Man, I was just wondering where you learned this method. I can believe you did NOT get off mower to replace flag stick. Get off your but BEFORE you start then replace when finished then fix a few ball marks while you are at it before you go to next green. Cleanup cut was a little fast. What's with all the scalping? Brutal job.
You Need to learn how to cut a green :| Double lining? Lazyness? Perimeter- missed a LOT, Cutting into the apron. not a good idea.. If i were you i would get some lessons on doing it again.. im an apprentice and i dont do none of that.
Not a good idea - because if your previous line was not straight you're doomed. Focus on an object several hundred yards away (or as far as possible), and move your body (not the mower) towards it. Don't break eye contact. With experience you can mow an entire green this way "laser straight", or at least get your first past straight so you have a foundation to "trace your tire mak" with.
Besides the 80's porno music and the greens being destroyed I was actually looking for some tricks/tips to make lines a little straighter. I usually trace my tire mark, works better then eyeing it. Wondering what you all think. Thanks
Dude. Don't take the flag out sitting on your mower! Get off - Fix Ball Marks - Pull the flag - Mow - Cleanup - Put the flag back. This is a poor example of greens mowing. Lines are not straight, you're mohawking, and you're pivoting too sharp in the rough, which tears up the turf. At 4:10 you scalped the green edge. Again at 4:35 and your cleanup is a little fast. This is a good example of what not to do.
@troycenter1 Hey so I am wondering how much overlap you usually do to make lines straighter. I usually trace my tire on tire mark, huge overlap, little lines but very straight. I just learned this, been working greensmaster3500 for 3 months. Thanks
Wow, must be pretty relaxed up there. Picking up flag by stopping in the middle of the green! The my friend, not so straight lines. not to mention starting in the middle of the green to begin with!!! You don't remember in training being taught to start on the outside of the green case you had a leaky hydraulic? ok then
turning on the green to the flag, NOT GOOD! Stopping at the cup, NOT GOOD! LOL! try to widen your turns out a bit on the approach, wheels ripping the grass
dude , your not very precise are you , if i was your boss i'd be very unhappy with that level of ability , the green aprons have been butchered , your missing bits between stripes at 2:05 , double striping , turning too sharp when you come off the green and to top it off you dont even get off the machine to take the pin out , would ya not pull up to the green , get off the mower and take the pin out and leave it off the green and replace it when your done, you'd be raking bunkers where i work
The comments are great. You guys didn't miss a thing. I like the video but you the results would be unacceptable at my place. it looks like the collars have been butchered from the result of going way too fast on the clean up.
Sloppy man mowhaks and he definitely had a fatty white line in the middle of the green because he mowed the same direction... Work your splitter lines the right way bud

Classic, taking the flag out and putting in while on the mower. Spinning on your turns, missed cuts, two strips same direction. Good training

At 2:03... At the rightish side of the frame there is a sliver of a cut that was missed. that's at least a six pack mistake Hehehe

Also avoid stopping on the gree in the middle of a cut.. Get off your ass to take the pin out.

@codebluetruma Yes never ever stop on a green, but NEVER ever get off the machine to get the flag- that is a waste of time.

Very cool video, especially for a fellow golf course grounds worker.
You might want to watch the mohawks and, avoid double striping though.
