  • thought i had accidentally eaten a bag of shrooms when the video started playing

  • Eluvium sounds like a drug...

It's one hell of a drug, then.

  • when you're on crack this song sounds like garbage

  • 3:45 - one of the most beautiful things i've ever heard.

  • Oxymoron?

  • I don't know about you guys but this song makes me think of more bad memories than good ones. o-o I love the title, so much. I will not forget that I have forgotten...what it feels like to be innocent.

  • This is the absolute most beautiful song that has ever graced my ears. Reminds me of early mornings on Lake Nutmeg where I would sit in my rocking chair looking out at the goats riding jet skis on the lake. They weren't very good, but gosh darn it they tried. They tried! And one morning, I could have sworn I heard one goat say to another, "I love you" as they rode those waves into oblivion. And while those quieter times are gone now, my memory of them will live on forever thanks to Eluvium.

  • Whoah, I swear to gog I'm not kidding , when the screen started moving like that, I thought I was having an acid flashback :/ .

  • Reminds me of loved ones I cant get back.....even people I dont know...im in tears Im pray for the best of my generation also for me...:)

  • what the hell are all you pussies talking about forget your pasts the past does not exist.

  • @Disposition446 #1 es brazilia

  • sometimes i wish i could turn youtube comments off

  • @ReanimaterR uhggg tell me about it.

  • Who has written this piece? My friend thinks it's Adam Young, but I don't know

    No offence, Adam...

  • @524Lissa

Definitely not Adam Young. The name's Matthew Cooper, but Adam Young did write some pretty awesome instrumental music under the moniker "Port Blue" which you should certainly check out.

  • @droueche58 I know! Port Blue is pretty awesome :) I love Adam's songs :) He's my fav! :D

  • I just noticed the pic is moving :o

  • God I hate all the emo comments on these types of "emotional piano music" vids. Let us enjoy the experience without your inane personal ramblings that you are associating with this music... and worse yet, people voting them up to the point that I have to see part of such crap at the bottom of my screen.

  • @KingCrimson776 I see you've purchased the internet.

  • @KingCrimson776 when I was a kid my dad never talked to me much. i always got the feeling i was a disappointment. he made one attempt - to get me to play baseball and when i lost my first big match he looked at me and said "forget it", and the look in his eyes... but i never forgot. until one day...

  • @KingCrimson776 ...i went into his old office and opened a drawer, and inside i found all these photos, cards i made for him, all stacked, above all the rest of his old documents, and I couldn't remember anymore why i had felt such anger towards him. for the first time since I was 10 i cried. this is the soundtrack of our memories together - the ones that could have happened

  • @genericusername337 Thanks for that, I lol'd.

  • So alone.

  • I

    Love

    You

    ♥

  • Heavy.

  • FINALLY! Finally I've found something like that. Oooooohhh! It's so calm, so peaceful, so mature, not verses, no chorus, no fear of the listener getting bored, so much thought, so much feeling, it's just awesome! I'm out of words. This is pure magic!!!

  • The thing I like the most about ambient music, if I had to put my finger on it, is that it has a story behind it unlike most other kinds, in that you aren't told the story, you just listen to it. And I love that, because when you're told a story, that's it, it has that one outcome, that one meaning. But listening to a story, you decide the meaning, the outcome, everything. In a sense, the music becomes yours, the story becomes yours...

  • @xN8Gx I just copied and pasted your comment into a note so I can keep it forever.

  • @paytenl12 ditto

  • @xN8Gx i remember saying that

  • why do these songs have to always be interpreted in sociological terms? why does it have to be about someone's life and its errors or goals or whatever..? can't you see the raw beauty of it without mixing your problems in it? you should be thankful that you're alive in the first place and can listen to masterpieces like that... makes you feel good that you're alive

  • Anytime I get to feeling misanthropic, what with war, corruption, greed, environmental waste etc, I listen to music like this or look at a nice piece of art and realize that there is still a benevolent side to humanity that will always counter our malevolent side. Thanks Eluvium.

  • You only need to read the comments to realize that Eluvium makes the greatest songs in the world...

  • This is bringing the best out of me, the best i've had, the best people gave me. But it's bringing the worse too, bad memories, it's like this strange moment when you see your life like if it was a crappy movie, and you think : "i'm doing wrong, i'm waisting my time" This song is just making me think about me, my life, my true feelings. Thank you for that.

  • To onegnomemetorule:

You're looking at it like you can ever be who you are... is that ever really possible? We are everything combined, in a sense.

  • the first time I ever heard this song, I had rented the CD from the library... I had never heard of Eluvium before but I looked at the album cover with the two stick creatures standing on a grassy cliff and knew that I had to listen to it. It was raining that day. I put the CD in, and when I got home I didn't even get out of my car. I just sat there listening to this beautiful song, watching the rain and thinking about life's beauty. That was the first time I cried in a long, long time.

  • αλλού εντελώς....

