I really don't understand why they get off the side of their bikes to do the really steep downhills. Some would argue that it is because you can get away from the bike if you start going to fast, but they hang onto the bikes no matter how fast they start going. They would be able to get down some of those hills easily if they stayed on the bikes or just let the bikes slide down on their own.

I have not had experience racing the red bull romaniacs. But I have rode similar terrain and I find it always easier and safer to ride down stuff then side saddle it.
