  • hi there. im pretty new to the hobby and have a quick question. i just got my axn ( finaly) and when i ordered it i bought the nano tech 3S 45~90 lipos by accident. will that blow up my motor or just burn out really quick?should i try to return them?i really dont want to wait another 4 weeks to try the thing.argggg.

  • @stevegauth30 Don't worry about it -- the Nanotech batteries won't harm your plane. The 45-90C rating is just a "maximum" that the battery can deliver and your AXN motor won't draw nearly that much so no harm will be done. Think of it like having a 2 gallon bottle of drink versus a 1 pint bottle. You'll only drink as much as you need to quench your thirst, regardless of how much "potential" drink there is.

  • Hey do you know what the total weight copacity is for the Floater Jet?? I am making mine into a fpv and the discription on HK doesnt say.

  • I got all my gear today; AXN, Turnigy 9x, Accucell 6. So I'm pretty much ready to go. Your videos are invaluable.

  • Hi Bruce, I decided to go fly the AXN today and I had a blast... Easy to handle once trimmed in and I got 23 minutes flight time. However, I failed to discover that when the battery goes flat it kills everything (not just the motor) and that leads to a rather sudden fall with a nasty thump at the end. I had to glue and fibre tape the nose and the fuselage under the motor, but it's done and I am ready to fly again tomorrow. Great plane! My maiden videos are on my channel HallmarkAust...

  • Just spent a fabulous weekend flying a new AXN which I got on your recommendation just before Christmas. It's an absolutely fabulous bit of a plane! Fast, slow, zippy, floater, it does it all. We've had an unusual break in our usually interminable winter in Western Canada and the soaring was fabulous. Can't seem to hand-launch well yet but the ground take-offs work beautifully even off winter killed dry grass. Thanks for putting me onto this little dream... already have buddies wanting one...

  • Can anybody put a parts list together for me based in the UK. I do not need t/x but do need batts.

Please help I am getting confused with all the options.

    Tony

  • mmm time for a Guinness.

  • What transmitter do you recommend for an all around beginner transmitter?

  • @llbll777 turnigy 9x with no doubt

  • @linutas Thanks, you rock...

  • @llbll777 Bruce said he uses the 9x all the time too, just with better modules i believe, but the one that it comes with is just fine for beginners

  • Can you make it so the wings are removable for transit?

  • Is there a brand of glue available in NZ which is suitable for gluing the type of foam used in this plane?

  • I was planning on following your advice of building up the AXN ARF, but alas the USA warehouse has no 25-30A ESCs, not even listed. I guess I'll have to get the PNF and replace things as they break.

  • would this plane be fine with a 18a speed controller with the stock motor and 3cell. thanks

  • @hondamt100 A 18A ESC would be very marginal -- a 20/25 or 25/30 is a much safer option because you *will* want to fly this plane around at full throttle for extended periods -- it's so much fun.

  • Hi Bruce what is the part number for the HK 10g orange servos? While you are at it do you know the P/N for the collet prop adapter? Thank You Robert Rahko

  • @rahkopad The servos are the "HK15178 Analog Servo 10g" I think the SKU is 16257

  • Excellent as always Bruce! I was filled up with christmas food and did not manage to do some build of my own. Your AXN build did my day. (Just ordered one :-) )

  • i've just ordered this with every thing i need to make it air born, with hobby king 6 ch tx and with postage its come to around £117 wich seems like alot. but when you look at what you can get in uk hobby shops for that price your getting alot less. not even been able to find this plane in the uk,

  • Another good reason NOT to buy the ARF - One wing comes pre-glued - it's not possible to remove the "cover" without carving through the glue. Argh.

  • Nice Video Bruce.

  • Hi Bruce how much do you pay all up for the electronics in NZ $ Thanks

  • I lost my canopy the 3 flight .and yes I had a rubber band on it

but its still a very good plane

  • do you like the 9 gram hobbyking servos better than the hxt900s? i didn't think it was possible to beat one of those determined little donkeys.

  • More inspirational stuff. I can't buy one quickly enough! That's if it's possible in / from the UK. Thanks for the excellent advice.

