  • A long time ago my mate Roger and I were installing electronic telephone exchanges.

RG was one of our faves - we had a battered old Dolby C cassette deck.

In Your Town was one of those tracks that upped the output rate.

Also we'd put it on when the local tech pissed us off.

Remarks like "You b*****ds really are in my town and I can't f***in' wait to see the back of you.

RIP Rory - so glad I found your music mate.

  • in my drunken opinion this man is THEE man. I was a doors struck teenager when rory died and i only wish i was a bit older so a could have seen some of the men i worship. R.I.P rory ,john martyn, jim morrison and lots of others thanks form the music guys i'll never forget any of you.

  • zero dislikes.should be minus 4!

  • MasterClass!

  • One of Rory's cooler techniques: when he used the tone knob while playing slide to simulate a wah like on display at 4:30 and at the end. I always love that.

This performance has really got the essence of Rory live. (Of course, the one element that was always present that's missing here is the crowd that has been worked into a lather.)

  • @bloozplyr

Exactly ;) Rory was a true master of using those tiny techniques that you can create with your bare hands on the guitar. He didn't need a huge board with pedals to make his playing sound interesting. Most people don't realize that today!

Check out Calling Card from Hammersmith 1977 or 1976. He did a stunning job with the tone knob there as well!

    Long live Rory! RIP

  • Stunning. Who could possibly follow that?

  • words cant explain this boy , hey the whole bands hot. ya dont see this sort of talent much anymore ?? maybe not at all

  • To see him playin this live was just something else!!!!

  • Listen to the lyrics to this song. This is one badass song.

  • When he straps that guitar on he's in the zone. He's in his own world which we were lucky enough to hear,

  • Forget Clapton, Gallgher is God.

  • soooo good it defies description ....honestly tell me were do you go from here ..sheer class

  • No matter how many times I hear this or any other version of this track it sends a chill up my spine, for raw edged passion Rory had few peers.

  • To true i never tire of this one.

  • Oh!

  • one of the best ever blues songs written and performed by one of the greatest bluesmen. September 08 in Liverpool i will be raisin a glass 2 u at the 13th annual Rory tribute concert at the cavern. God bless you

  • I'll be doing the same up here in Glasgow at the Ferry.

  • the best, jeje.

  • Tight as F**K!!

  • I never tire of watching this one Davie, glad tou are enjoying it.

  • Same here Tony!

  • If there's a god he'll be looking after Rory.

  • What brilliant slide playing, love this number!

  • What a fantastic talent he had. Inspired so many ;)

  • Totally agree Billyboy!!

  • Howdee partner, I was thinking of you when I made the comment. Should you not be in bed at this late hour..come on ;)

  • Yeah this seems to be one that kind of got left out when Lou Martin joined, i think it's a pity it's so rare. This is probably the best version of it i've come across too. I love this line up though and his sound at this time is my favourite, it's so raw.

  • A short tv session i think Padraig.I agree its a great vid and the only one i have seen of this song.

  • Nice, i love Gallagher's slide work. Was this a whole concert or just a short television session? It's rare to see such good video quality from this era.

  • #88 -Music- UK

  • Thanks a lot Tony!!
