  • This is one of the few versions of Loch Lomond I can tolerate besides Roy Williamson's. The two renderings are totally different, though. This one is more upbeat and jolly, doesn't seem sad at all -- reminds me more of the Irish tune Red is the Rose. Roy's Loch Lomond (to me actually the "gold standard" for this song) plumbs the depth of heart-ripping emotion. I guess it depends on what you're in the mood for.

  • Your amazing!! Nearly had me in tears! Love it! X

  • Very nice version, but I still prefer the first one I heard (maybe so), the Leo McGuire in his LP The Twistle & the Shamrock, 1971

You have a great voice!. Have you tried a lower tone, more solemn, slow ...?

I know this song since 1974, when my parents brought this LP in Scotland, a trip

Now, thanks to you I can touch me too!

I just need the full letter

    Congratulations!

  • Is there anyway for someone to tab this? I want to do a music project with it, but honestly am having trouble. I do have all the chords though.

  • @emeraldDreamer27

I don't do TABs but the arrangement is built round the chord inversions. Tell me where you are struggling and I'll help

    regards

  • Ich liebe dieses Lied .

Wer nicht da war , kanns nicht verstehen.

  • Dank

  • I am a piper who has spent five years learning many of the songs you have posted here. i found, over the years, they became somewhat stale to me having played them on a daily basis. I decided to search to hear other instruments and interpretations. i first found your scots wha hae post and was moved to say the least! I picked up my pipes and as i played i felt a renewed appreciation for the song. many songs have followed! thanks for the inspiration and for sharing your talent!

  • Many thnx for your comments...and I am delighted to have inspired some enthusiasm in your playing!

I've been searching for a less intrusive and a little more sensitive version of the song for quite some time now. Finally found it here. Thank you.

  • Great rendition Kev. I am not scottish but the song is every mans song. I got to play iot for my scottish friends oneday. I am looking out for the tabs of this but urs is far far the best!

  • thanks my friend. I don't have tabs for it as its my own arrangement and I just play it by intuition(!) but....its all based around inversions of the chords if you look closely! D capo 3 puts it into F major and the D chord shapes lend themselves well to the melody.

  • I thought your rendition would be interesting, and it does not disappoint.

I really enjoy the way you've delivered this. Most renditions tend to focus on the patriotism and romanticism of the Jacobite cause. I really liked how you told the story as though the soldier was in shock; just starting to accept his fate and remembering all the beauty and emotion that he had felt for and in his homeland. It made the lyrics even more moving.

    Thanks for posting this.
