  • I hope he also goes to school.

  • Gay

  • Nobody says, "Black boy," anymore. That was only for non-blacks in older time who viewed black people as a specimen.

  • You are absolutely right, that is an old racist expression. But this guy is about 8 years old, so he is a boy.

And there is a difference between just "black boy" and "Very young very good black boy drummer".

  • No, ... there isn't a difference. Why does it matter that he is black in this situation?

  • why did you have to put the "black" part in the title?

    it holds no relevance...

    thank you for the video.

  • You are absolutely right, language is very interesting. To listen to negro spirituals is OK, but the word negro can not even be pronounced by linguists on NPR. What about "jewish drummer" or "girl drummer". Are these statements racist or sexist? And I do agree that "black boy" does not sound p.c. Somebody searching for "black music" can find my video too.

  • Now THAT is a properly tuned djembe,,lovely ,and now I know what to do with that extra bass drum in my closet!

  • YEAH

  • aww yeah...

  • Großartig!

  • it was good they should also sell their talents to like birthday parties too. like 20 dollars an hour is pretty good start. all you need is a permit.

  • nice

  • i reckon this would go down very well in a club, oh yeahhh

  • I can't wait to see a very racist comment from a spoilt white kid..

The world is full of fakes...

  • Today I saw a middle age, very good, white woman playing african drums in Central Park.

  • thats life my friend, thats life.....

  • its funny from 3:06 to 3:15.

  • I saw these guys They were along the L or maybe the 456

  • This kid is great yo. Check out his sense of humour towards the end of the video. haha great

  • I'm glad these kids have a chance to display their talents to the public. This is a good start for them because someday they may hit it big!

  • harryhaa im with u. ppl are to obsessed with political correctness to the point that differences, which are what make us interesting are hushed, and we pretend that everyone is the same in everyway.

  • hey thx 4 sharing this-

best street concert I've ever heard

  • not to be too p.c. but wtf is with the "black boy" part.

  • I quote TheFerruccio lower down: "Noting people by their skin color and judging people by their skin color are very different."

  • yes but would you say a very good white boy drummer? no.

  • You are absolutely right about that. What about "jewish drummer" or "girl drummer". Are these statements racist or sexist? And I do agree that "black boy" does not sound totally p.c. Language is very interesting. It is ok to listen to negro spirituals, but the n-word can not even be pronounced by linguists on npr.

Somebody searching and using the key words "black music" can find my video too.

  • @harryhaa

Seemingly descriptive language is ok in theory, but in society language of this sort can carry altogether different meanings. although you find it interesting, you clearly are not sensitive to how language is used to divide people.

Negro Spirituals are p.c. because the term is anachronistic.

What moron searches "black music" what the hell would they even be looking for? dark ominous suicidal music?

  • @mcleanayearst

Well, I googled "black music", got 6.8 milj results. One of the top ones was Wikipedia:

"Black music is a term encompassing music produced or inspired by black people. In the 20th century, this term has come to usually refer to the many music genres of African American music, especially in United States." On YouTube I got 165K results. I´m sure some of these include "dark ominous suicidal music". And you are right about Negro spirituals. Another anachronism is Negro League.

  • @harryhaa exactly! try to think about what American music genre hasn't been heavily influenced by the African diaspora. not one! so its not a very good search query.

  • @mcleanayearst

On the web page of Apollo theater in Harlem it says: "This historic venue is in large part responsible for the development and worldwide popularization of black music in America."

  • @mcleanayearst Because whites are the main thing. When a childrens picture book says t-shirt you see a picture of a white t-shirt. Most people would assume the kids white if you just say boy

  • @BeebieDee why the hell would they assume he is white? white people only make up a small fraction of this earth's population. If white is the dominant colour in your mind I would say that that is problematic and that you have been effected by a dominant racist discourse.

  • @mcleanayearst Its the truth. White is the standard thing for like, everything. If you ask a black child to draw a person that person would be white.

  • @mcleanayearst

Some time ago I changed the "... very good black boy..." to "... very good african american boy ...". Since I got many comments on the "black boy" I changed it. My intension was not to offend anybody. I apologize to everyone whose feelings I have hurt. This is a cultural clash I think, since I come from Sweden I have not understood how sensitive this issue is in the USA. I´m not sure if the "african american" is better, what do you think?

