I don't know about you guys but this song makes me think of more bad memories than good ones. o-o I love the title, so much. I will not forget that I have forgotten...what it feels like to be innocent.
This is the absolute most beautiful song that has ever graced my ears. Reminds me of early mornings on Lake Nutmeg where I would sit in my rocking chair looking out at the goats riding jet skis on the lake. They weren't very good, but gosh darn it they tried. They tried! And one morning, I could have sworn I heard one goat say to another, "I love you" as they rode those waves into oblivion. And while those quieter times are gone now, my memory of them will live on forever thanks to Eluvium.
Definitely not Adam Young. The name's Matthew Cooper, but Adam Young did write some pretty awesome instrumental music under the moniker "Port Blue" which you should certainly check out.
God I hate all the emo comments on these types of "emotional piano music" vids. Let us enjoy the experience without your inane personal ramblings that you are associating with this music... and worse yet, people voting them up to the point that I have to see part of such crap at the bottom of my screen.
@KingCrimson776 when I was a kid my dad never talked to me much. i always got the feeling i was a disappointment. he made one attempt - to get me to play baseball and when i lost my first big match he looked at me and said "forget it", and the look in his eyes... but i never forgot. until one day...
@KingCrimson776 ...i went into his old office and opened a drawer, and inside i found all these photos, cards i made for him, all stacked, above all the rest of his old documents, and I couldn't remember anymore why i had felt such anger towards him. for the first time since I was 10 i cried. this is the soundtrack of our memories together - the ones that could have happened
FINALLY! Finally I've found something like that. Oooooohhh! It's so calm, so peaceful, so mature, not verses, no chorus, no fear of the listener getting bored, so much thought, so much feeling, it's just awesome! I'm out of words. This is pure magic!!!
The thing I like the most about ambient music, if I had to put my finger on it, is that it has a story behind it unlike most other kinds, in that you aren't told the story, you just listen to it. And I love that, because when you're told a story, that's it, it has that one outcome, that one meaning. But listening to a story, you decide the meaning, the outcome, everything. In a sense, the music becomes yours, the story becomes yours...
why do these songs have to always be interpreted in sociological terms? why does it have to be about someone's life and its errors or goals or whatever..? can't you see the raw beauty of it without mixing your problems in it? you should be thankful that you're alive in the first place and can listen to masterpieces like that... makes you feel good that you're alive
Anytime I get to feeling misanthropic, what with war, corruption, greed, environmental waste etc, I listen to music like this or look at a nice piece of art and realize that there is still a benevolent side to humanity that will always counter our malevolent side. Thanks Eluvium.
This is bringing the best out of me, the best i've had, the best people gave me. But it's bringing the worse too, bad memories, it's like this strange moment when you see your life like if it was a crappy movie, and you think : "i'm doing wrong, i'm waisting my time" This song is just making me think about me, my life, my true feelings. Thank you for that.
the first time I ever heard this song, I had rented the CD from the library... I had never heard of Eluvium before but I looked at the album cover with the two stick creatures standing on a grassy cliff and knew that I had to listen to it. It was raining that day. I put the CD in, and when I got home I didn't even get out of my car. I just sat there listening to this beautiful song, watching the rain and thinking about life's beauty. That was the first time I cried in a long, long time.
If you like Eluvium, Helios, Goldmund, Hammock, Boards of Canada, Rachel's, The Album Leaf, and other similar artists, you may like my stuff. I'd love some support! :)
Check out The Perennials! They are a really great band and their music is beautiful. You can find them on youtube, facebook, myspace, wordpress, itunes, etc.
@genericusername337 It's music like this that truly brings forth peoples deepest emotions, which make us understand one another and unites us under the same sky, as one.If you're not capable of realizing this,I truly pity you, but how about just taking your naive comments elsewhere instead, would you.
like a flashback to the past, everyone seems like looking at you, but actually they don't. when there's an action need to be take, but you just stunned at your spot, dunno what to do and how to do. It recalls every second i've missed to do what i suppose to do.
At times it's the easiest way just to forget everything that causes you sadness and trouble.. So things that you are trying to bury deep in your mind while protecting yourself should be left forgotten, or it'll hurt you once you're brave enough to dig them up again. Though if you never liberate those feelings from their graves it may give you even worse melancholy..
...So, you can sit here, moving in the words "why didn't I...?" and "I should've..." leaving no room for the "I'm going to..."'s and "I think I should..."'s. And you'll descend into madness. You'll forget what you were here to do and it'll kill you slowly. But you must not let your mind overtake itself. You must constantly tell yourself "I will not forget", never tell yourself that "I have forgotten."
Between Lambent Material & When I Live By The Garden..., there isn't an ounce of doubt in my mind that Matt is the most powerful composer I will ever hear. His music seems to move through the listener, rather than merely play at them. I have yet to find another musician whose sound is as intense as it is simple and elegant.
This is a new conscious stream of fantasy subduing my reality with beautiful imagery sweetly sung. All I will hear after today is the sound of Gods' cosmic radio dial turned all the way up.
yeah.. a beach or a clearance in the woods near a creek or river bank. Alone.. Reflecting on other times in the past, and reexperiencing them as if you went back in time, and wish you could change the way things went, but you're just trapped frozen in your body, forced to watch things repeats as outside of your memory in present time, tears unknowingly flood from your face to the water, proceding to flow down stream and merge with the tears and sorrows of others, all adjoined on the same path.

@xTommyGirlx If only it were as easy as that. Being who you are, I don't guess but know that within x days, weeks, months this little, and good, prep talk had to be replaced by something else. In a way, while you can call being m-d, being 'pure at heart', you can also call it needing to suffer, and to elevate yourself in your suffering; to reach out and keep feeling misunderstood, whether you are or not, and so live Rilke's "Who's alone is in the mystery."
When I listen to this song, I think about all of my friends, past, present and possibly future... and I see just how lucky I am to have lived the life that I have, but I also see how unlucky I am to have had friends who have turned on me, and also those that have stayed strong, and even renewed friendships with people I thought i'd never talk to again.

We are all sleeping Budas.. we all have a deity hidden somewehere deep down...
it was so before we were born and when we were yet a child..
When we experienced the world for the first time, fully
without anyone telling us whats it all about..
And it WILL be rememered, the seeds will soon sprout...
:)
That we have forgotten this is the greatest error..
This is why we live in sorrow, pain..
anguish and terror...
