  • @GPagan41 i would love to see you do what he just did. plus if you new anything you would realize that people do this occasionally in their lifts. it keeps constant stress on the chest through out the lift so its mostly chest and less triceps and front delts. so know what your talking about before you call someone a jackass

  • The Planet Fitness around me has dumbbells that only go up to 60 lbs, and 2 smith machines with about 90 lbs worth of plates on each. They do have about 900 treadmills though.

  • @tommunist10 I've seen some people use the term "maxing out" to mean taking a set to failure. So in this case it would mean max reps instead of max weight.

  • @Rozzombie25 ...well that is because one uses that usually while doing 1rm... ...but as in this example - the nfl combine competition which we do once a year as well in our gym just for fun - you go max out with a given weight - 225 pounds in this case - and see how many reps you can do... ...2 meanings of maxing out - max out with x weight for 1 rep or max out with f.e. 225 pounds of weight for x reps...

By the looks of this guy he's more of a powerlifter who's used to doing probably 8, 6, 4 reps each set and the point is he's at planet fitness so he cannot get enough weight to do enough weight for 8 reps so he's doing like 26

  • @Rozzombie25 A max-out set simply means you MAX OUT your output on a set at a given weight. You are confusing the term with the idea of a one rep max. A max-out set is just doing as much REPS as you can in that one SET. Rather than having a pre-defined set of let's say 5-8 reps, or 10-12 reps, you do a MAX OUT set, meaning you do as many as you can at a given weight. It doesn't require you to get 1 or 2 reps as you said.

  • I agree with Major Melon. Those are legit lifts. Further, 25 reps is a helluva lot higher than the 11 I can do. And, I am damned proud of my 11 reps of 225. I can one rep max at 305. Goal is to hit 370. Two years and a few months ago I was only able to one rep max 185. LASTLY: HATERS POST YOURSELF DOING BETTER OR SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!

  • He actually did a really good job of lifting this. Just because his tempo was fast does not mean his lift was not the full ROM. The bar touched his chest and he didn't fully extend his arms, which is exactly what he was supposed to do, so how is that not the full ROM? Sure he may have had some bounce, but repping 225 pounds around 20 times takes a ton of muscular endurance.

Usually from what I've noticed from seeing others any my own training if im lifting a lighter weight and just looking to do a ton of reps you lessen up the ROM a little to carry a better momentum into the next rep. When you're actually lifting heavy every rep is a struggle and for some reason you automatically use a bigger ROM. Just my .02
