@Arthurlsims Thanks Cuz! When I tell people where and how we started out at the Stone @138 pounds it blows there mind. It's cool to have someone who was there 20+ years ago post. Thanks again!
WHats your stats at bro height and weight?? And as for the whole spotter wasnt doing anything comment obviously these guys train together all the time his spotter obviously knew what he was capable of doing you train with someone long enough you know if there going for big lifts like this if there gonna hit it or not and you know if the person struggles or not when to take it
I'm 5'9 and at that time I was (246 that morning) I think 253 at the gym that evening on the gym scale with cloths. About the spotter comments with a shirt you might be lifting more than 200-300 pounds over your raw lift and if you get out of your groove it could get ugly so they usually need more than spotter. Raw you if you need more than 1 you're going to heavy. Thanks for the post.
@aligerous What's up Bro, spotter doesn't touch the bar until the lifter says "take it!" that way no one ever get's up saying "I almost had it you took it too soon!" or "how much did you help?" I'm sure you've seen that before. Lol! Thanks for the post.
@rubbercityhitman I completely understand what your saying. Anybody pushing that kind of weight really ought to have the spotters in a ready position to take action if needed. The spotter in this video just looked too far away in my humble opinion. If that weight came down, for whatever reason, it's coming down too fast for that spotter to do anything before the big man is crushed. A spotter on each side and one behind would have been great for this kind of tonnage. Great lift. Be safe
@aligerous I agree! The problem we had at this gym is we were the only experienced lifters there. With that being the case we figured one great spotter was safer than one great spotter plus two high school kids. Again thanks for the post. Always good to read the opinions of other lifters. That's how new ideas are born.
dude, I thought my 465 PR was tough, that's double tough! I have to wear gloves though my hands cramp up from the pressure of the bar once i get over 350, great video they should pull about half of the bench press videos off the net and replace with yours!
@sgtmiller2002 Thanks for the post SGT! I hope you don't mind me saying but I had a 465 PR once too. Keep studying, work hard and believe and you can do anything!
@kenfo0 I agree but if you're moving the kind of steel you're moving they haven't ruined yours either. When I served I got use to the fact that everything I did was going to be hard because of the "RPG Factor" 465 is a lot of weight but imagine how you're going to feel when you hit 500!
@sgtmiller2002 Thanks Bro. My hands would swell when I went heavy so I had to adjust my bench. As long as you keep putting up big numbers like 465 do what you gotta do!
Fantastic lift. What really impresses me is that you almost hit the second rep. The magnitude of getting 2 solid reps with a disciplined strict form is of historical terms. I also really like how you seem like a humble quiet type guy and not a loud mouthed attention seeking braggart. Also, double body weight lifts are the gold standard for strength measurement. You are benching more than double your weight...for REPS! Incredible.

