I "Google Earthed" the site where this incident occured, the House he lived in, as well as the School he went to NO LONGER EXIST! (Alvaro and I were Pen Pals for a little over a year after his accident). God Bless him, his Brother and their Families.
Alvaro and I were pen pals for a couple of years after his accident. This year I visited his hometown in Texas during my annual Amusement Park-Hopping Trip. (I just HAD to see what it looked like.) May God Bless Him, His Brother and their Families.
i would just say thank god very very ,much for givin this kids life and enabling 2 have a wife and those 4 kids...god bless him and i hope he has had a wonderful life since the incident
@ASSEMblerEX His family came from Texas (They were Migrant Farm Workers during the Summer, at the time of the accident they were wintering in Moorhead, Mn) This year, while Vacationing in Texas, I decided to cruise over to his Hometown just to see what it looked like. (No, I did not see him, I understand he works on Offshore Oil Rigs) I rolled in, stopped at a local restaurant to eat supper, raided their Wally's for a couple of DVDs, then went about my way. ITCH SCRATCHED!
20 years? Man, I'm getting old, I remember that event and remember thinking if he lives then imagine what miracles we'll have 20 years from now....that should be the question...what have doctors learned after saving this boy's life and where is the technology now?
When someone is unconscious and without oxygen, being in such cold water slows down the metabolic rate of the brain and other organs so they don't need as much oxygen or energy. That preserves the chances of neurological recovery.
