She won an award and used the opportunity to promote her film (which the song in question was written for) and the people who were working with her. I fail to see the narcissism, but hey, in order to live the life she does, you gotta be a little out there.
Why is everyone crying about her saying 'I'm not French, I have no excuse'? If you watched the whole show you'd know that it's because of Jean Dujardin, he won an award for The Artist but his acceptance speech was quite poor as he doesn't know much English. Stop assuming she's 'racist'.
Madonna put on a great halftime show at the Superbowl but that's all the props that she's going to get from me. She says in her acceptance speech that she's not French- well, you're not English either, you pretentious bitch. The speech was tasteless, self-centered and embarrassing. It's so sad how much smack she talks on Lady Gaga and how much LG still idolizes her. Uncouth.

I loved Glenn Close expression, she's always rooting for Madonna. Also notice how everyone is trying to get a glimpse of her (Matt LeBlanc 1:36). This is a wonderful song. The soundtrack s¡is out so go get it on iTunes. It's totally worth it.

I'm sorry but she's the M effin QUEEN!!! Accent? She has always talked like that. She actually speaks proper English which so few of us Americans do. She pronounces each word correctly. For example say a word ends in "ing" she pronounces that word just as it's written instead of using the slang way which is "in" example: Walking= proper

Loved that song! As I looked at the audience, I didn't see a lot of enthusiasm. In my personal opinion, Madonna worked hard in making this movie happen. Her music is not just something anybody can just hear. So much emotion goes into it. WTG, Madonna!

i personally dont think "masterpiece" is great anything....certainly not worthy of an award---but then again i also didnt think B-Spears would ever get a grammy nod---20 years ago artists like J-Beiber and B-Spears would never have recieved any sort of award nomination---times sure have changed

Madonna's speech wasn't anymore narcissistic than what I have heard from other award recipients. Hollywood is one big phoney, narcissistic cesspool anyway. The difference between Madonna and her peers is that she actually has achievements and milestones to back up her arrogance. Elton is so vile.. He has done NOTHING significant this past decade but make feuds and diss on other artists.. George Michael said that Elton spread so many nasty and false rumors about him and Elton also dissed on Robbie Williams for no apparent reason. What's getting his goat is that Madonna just IGNORES him.
And also, he ought to thank Madonna who was THERE IN THE BEGINNING fighting against homophobia & AIDS back in the day when it wasn't fashionable while HE was in the CLOSET, hiding.
W.E. IS Madonna's film.. & Masterpiece IS Madonna's song.. So her saying "my this or my that" is but NATURAL. Duh.
And she's thanking OTHER people without whom she wouldn't have been able to do HER film and HER song.

Unbelievable.Madonna lives in the US for most of her life, she lives in England for a few years and all of a sudden she's sporting a wee English accent. Meanwhile I know Americans who have lived there for 20 years but their accents remain wholly american.
@simplenametag Some people are more prone to pick up accents whether they are aware of it or not especially if they are around people who carry that accent. Madonna lived in the UK for 10 years so I don't find it hard to believe that every once and a while we hear an accent. But sometimes when she does it a lot I think she's just fucking with us =P
@simplenametag Liar. I was in France for a week and started picking up an accent. Accent is very important in language. Native ppl won't understand you, even if you technically know the words, w/o the accent. My accent went away w/in days of coming back to US though. Wish hers would dissipate already. I have to say that I DO NOT LIKE ELTON JOHN!! I don't know why he has such an issue with Madonna and his heart of full of jealousy, which is ugly. Madonna lived in the UK for 10 years so I don't find it hard to believe that every once and a while we hear an accent. But sometimes when she does it a lot I think she's just fucking with us =P

Native ppl won't understand you, even if you technically know the words, w/o the accent. My accent went away w/in days of coming back to US though. Wish hers would dissipate already.