  • @breezerabbitz

I looked a few days ago and you can get them in the UK but the postage just about doubles the price! Not sure if HobbyKing have them in the German warehouse which would make delivery time a bit shorter. I quite fancy one myself. I have a stack of 2200 3s Lipos I use for my Multiplex FunCub, another great foamie.

Thanks for the video, Bruce. As informative as ever

  • Bruce, This Series is The Best, Most Educational Aircraft Build I've Ever Seen!

    Thank You!

  • Nice posting Bruce..

  • Bruce, thanks for all the information and tips. @09:53 you mention that you will be making a video on glue's. Please make it quickly. I am longing for information on this. It will be wonderful if you include some information on different types of foam available for RC model building and which glue works best on them. I am totally confused about this subject.

  • Thank you very much for that detailed build video Bruce! Excellent presentation, a great help for anyone who'd like an easy flying yet exciting rc plane.

  • Great Video!

  • Is that an pulse jet powered plane in the background?

  • @kissa02 Yes it is. He has two or three of them and everything to make them also. Check out his other vids and you'll see him fly some.

    mason

  • so you can use a ESC with a higher rating than required? so if it calls for a 20a you can use more than that w/o problems?

  • @daveyedgar Yes but the ESC will be heavier or bigger than the reccomended one

  • amazingly helpful video.

  • Comment removed

  • any chance of linking all your build parts from Hobbyking? Dammed if I can find those 10g Orange servos.

  • @basadia when he says orange servos I think he is referring to the colour not the manufacturer, something like these on HK: HK15178

  • Bruce can you tell me how much space i will need to fly this plane ?

i started out on a cessna 182 from nitroplanes and it is a disaster ( really bad beginner plane, take up space really fast )

do you have any recommend small rc plane ? ( something that run off a 10g motor and a 2s or 3s battery ? )

im not a noob at rc, just doesnt have that much luck at avoiding trees and "plane-magnet" light pole.

  • @StewieRc Go buy a champ, $89 and you won't regret it.

  • @assaulter99 i already owned a 6ch TX and RX ( and a 6amp esc ) TBH i dont want a champ, i have a msr before and tbh the brick is super hard to scratch build airplane out of.

i want something that actually have battery, esc, motor and servo separated.

  • @StewieRc I picked up the E-flight Micro J3 Cub and have really liked it. It's fun to fly after I got the CG right by adding a penny in the front. My 7 year old son has learned to fly with this plane without a buddy box setup. Biggest consideration with this plane is flying in very little to no wind.

  • its true anyone can fly it

    trust me

  • It's uncanny how you cram so much "win" into a single video, Bruce. What would we do without them....

  • sir, what are your thoughts abouts the bixler?

  • @adit1001able Bixler is decent. The wing spar seems to be too small and breaking on people though.

  • Could this Bird be used for FPV?

  • @SubatomicRC Oh yeah....its basically a $40 Easystar. If you're in the US the Dynam Hawksky might be cheaper once you get done paying to ship the AXN and it's the same plane.

  • I lightly scored the hinge lines along the top using a ruler and a bluntish scribe . Otherwise the foam cells find their own crease and can lever against each other.

  • Would you know anything about the new Red Brick ESCs from HobbyKing, they seem to be pretty good.....but well, I don't have as much experience and an extra opinion always helps.

  • Bruce, I am using my iPhone to watch your video and can you put the part two and part three URL into the description section to speed up next video load. I am unable to watch part two because of limits iPhone has. This will be good also for all other videos you make in part in future. I just purchased the large I-Heli from Noel Lemmings for $180 to lift my video camera. Can you do a review on this too some time?

  • Bruce, the AXN is very similar to the Hobby King Bixler or BlitzRC Sky Surfer. Check out the 4 part building supplement on my channel. Lots of the same tips apply. I also have a video where I install a GoPro camera on it. Looking forward to more videos!

  • YES! this plane i excellent!

I had diffrent models but I diddent learn to fly until i got my clouds fly!

  • What are the all up costs with say $60 plus GST for your time added on?

  • Could you do a bixler/sky surfer? And I might get a axn sky floater. Thanks for the help
