  • AMAKRID"S and GERARDBEDCARTER's advice is EXCELLENT! I am sure they are BOTH great great teachers. I mean, who ARE you, guys?? Great perf., of the Appasionata. Please keep posting, Jeff.

  • Thank you very much.

    I'm also a great pedant.

There are two "s"s in Appassionata.

    No-one's perfect.

  • Dear Jeff, try to sit more confortable to your seat, and place your body a bit closer to the piano. Initially it may seem to you more difficult to follow the difficult passages, but you will learn to activate tinier body elements, be more centered, sense a pause or a melody rather than thinking it and let yourself ''adopt" the piece, rather than running after it...

  • I agree with you.

  • ...Appassionata is a masterpiece about human struggle, where the whole soul and body of the pianist-hero must participate. Let yourself express those inner forces conciously, gradually and perfectly.

  • your piano is a steinway & sons ??

good job, i like it :)

  • yamaha :)

  • so nice !!

Very well played and nice technique you have ;D

  • can you play the Hammerklavier???

  • Lead-ins to second subject successfully achieved. Tempo(s), especially of second subject, could be more relaxed. This will make the frenzied outpouring of the final page even more effective. In the opening you observed literally the rests 2,3,4 which I liked. You followed Beethoven's pedal markings except in the final phrase; play it more slowly it may work there also. Beethoven is not necessarily always after a "beautiful" sound. Overall, I enjoyed your interpretation immensely.

  • you deserve a lot more views!

  • Wow.. Are you professional pianist?

  • i love you jeff.

  • correct me if i am wrong .thank you

  • I love your playing very much and wish my ideas help you. Iamworking on this sonata too and having jury in 14th.Wish u can help me too!haha

  • Don't u think it was too loud in Bar 62-64

Bar 80 those 4 2 in right hand why not keep it as a accompaniment(not that loud)?

Bar 82, right hnad melody why not do it in crescendo?try to start not that loud.. same as left hand melody bar 85.

check the Bar 124-126 rhythm, especally bar 126(only 9 notes in a bar )I know a lot of masters doing like the way you did.54321123451,but the rhythm is 54321* 123451 and so on..

  • nice!!! I learned the first few pages and haven't gotten far since. I was inspired to (start) learning it after watching Barenboim's masterclass with Lang Lang, it's a fantastic piece, thanks for posting your performance! great to hear it from pianists like you!

  • awesome. great interpertation~^^ i'm so impressed ur playing. i hope to see other movements.

  • Nice to see a new vid of you! I think you did a great job here, your playing is very mature.

  • Great playing jeffery! Its also good Beethoven, you're on the right track stylistically to. Listen to some of the old masters play beethoven. Schnabel is the recognized top Beethoven player, you just have to listen through the ancient recordings! Wilhelm Kempf is also good, with better sound.

    Maxqueue

  • What a nice surprise to sign in today and find you've uploaded the 1st movement of the Appassionata! This is excellent work, Jeffrey and I am very impressed with what you are accomplishing. Your playing already shows more subtlety and focus. Can't wait to see the other movements!!!

  • Nice work Jeffrey! Have you seen the Barenbiom Lang Lang master class on you tube? Cool stuff. Be careful with getting that radiator heater to close to your piano. Radiator heaters and pianos

    don't mix well together.

  • thanks :) ya what a fun masterclass.

oh okay i will keep that in mind haha. it just gets so cold in colorado lol.

  • slicejl152,

You should buy some Auralex Studiofoam. It really helps keep the room warmer as it blocks the cold coming directly from the wall. Just Google Auralex Studiofoam and you can check it out. I also use a dehumidifier to keep the room at 60% humidity. The suck water right out of the air. All the best.

  • very good. Try to find a pianist Solomon i think his Appassionata is one of the best. Garrick Ohlsson plays Appassionata outstanding as well.

    Keep up the good work.