@TheREGISMarkV (247) 253 with clothes X2 is 506 your math is off where did you go to school? Lol! If 600 is not uncommon when are you going to hit it?
@TheREGISMarkV yea you're right. i see plenty of 150 lb guys putting up 300 on bench in the gym. give me a break; a double bodyweight bench is an extremely impressive feat. plenty of 300 lb guys in the nfl and a very very small fraction of those guys can do anywhere near 600. and he's right; your math needs work. alot of respect to anyone who can even move this kind of weight from the rack, let alone bench press it for reps.
this makes me feel puny. my freshman year at high school. i maxed out on bench 265. and i'm not fat guy that eats cheese burgers and drink protein shakes..its was just pure muscle and beast mode.
@IJIT11809 wat? i was just sayin. like i maxed out pretty good for my size and year of high school. i'm not sayin its wrong eatin cheese burgers and drinkin shakes..
@AnakinSkyboogie, lifting heavy weights will cause you to through wild haymakers so I'm losing weight and I bought the Notorious Knockout workout CD. You start with a Rug lifting workout and progress to a stairwell workout that's pretty intense! Lol! Thanks for the post! Lol!
@omxpablo19 and 700 your in the history books but seriously 600 pound i dont know what id say to a guy that can do soemthing like that...i guess you win? lol
I remember when i first saw this video over 3 years ago when i only weighed 170lbs and i was only benching 300, now im up over 400lbs this guy was a awesome inspiration to me, thanks for commenting me and giving me the tips i needed bro! We are about the same weight now 210lbs but i bet you can still out bench me lol and dont let the haters get to you! You are the Becnh KING!
ARMFlGHT, thanks for the post and congrats on the lifting! I'm glad you got something useful from my post because that's what I was shooting for. Please keep me posted on your progress.
@rubbercityhitman You are more then welcome bro! As of rite now im coming back from a minor pec tear, that was over a month+ ago, i just started to train my bench, and im already pausing 310 X 4 reps @ 210lbs my goal is to get to a 350 pause @ 200lbs this summer, My life time goal is too pause bench 2X my body weight. I do other lifts as well im trying to get up my DL, SQ, Military Press, Clean n Jerk, and Snatch, i have some videos posted on my channel you should go check em out bro. :]
@naarakyuu In powerlifting we list attempts Brah. What you're talking about would be 600X2X1 (600-2 attempts, 1 completed lift). Since most of the people here are educated enough to know this I didn't post that. By the way I inserted a note at the 1:26 mark for the less educated stating that I listed my attempts did you miss that Brah?
@SwAgGaRyT pushing with your feet while still having your ass on the bench allows you to push more weight. benching should be a total body exercise if you want to increase weight moved.
Are you officially retired now? What do you weigh now and whats your training look like now? I am sure your friends here would love to see something new from you-an update
I'm unofficially retired. I said I would come back if any of my records were broken by 2010 and they haven't been, unless that happens soon it will be official. I joined the Army Guard and I'm going through OCS (Officer Candidate School) and I need to be smaller and faster. I'm 210 now down from the 248 (253 with clothes) in this video. If things go well for me in OCS I'll post my graduation. How's that? I have a question... my friends where?
Why not take some records in the 220 or 198 class? I nailed 440x1 with a little bit of a pause at the bottom two days ago, check out the video! I'm sure you could challenge the 198 or 220 raw records. The best 198er out there right now is Dennis Cieri with 525 though the all time record is a bit higher. I think the 220 class record is a lil over 550, you could take that no problem.
You mean James Hollywood Henderson? No I never had the pleasure but he was great bencher back when I was young. I remember reading about him challenging the equipped guys to take off their equipment and face him and no one would. His record stood until a few years ago when technology finally made it possible for someone with a shirt to pass him. Id be embarrassed to say I needed equipment to do what he did raw. Nothing against shirts but he set it raw break it raw.
Insane, this guy on the first rep went slow and controlled unlike most people who bounce the weight of the chest. I've never seen someone personally do above 405 pounds.
one of the strongest raw benchers to ever live, think about it 600 pounds!!!!!!!!! for a double super power at pound for pound bodyweight and super power for just being flat out stronger than anyone else!
Superman is right, shyt Bro I out way you by a hundred pounds. But I'm happy with my 425!! Keep doing your thing dude and keep posting these videos they make me keep dreaming and training!!
I love how you had to post that you only got it once out of two attempts. Anyone who would say you only got 1 not 2 could never dream of doing this weight. You are one of the strongest guys I have ever seen, and I'd love to do 400 someday, I'm not even dreaming of 600 haha
not everyone needs them. seems hes strong enough not to need them. fuck hes benching 600 for reps without them. if hes not having pain doing it hes not gunna have to worry about it. if it became an issue he could wear them. dont try and lecture him. youre just another critic
I know Arthur personally and not only is he the biggest/strongest guy I have ever known, but he is also one of the nicest and most respectful people I have ever met in my life...always friendly and never, ever arrogant or cocky: A true superman! Although, Superman's vette has a bit of trouble keeping up with my Cobra ;o) see ya soon bro...
Very good lift the only reason you didnt get the second was because one you paused even though you didnt have to second you didnt want it bad enough and thirdly you lost you focus the strenth is there all day. great lift ow and im coming for ya brah. 5'5'' 220 and pr 530 in 07 before shoulder surgery but im almost back. so dont slack.
Babydee I usually dont take advice from anyone who hasnt hit 550 (or men named babydee). However, I thought Id take a look at your 505 video but since you didnt get it I wont critic it. You should know this son I hit 525 at 188 pounds in training and then hit 515 at the NASA Worlds with a broken hand. I then hit a 541.5 at 213 pounds (that video is here). So since you dont have a 500 in you I would suggest you try to hit that mark first before looking at the BIG TAN SUPERMAN!
lol, the name come from me being the third so they call me the baby. but in the video you saw i was a week out from getting my shoulder fixed cause i blew it out getting ready for worlds at 26yrss old before then i doubled 520 with a pause and get this no one touch either rep! but its all good fam do your thang just know you got people the envy while at the same time gunning for your records...
The video you posted is two years old it has 599 views and three post! I posted mine 2 years ago and it has 60,873. Do you know why? I have post from around the world including Africa. You got 3 from your home town with one asking if you were joking post that lift, do you know why? What organization are you a world champion in? What records do you hold and when are we going to compete? I mean when am I going to give you a spanking?
Damn that's what's up!!

