Goth is a mindset. We don't worship the devil. We're well read, creative, and we have a very dark sense of humor! And as for our halloween clothes and graveyard hangouts, we just like creating beauty in unexpected places. And the color black is cool. Of course I can't speak for all the gothies out there and there are probably also some nasty people out there who will try to intimidate you by saying that they worship the Devil. Its an understanding of life and death, realizing that the two have to co-exist in one another. Like Yin and Yang. Most Gothic people tend to have an above-average intelligence because of this understanding and realism. Goths are often confused with Satanists, because of the dark apparel. While Goths can be Satanic, a good amount of them are not. Its a matter of belief.

There are a few types of goths out there, I'm just plain goth, nothing special. I choose to be gothic because I feel unique, confident, and strong as a person. I don't really believe in religion so no I'm not a Satan worshiper, I am also very happy mentally. To me the black clothes mean nothing more than just a dramatic statement of hey I'm different not some sinister shroud of evil darkness as most non goths like to think. All in all I am a quiet and peaceful person, a person just like you.

well its terribly hard to explain what goths are. as goths have been around for HUNDREDS of years so there's no direct answer. but i would suggest the book "gothic bible" or "goth bible" i forget the name. i just ordered it from barnes and noble. it explains the history and what goths are. you might find it useful.

If you refer to the devil as the judge and nihilistic explorer/scientist potrayed by his direct actions in the bible then sure, all my friends and I admire that devil. Anyone with a will to better himself should admire that devil.

The goth scene is not about just death and decay, satan and devil worship, pain and suffering. It's about seeing beauty in everything, everything. We have picnics in cemetaries, and meet in the woods after dark, but its not to hide our "Satanic" ways. Its often to discuss poetry or painting, music(No Not Manson, those are {generally} posers). We don't really judge people, other than ourselves, as we are our own worst enemies.
We don't hate life, just the areas of it where no beauty can be found(politics), and the people that lash out at us for being a little off kilter. Is a dark soul something you have to be born with or can it be acquired. And what do you consider "dark humor" to giggle at you firmly feel folks universally (from the gypsy fortune teller to the atomic scientist to the Egyptian mailman) should agree on.

well the boots and colthes are because we feel comfertable wearing them as an expression of owr selfs and what we see as beauty. I don't see goths as wearing "wired" stuff i think that what we wear is very artisic and creative a way to diffent from the croud you see. And some goths are "devil worshipers" but some are not i my self am chirstan. but just because some are donest mean that you should treat all goths like they have TB most all goths are very nice and unstanding give them a chance.

Its an understanding of life and death, realizing that the two have to co-exist in one another. Like Yin and Yang. Most Gothic people tend to have an above-average intelligence because of this understanding and realism. Goths are often confused with Satanists, because of the dark apparel. While Goths can be Satanic, a good amount of them are not. Its a matter of belief.

You have Christian Goths, people always assume that because you're Goth you wear black all the time and worship the devil, when in fact, the first to dwell on the Gothic style MANY years ago were Catholics, nuns, priests. I think people should worry about the person as a whole instead of what they look and dress like

goths are all about individuality. its not just dressing in funeral attire. i think its ignorent that just because some dresses different that normal society that they are devil worshipers.. in my opinion people tend to look at the trench coast as colibine which is stupid plain fear from the norms.
Basically over all goth is meleoncally group but its taking it in passionate way which makes dark and beautiful artistically.

goths are not about the devil, evil, self mutilation, prostitution, drugs, etc. although there may be a few goths that are into that, there are alot of people in GENERAL that are into that kind of stuff too, so its very ignorant to generalize. Goths appreciate the darker side of everything and alot of the reasoning behind the way we dress stem from music. Has anyone ever heard of BatsDay at Disneyland? Perfect example of HAPPY goths

There are a few types of goths out there, I'm just plain goth, nothing special. I choose to be gothic because I feel unique, confident, and strong as a person. I don't really believe in religion so no I'm not a Satan worshiper, I am also very happy mentally. To me the black clothes mean nothing more than just a dramatic statement of hey I'm different not some sinister shroud of evil darkness as most non goths like to think. All in all I am a quiet and peaceful person, a person just like you.

Goth is a subculture based on goth music. And metal is NOT goth in any way.
Goth has nothing to do with devil worshop, depression or anything like that at all. And most important: It's not a lifestyle. Anyone claiming they dont like gothic music and say it's a lifestyle is a poser and doesnt know what they are talking about.

its not exactly a "Bible" as you know the holy bible (christian bible). its a "Compendium for the Darkly Inclined" it just teaches you about the lifestyle. And it *****DOES***** involve links to the Goths which were fighting in Europe, they aren't exact links, but still. Its by Nancy Kilapatrick if you wanna look it up. And it's not hard to read really, I'm able to read it and I'm the same age as you.

well its terribly hard to explain what goths are. as goths have been around for HUNDREDS of years so there's no direct answer. but i would suggest the book "gothic bible" or "goth bible" i forget the name. i just ordered it from barnes and noble. it explains the history and what goths are. you might find it useful.
i'd say more but 500 characters isn't much to use when giving a complex explanation.

Wrong. The gothic subculture has nothing to do with the historic tribe that sacked rome. The goth subculture came up in the 80's as a form of music. People listening to this dark "gothic" music were called "goths".

If you refer to the devil as the judge and nihilistic explorer/scientist potrayed by his direct actions in the bible then sure, all my friends and I admire that devil. Anyone with a will to better himself should admire that devil.
If you refer to the christian doctrine&prophet version of the devil as the lyer and deceiver, then I don't think there is anyone outside of random 14 year-old satan worshippers with a leather jacket who fit your description of "goth".

The goth scene is not about just death and decay, satan and devil worship, pain and suffering. It's about seeing beauty in everything, everything. We have picnics in cemetaries, and meet in the woods after dark, but its not to hide our "Satanic" ways. Its often to discuss poetry or painting, music(No Not Manson, those are {generally} posers). We don't really judge people, other than ourselves, as we are our own worst enemies.

Goth is a subculture derived from Punk in the late 70's. Though some goth do worship satan, so do some soccer moms and lawyers, its not selective to only our culture. Goth is about seeing beauty in darkness and art where it is lacking. Black is favorite choice of goths because we feel it lets us be dark ourselves, whatver rubs your Buddah in a sense. Being called a goth myself, I will tell you that I wear the style because I portray myself as a vampire, and I do worship the dark lord because I wish to get what I want sooner. We dress the way we do because #1 its different than everyone else. #2 we like to dress the way we do bcause it brings out our inner selves, its a creative way to express ones self. were not devil worshipers, infact many of us belong to different religions like christian, muslim, even jewish. We dont disrespect people and we are very welcoming and open minded. The ones who AEE violent are posers. we dont judge because of race, colour, etc