  • i like, i wish we had that in london, our underground system is boring, nothing new

  • looks like his older brother to me. too close in age to be dad

  • that kid def's got talent.

  • who cares on what he says about his color the whole point of it is he took the time to post this flick so that we out there could see the talent in this little boy

  • ahhh...New York...how I miss thee...this amazing child has the softness and confidence of the ancestors...

  • How do we know that the person who posted this video isn't black?

  • race of the poster doesnt matter. it is still phrased oddly.

  • They are very good (and so is the R-32 in the background)

  • Black boy? Why not just a very young drummer? I guess the point is that he was good but seems odd to point that out

  • I quote TheFerruccio lower down: "Noting people by their skin color and judging people by their skin color are very different."

  • that kid should go to talent agency

  • WHat about the other guy? Hes keepin it reel bro.

  • I thought it might be racist at first,too...but maybe the poster is from another country and doesn't know any better? He is a little boy, though. It's just insulting to call grown men "boy," I guess. I'm not galvawalken, by the way, I forgot my password again.

  • fan va bra dom är

  • god they are good i give them a 20 and still give em more

  • the title was pretty racist ... "BLACK BOY DRUMMER" :|

  • I still don´t understand the differences in the use of the terms of race or ethnic background. If the boy had been an orthodox jew, would it have been racist to write "Young, good orthodox jewish boy drummer". The words in the title also work as Keywords in the Search engine. Somebody might want to find videos with black musicians. I welcome more comments on this subject.

  • Interesting comment, you are not the first one with this opinion. The drummer is young, good, fron NY and he is a boy. Nobody comments on that, but to tell his skin color seems to be a problem. For me it adds information about this video and the person performing when I tell that he is black, from NY, very young and so on. Maybe this is also a cultural difference, I moved from Sweden to NY just a couple of years ago.

  • I don't think it was racist. Why should describing the simple visual appearance of skin be racist? Please do not equate noting people based on the color of their skin with judging them.

Noting people by their skin color and judging people by their skin color are very different.

  • Wow. That Kid has talent!

  • Awesome, I wish I was there to give them money. I wonder how old the kid is.

  • anyway..... he is really good to be so young.

  • its okay, need alittle bit more practice thou

  • so cute, the're good :)

  • o yea it's so fake. the sound so doesnt match what his hands are doing *rolls eyes*

if you think this is fake YOU ARE GAY AND YOU ARE BLIND. this kid is great.

  • Too sad for your opinion, I do think that you are no dynamic drumer. I can prove that the sound matches the movements. No faking at all. - Trust me !

  • i was quoting that guy that said it was fake. i know this vid is real

  • so fake

  • i thought that was great. i think about half the people who leave comments leave bad ones for the sake of it. some times you can see 20 or 30 posts not even talking about the actual video, theyre talking about comments it goes off on a fucking tangent. annoys me, that kid was great.

  • How would it be fake? ^^

    It's awsome by the way.

  • it's fake

  • WTF!???! What is fake? must be your brain. you should see a doctor, it might help.

btw, shut the fuck up and post useful info, or dont post.

  • Geez, that's funny, I never realized he was young or black!

  • also the person who typed the title should be picking out differnt ppl ( you should say *black* drummer) i personaly find that racist to black ppl

  • ohhhh shut the fuck up.... its not racist... hes black!

  • Absolutely fucking awesome kid! Superb.

  • i know a lot of bands that have drummers that don't even come close to skills like that and they make fortunes, weather or not they are poor, the thing is that if they get to record and distribute in a large enough group they are shure to be rich. (or they can just play rap along with all the other rapers but out drumm them 1000 folds and "become rap", like then you think metal you think metalica, then you think old rock, you think elvis, they could be the next title holders!

  • whoevr said hes not pore cause hes got a drum is dumb, he probably worked really hard to get it just to make more money

but he is still pretty good, iam a drummer and iam stuffed if i can do that

  • Whoever types like they are twelve is also dumb.

  • and you replyed? and i too? but i allredy know about me, what about you?

  • i hope you gave them a dollar at least.

  • he is an amazing drummer though.. they both could get a great job with "stomp"

  • he doesn't live on the streets if he can afford a drum

  • sorry

i just heard about those kids and then i saw the video

  • he got skills

it's sad that he lives on the streets

  • What makes you believe he lives on the streets, I don´t think he is different from other street artists.

  • pretty good
