  • When Portia DeGeneres was born, this was The Number One tune on The Billboard Pop Charts in The USA. When she married Ellen, They danced to the Stevie Wonder tune "Ribbon In The Sky" at their wedding. Both excellent tunes. I ask coincidence? You decide.

  • @kja427 I was a two year old toddler eating my Gerber baby food when this was filmed! My bro was born in '73. Can't go wrong with Stevie coincidence or not, teehee!

  • @Suzan4B

This is fantastic! Where are his postpones?

  • @MultiCathyU what are postpones?

  • @Suzan4B

LOL ..I mean where are singers like him now??? Only gangsta rappers are around...

  • @MultiCathyU oh! well it's true that a lot of the music(majority) is now hip hop, gangsta rap, etc. but for those who are truly of the music that is the basic foundation, soul and spirit of anything that is in today, will continue to buy his CD'a and enjoy what they have and wait /watch for him in concerts etc. Also, the younger than me group, the very hip ones who are really cool and musically sophisticated, are really into 80';s and 90's music! They appreciate and understand it

  • @Suzan4B

Nice to hear it! I though this culture is gone for good...

  • @MultiCathyU it's not in the mainstream but nowhere dead for sure! It's the respected basis for all that has been built over it! Theses are the artists, the makers the foundation of the fort! Let me not go on. I'm starting to sound religious! LOL! Amen

  • @Suzan4B

    Amen

  • Perfect!!!!

  • @hedenamusic what are postpones?

  • @Suzan4B

    ...i don't know...;-)...

  • @hedenamusic hi there and sorry I sent this to you! It was supposed to be for another comment! Anyway thanks for answering and isn't Stevie out of this world anyway??

  • @Suzan4B don't worry!.yes i agree with you, he is out of this world!

Everybody look at this link too ( tony bennet & steve )

    youtube/LMStRERJNsM

  • @hedenamusic will always blow me away! Also young Stevie Wonder stuff. Gifted from God

  • Just wondering how 7 people dislike this video and music?

  • This is a COOL video. Back in 1973, a LOT of people were COOL; in fact everyone in this video is COOL. Often these days, people are decidedly NOT cool. But back in the sixties and early seventies, people could quite often be cool. One thing for certain- this video is cool, the song is cool, and Stevie Wonder is cool, and as I said, so is everyone in this video. I long for COOL to return!

  • That cat on the drums "kilt" it!

  • deneice williams is up there

  • man, theres nothing wrong with this video...so funked.

  • That is, possibly, the greatest afro in the history of afros. So young, AWESOME drummer, AND the greatest afro ever? CRANK IT!

  • Happy birthday Stevie

  • YA THE DRUMS ARE RIGHT NEXT TO STEVIE ON THE STAGE, NOT IN BACK!!! =)

  • anyone notice Deniece Williams singing the horn parts?! Stevie didnt need a horn section when he had Niecey!!

  • @elterrible2007 Yeah, I was (slightly) disappointed to see that there was no brass section in that performance - until the background singer stepped up and started letting out those high notes ! A pure moment of happiness.

  • One of the songs i crank up when it comes on the radio ^_^

  • How is a young Steve Jordan on drums. Classsic!

  • @kdwrighty He needs an afro again :)

  • How is a yound Steve Jordan on drums. Classsic!

  • Thats gottabe the best ratio between Likes and Dislikes ever!

  • 7 people tried to imitate Stevie's blindness and pressed the dislike button by accident. Some people are assholes.

  • groovy for sure...

  • As much as i like this live version,,I miss those heavy horns that really seem to make the song and drive the song home.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • @rockinroller7 you are right the horns drive this song

  • @MegaJuanB

Yeah, for me, from the time I first heard this song, up to this date, it's hard to recall a song where horns have been more influential/utilized in another song.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • it doesnt get much groovier than this!

