@jld1532 Because you should ALWAYS kill a spike. That was a mature deer that simply didn't have the genetics to grew a full rack. The hunter here did a good job of culling him from the herd, to improve the gene pool. I know some ranches where hunters are kicked off the ranch if they do NOT shoot a mature buck spike.
