All instruments are noise makers..... especially in unskilled hands like a beginner. Ever heard a child take up an instrument? I'd rather hear a top level performer, but guess what..... they don't let the rest of us listen when they are woodshedding a new bit. In novice hands this would get annoying, but soon it would get interesting, like make it a drinking game for when you have guests over!

Great! Love it! This is a new thing and some will get it and some will not.  I like a piece by user "Gattobus" particularly. The key is in not letting it repeat too much while you're twiddling one little thing somewhere else; change layers regularly to introduce a new pattern in a varying, dynamic performance.

Piano Roll is exactly what is says on the tin, there is no other way of simulating notes. Well, none simpler than the one in use. There is such applications as renoise.
