this is a bit of a gag. the uploader cut a piece of a much larger and very interesting documentary called philosophy and the matrix. I guess this part pissed him off or whatever..ignore it.
@chieftech714 it is true that this clip originates from "Return to the source - Philosophy and the matrix". I cannot follow the assumptions you make. This clip explains that dominant groups in society determine the way 'others' are portrayed in the media. In this specific clip it's about how "black people see themselves through white eyes". Understanding the media as "a framework of ideas" may help you break out of your ideological "prison". A very powerful lesson I presume.
@bzonder. Um I get that. That's why I made my post. I suggest all watch the documentary in it's entirety rather than this one clip. that was for beastiejp anyway.
This is just stupid... If this was a true observation by the Wachowski brothers and wanted to incorporate it into their films (Blacks aren't ready to be unplugged?) explain why the vast majority of people living in the "Real World" (In the reloaded film, specifically the temple dance scene) are black?
wow to bring this race angle into it i respectfully disagree. you can't bottle the Matrix into that small compartment. its a whole movie about the New World Order.
I agree ONErudebwoy, but we need to raise some hands to battle Status Quo. I dont say revolution its more, revolution of our minds, taken considerations that we are walking empty husks or that is what some people in power wants. Well, we are humans, we can ration we can think and we are intelligent and those schemes are not going to work, Im sure of it.
"Most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it."
...why wouldn't a slave be allowed to read...even against the law?
the same reason they do not teach finance to children in schools...it protects the status quo...some will fight against their own interests to protect the only life they know...even if a better one exists that they can not see clearly for lack of knowledge