  • i luv this vid man keep doing wat u do stevie "ill live on forever as the best

  • epic speed up in the inttro xD

  • This was recorded in germany, a music-show on tv called `Musik-Laden´ (look at 1.05)/ Musicstore) - if you look in the audience, you will see a lot of pale german hippies, enjoying the delight of live-music. This steve-wonder-song is the most shown of his on german tv.

  • see mtv??? see muchmusic?? thats what the people likes....not the shit of gaga or daddy yankee...stop that cut it out....the people wants more music and if the people right know dont know how do it...dont fuck it sell us shit :) thx.

  • ive got to agree with mixingbowl13 some of the music these days is way to over compensated qith electronics thats why i love seeing bands do acoustic sets shows the real talent they hold instead of the electrofixed crap

  • i do this on kareoke, thank you stevie x

  • i am very superstitous about the people who put thumbs down for this this one!! even stevie could press the correct button and we all know his eyes are not to good. get a grip people, this is amazing!!!

  • Uhh... I realized now the first time what MUSIC is.

  • Thumbs up! If you remember this song from THE THING 1982!

  • Gotta love that funky song.........

Stevie funks and he does it with a smile..

  • Tear the roof off, Stevie

  • Is it just me or does the white guy on the guitar look extremely out of place!!

  • 6 don't like = 6 assholes

  • @jecks4 I'd call it "6 with different tastes from you".

  • @Ant57fr ma vai a cagher :)

  • How can even people think black people is below white people...? Oh wait, they never heard this.

  • funky

  • When that backup singer started belting out the horn section part.....I stopped and said WOW!

What a perfect twist to an already perfect song

  • @thebrokenrattle --...the woman's name is Denise Williams!!! She worked with Stevie before she went solo.

  • epic like if you think so too!!!!

  • ONE WORD FOR YOU POSERS!!!OH HELLL YEA!! THANK YA STEVIE

  • i didn't know ben wallce knows how to play the drums

  • this live version sounds 1000 times better than the anothers

  • thumbs up is u get goosebumps anytime u hear this song

  • kick ass song!!

  • See those things the people on stage are holding? They're call instruments -- and they're playing them. See that thing Stevie is sing into? It's called a live microphone -- and Stevie is singing into it. No autotune, no lipsyncing, and no semi-naked women; just pure funk and talent.

  • @mixingbowl3 sir, 5 star post.

  • @mixingbowl3 WORDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @mixingbowl3 Amen

  • @mixingbowl3 Sadly at some time, people decided machines make better music than people do. Even a lot of musicans are guilty of this mindset.

  • @mixingbowl3 hahaa nice way of telling it hahaaa

  • @mixingbowl3

And they're playing the sh*t out of them. Those people are there to play, and they're doing it with brilliance, verve and talent.

  • @mixingbowl3 I'm sure there were many naked women after their set.

  • @mixingbowl3 You got that right! There was a time when music meant something...I just don't feel it in most of today's artists.

  • @mixingbowl3 whoa, someone a little bitter?

  • @mixingbowl3 And TONS of GROOVE!

  • @mixingbowl3 they don't perform yet produce "pop" music like this anymore do they lol.

  • @mixingbowl3 You certainly overstate the obvious :D & i know you'd need to coz 7 bellends don't know real music from the mainstream riff raff crap played nowadays.

  • @mixingbowl3 yeah okay but that does not invalidate any music that does not have people playing instruments or that uses auto-tune etc songs that use those and different elements have been known to be almost if maybe as great as this

  • @mixingbowl3 funny enough because there is a semi-naked man playing the drums

  • @mixingbowl3 -- Amen.

  • What a great video.THANKS!

  • Uuiuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • God what a fonky-ass groove. That crowd didn't even know how good a performance they were watching.

  • how can anyone not like this? this is real talent. none of this fake, shitty, pop crap like todays music.

  • still the best

  • live!

  • From Whine b/c he's Blind to SHINE and he's BLIND!!!!!!

  • Fantastic stuff

  • Is that Dionne Warwick? The rightmost backup singer with tambourine?

