(very) Short focus test; Flowers (Canon FS200)

Hi I was hoping maybe you can help me. I got this camera a couple of days ago but when it is on auto focus the monitor inside, I read it was the focus monitor, makes like small "whirrrrrr" or slight ticking noises (i don't mean the zoom button clicking sounds)....is this a problem or is it something that the canon camera does?

hello, and sorry for the very late respond D:

the camera record in mpeg2 format, wich WMM have a difficulty to edit in, so you need a extra converting program wich you can convert from .mpeg2 to .mpeg1, .avi or something like that (wich I use my Nero vision program for. not the best program, but it works). so if you have a program wich you can reconvert the format to something else than .mpeg2, wmm works ok as a editing program.

I asked the same question to a lot of canon fs100 users on youtube, and they said it was a good camera for beginners. but when I was going to buy the fs100, it was no longer avalable to buy. so I bought fs200 when It came out. this camera is easy to use and is a great camera to begin with ( I am also new to filmmaking :) ) no quality added, and the software is Nero Vision and WMM.

you need a editingprogram wich can convert the clip to another format like mpeg1 or avi or something like that. i use Nero vision for that because WMM have a difficulty to edit mpeg2 clips ( wich is the format you're recording in.) i convert my clips to mpeg1 format on my videos. it doesn't take much space and the quality is not too bad :) WMM doesn't convert clips to another fromat :( I hope you understand what I mean :)

i just bought this today for me whenever i play back something that i recorded on the camera screen it looks terribly grainy and bad is that the case with you or what can i do to fix that so it looks nice...

yes it does look grainy on my screen to, but I don't know what do do about it( and often just on the dark areas). it often looks better in the computer than on the screen :O

Because I know I wanted to watch movies that contain some of the Canon FS200 on youtube and then I always get different quality BV rotten first normal and then do very well then.: D. You need a program who can convert mpeg2 to mpeg1 or avi (or something like that). I use my Nero Vision 4 for that, but you can use programs as adobe premiere to convert too.

hehe x) it's a bit tricky in the beginning :P

you need to have the battery-charger connected to the camera, then start the camera and go to the place were you look at videos on the camcorder and connect the usb from the cam to the computer. choose the pc alternative when a menu pops up on the display. if you haven't installed the cd wich follows, do that :)

yes it does :) I don't know :S I've got an elder version of WMM(the XP version) and usually convert them to mpeg1 in nero vision, so in the older version of wmm the clips have to be mpeg1.

I have a question. I recently bought this camera, and I have no idea how to sync it with my computer. When i plug it in and turn it on, it does nothing on my computer. I have no idea what software to use (The given stuff doesn't work), and it doesn't work with Scanner and Camera Wizard. I'm so frustrated with this. hi there!

did you turn the cam to "watch video" mode before connecting the cam to the computer? and do you have the battery-charger conected to the cam? you have to do both when you're going to put pictures and videos to the computer from the cam. It will pop up a menu on the camcorder and there you need to choose pc-something- before it connects. i hope you understand and that it helps!

I had similar problem as well. I guess that software is not good. You can just browse for your files via Card Reader.

I'm not clever enough to use the pixela program, so I don't really know how to cut and stuff in the program, hehe xD I edit and cut the clips in Nero Vision and in WMM, I think that's easier :)

I can answer that, took a picture of my index finger as close as possible. Printed out the picture on an 8X10 photo paper and the ridges of the fingers looked like the Grand Canyon.

It is a great camera, the only drawback is there isn't a view finder to aim with, you have to use the LCD and under the sun you can't see it very well. However there is a grove on the top left that works great for aiming.....

yes it does shoot in 16:9 and 4:3, out of the box it will be set to 4:3 you must change that in the settings.

I'm not very sure about indoor shoots and green screen using, but I think If you use some good lights on your set, it might work, because I've noticed that if it is a bad light indoors it becomes a bit "blurry". I've been very busy lately with school-projects and other school stuff, but as soon as the summerbreak comes, I'll upload a new video with a lot of tests!

I don't know, I was going to buy the fs100 at first, but it became an "outgoing product" in the stores, so I bought the fs200 instead. I don't think that there is any big difference between the fs100 and the fs200 :)

no, the shot at the end is not by the same camera, that's my old "ordinary" camera(not a camcorder, a hp photosmart something). it's an old logo for my old private films, but I'm planning to do a new one. thanx again for the comment!