I think the 220 class record is a lil over 550, you could take that no problem.

Awesome lift superman. Was curious, have you ever met James Henderson? I think you two would really be able to push each other to new PRs.
treetoptop 1 year ago
You mean James Hollywood Henderson? No I never had the pleasure but he was great bencher back when I was young. I remember reading about him challenging the equipped guys to take off their equipment and face him and no one would. His record stood until a few years ago when technology finally made it possible for someone with a shirt to pass him. Id be embarrassed to say I needed equipment to do what he did raw. Nothing against shirts but he set it raw break it raw.

Insane, this guy on the first rep went slow and controlled unlike most people who bounce the weight of the chest. I've never seen someone personally do above 405 pounds.

Nice!! Great lift, great control. Every thing else has been said already. Good Job!

Superman is right, shyt Bro I out way you by a hundred pounds. But I'm happy with my 425!! Keep doing your thing dude and keep posting these videos they make me keep dreaming and training!!
olskool9 2 years ago
I love how you had to post that you only got it once out of two attempts. Anyone who would say you only got 1 not 2 could never dream of doing this weight. You are one of the strongest guys I have ever seen, and I'd love to do 400 someday, I'm not even dreaming of 600 haha

he should have 2 spotters, and they should be closer one on either end that was dangerous!

not everyone needs them. seems hes strong enough not to need them. fuck hes benching 600 for reps without them. if hes not having pain doing it hes not gunna have to worry about it. if it became an issue he could wear them. dont try and lecture him. youre just another critic

Damn, I need to get my bench up. I wonder what your partials look like (that is if you do partials)? Any other tips?
Ps My username pisses ppl off some times. They think it's racial but I'm black so it can't be. We just aren't getting democracy.

I have never done partials. I find partial only work if you've been injured or you use equipment. Raw lifters should never do them.

Very good lift the only reason you didnt get the second was because one you paused even though you didnt have to second you didnt want it bad enough and thirdly you lost you focus the strenth is there all day. great lift ow and im coming for ya brah. 5'5'' 220 and pr 530 in 07 before shoulder surgery but im almost back. so dont slack.
babydee007 2 years ago
Babydee I usually dont take advice from anyone who hasnt hit 550 (or men named babydee). However, I thought Id take a look at your 505 video but since you didnt get it I wont critic it. You should know this son I hit 525 at 188 pounds in training and then hit 515 at the NASA Worlds with a broken hand. I then hit a 541.5 at 213 pounds (that video is here). So since you dont have a 500 in you I would suggest you try to hit that mark first before looking at the BIG TAN SUPERMAN!
rubbercityhitman 2 years ago
lol, the name come from me being the third so they call me the baby. but in the video you saw i was a week out from getting my shoulder fixed cause i blew it out getting ready for worlds at 26yrss old before then i doubled 520 with a pause and get this no one touch either rep! but its all good fam do your thang just know you got people the envy while at the same time gunning for your records...
babydee007 2 years ago
The video you posted is two years old it has 599 views and three post! I posted mine 2 years ago and it has 60,873. Do you know why? I have post from around the world including Africa. You got 3 from your home town with one asking if you were joking post that lift, do you know why? What organization are you a world champion in? What records do you hold and when are we going to compete? I mean when am I going to give you a spanking?