  • @manuelergcruz

I don't think so. She's great, but she was never that funky.

  • @manuelergcruz

Also, I'm not sure why Dionne Warwick would sing backup. A duet, maybe, but backup.

  • @EuphrasieF Nope it's not her..I only thought of it because it looks just like DW..lol

  • a class apart.

  • Quality

  • Cooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

  • THE Riff is what makes it plus the lyrics are fantastic one of the creators of funk

  • I wish they would have let them keep playing at the end, they were just starting a badass groove.

  • that one backup singer should shut the heck up. the orange afro one

  • This is in my YouTube top ten. The guy just oozes talent and class. Only 23 years old and he was writing stuff like this.

  • MUSIC AT ITS PUREST IT JUST DOESNT COME ANY BETTER THAN THIS BRILLIANT FROM START TO FINISH

  • Comment removed

  • Shame they cut off the badass guitarist just as he was getting his groove on at the end :(

Where is this music nowadays? Everyone still likes it so why do we put up with manufactured dross like Justin Bieber and all the rap gansta cribbs wanabee gat-toting tools that dominate the charts. We need a musical revolution.

  • exactly

  • Do you know who is on bass ? James Jamerson ?

  • I wonder if Stevie knows his guitarist is white?

  • @mattmit Stevie doesn't even know what white is. Lol.

  • Stevies totally ripped off andre 3000's style here.

  • @mattmit LOL mental retardation at its best! Two absolutely insultingly stupid questions on one video! Grats!

  • @DivineToker

I believe there's 3 if you look back a bit further.

  • Maravilhoso Stevie!! Pure genious, and what a band...

  • Who's the drummer? Love this version!

  • SO FUNKY

  • The sesame street version is better.

  • why can't contemporary sing on key in live performances? (exceptions to a few)

This is my morning alarm at it gives me a very positive start to the day :)

  • I consider myself to be generally cynical, but people who feel they must say something bad about this vid, blow it out your arseholes. He wrote brilliant music, and if he performed this song with nothing but a hurdy-gurdy and Yoko Ono screaming over it I may not like it, but I would accept it. If anyone wrote anything this good this day and age they'd be all up their own asshole, whiny, and unable to STFU about their "art."

  • drummer speeds up sooo much its soo annoying

  • thats amazing how a blind man (ray, stevie for example) can play and instrument better than a man with his vision

  • @JasonDavie You can use a keyboard to type without looking at it, can't you? Well, a blind man can just as easily remember where the notes on the guitar or piano are without needing to see them. Vision is not necessary, and in fact, not having it forces you to memorize which can make you a better and quicker learner than someone with vision.

  • @Virginityrocks ahhh good point bout the keyboard :) i see what you mean, although i'm terrible with a keyboard :S lol

  • Human tempo always fluctuates, start at 100 pbm and you will end up at 105, no way around this unless you use a click track. As long as the tempo doesn't go to low then it is all good. Try an experiment: take a metron. and find the the tempo for a particular tune, then start the tune and the Met. at the same time and you will find that the band will be a pit faster as the song progresse's. It is also what makes the music interesting and moving. This tune is great !!!!!!!

  • They seem to have a problem maintaining a persistant tempo..it fluctuates during the performance..

    Still a brilliant song though.

  • @Lytton333 ...Have you ever played live ? A little thing called adrenalin is usually in charge. Perfect tempo can only exist in the studio anyway..... unless it's one of the no talent hacks that lip-sync their performances.

  • "it still sucks man" :D

  • Stevie is the man! wish the video didnt cut off in the middle of the jam though : (

  • Dat 'fro!

  • These motherfuckers JAM!!!! Imagine actually being there!

  • Wow- another great live version of Superstition!

  • This song Rocks!

  • Fone-Key...hell yea!

  • Stevie's so cool.

  • love this song.check out my version please:)

  • One of the best tunes...that's how to play the clavinet.

  • Amazing!!!
