Like it a lot! What a creative use out of recycled "dead" components. Though I don't see it becoming a craze like the Lava Lamp, I think I would have replaced my lava lamp for a while with this, had it been commercially available.
The preponderance of using the already existing power switch comes to mind, considering the amperage, not voltage would be the only matter in question, even a different switch in the old location would make it appropriate. Still looks cool! Kudos.
I would the switches (6?) to control the lamp or lamps, that backswitch is a complete fail on the whole scene. with those 6 buttons, you could have differente light tones and intensity... Its good, but complete fail on the backswitch.
@DarrellSpiceJr Yes, I know that, but nothing like a very small electronic fix to control lights with 5vdc, relays or a bit more expensive, solid relays, very easy to do. And the atari box has lots of space, it would look better, at least if I was to do such setup, I would use those switches, prolly I would also put a mains switch like this, but would use the buttons to control ligh.
I always feel saddened when games or game consoles have to be destroyed to make something but this is too cool it was definitely worth it for this! :D
In-freakin-credible! I was expecting, though, that the game on/game off switch was going to turn the lamp on and off :)
I would love to have one of those. Great job!

You should of made the power switch on the console the light switch and the color/B&W as a switch for a regular bulb and color LEDs

@tunespt the built in switches are made for 5V of DC power, they'd most likely melt if you put 110V of AC thru them.

@doktaluv Had you constructed and displayed the lamp prior to your wedding, it might not have happened.
I kid of course, but the premise is sound. :)