  • αλλού εντελώς....

  • To the 8 souls who disliked this, I must say that I will never understand you.

  • If you like Eluvium, Helios, Goldmund, Hammock, Boards of Canada, Rachel's, The Album Leaf, and other similar artists, you may like my stuff. I'd love some support! :)

  • i felt like i was watching the universe breath in and out , and it made feel at peace know that we are same

  • ISNT THIS SONG ON SEVEN POUNDS

  • OMG what's with everyone being corny on this page. there's deep and personal then there's embarrassing

  • @genericusername337 It's music like this that truly brings forth peoples deepest emotions, which make us understand one another and unites us under the same sky, as one.If you're not capable of realizing this,I truly pity you, but how about just taking your naive comments elsewhere instead, would you.

  • @genericusername337 ANY music related videos has something corny and horrible on it.

  • like a flashback to the past, everyone seems like looking at you, but actually they don't. when there's an action need to be take, but you just stunned at your spot, dunno what to do and how to do. It recalls every second i've missed to do what i suppose to do.

  • it's funny how the title of a song makes people think that they actually think of something because of the song and not just the title:)

  • This gave me chills

  • At times it's the easiest way just to forget everything that causes you sadness and trouble.. So things that you are trying to bury deep in your mind while protecting yourself should be left forgotten, or it'll hurt you once you're brave enough to dig them up again. Though if you never liberate those feelings from their graves it may give you even worse melancholy..

  • @Emerli attachment to desire is the cause of suffering. let that which does not matter go. end habits that do not better you.

  • The title is perfect... this is beautiful. I will never forget that I have forgotten what it felt like before you left.

  • Very nicely done! Excellent!

  • ...So, you can sit here, moving in the words "why didn't I...?" and "I should've..." leaving no room for the "I'm going to..."'s and "I think I should..."'s. And you'll descend into madness. You'll forget what you were here to do and it'll kill you slowly. But you must not let your mind overtake itself. You must constantly tell yourself "I will not forget", never tell yourself that "I have forgotten."

  • This reminds me of death.

  • @Enceladux Which you obviously already experienced several times now.

  • wow, crushing. Beautiful misery

  • Ive read some of the comments and its clear this music really gets you deep in your soul. A new favorite I think!

  • Between Lambent Material & When I Live By The Garden..., there isn't an ounce of doubt in my mind that Matt is the most powerful composer I will ever hear. His music seems to move through the listener, rather than merely play at them. I have yet to find another musician whose sound is as intense as it is simple and elegant.

  • .youtube.com/watch?v=ZutsW1xhyA4

  • This is a new conscious stream of fantasy subduing my reality with beautiful imagery sweetly sung. All I will hear after today is the sound of Gods' cosmic radio dial turned all the way up.

  • magical music! when I read the comments here I got just agreed :)

  • the name of this song is absolutely genius... and the music is breath taking...

so glad i've found this band

  • i am very much enjoying this

  • beautiful.

  • Eluvium is beauty and perfection in sweet simplicity.

  • <33333333333333333333

  • Meditate. Peace of mind.

  • Looking at this video at high speeds looks kind of odd.

  • Ahauntingly spectacular.....it builds slowely till its layered nicely in my head...

  • God. Fuck. this is too good.

  • I like music. It tickles my hide.

  • Thank you :D It's just really healthy to get in tune with your emotions and just express yourself with music, I think. Even if it's just for yourself

  • This simple video is a WOW!!! The trees became waves...it felt like a underworld, under water

  • i remember....

  • nice video

  • I love When I Live by the Garden and the Sea! Matthew Cooper's genius knows no bounds. Anyone who "gets" his music should feel privileged.

  • I love it.

  • I prefer New Animals From the Air or All the Sails. All of When I Live By The Garden And The Sea is beautiful though, especially when it's together.

  • Didn't know this one yet. I gotta say I prefer "Taken" or "New Animals from the Air", though.

  • This is my favorite Eluvium tune. However, I have always envisioned it near a beach.

  • yeah.. a beach or a clearance in the woods near a creek or river bank. Alone.. Reflecting on other times in the past, and reexperiencing them as if you went back in time, and wish you could change the way things went, but you're just trapped frozen in your body, forced to watch things repeats as outside of your memory in present time, tears unknowingly flood from your face to the water, proceding to flow down stream and merge with the tears and sorrows of others, all adjoined on the same path.

  • Now you're just being an overdramatic faggot, sweetheart.

  • Well, my apologies. I didn't realize that being inspired makes somebody a faggot. Oh gosh, better keep that one in mind. My bad if this is the story that went through my mind as I listened to this song, and I'm even sorrier that you don't understand.

  • I'm just playing with you, relax.

  • then don't read it. It's there for the people who relate, not those who are going to flame.

  • um.. is that really necessary? To relate to the thoughts of someone who tries to see beauty in life and music.

  • The problem with baring your soul like that, is you're going to get put down no matter what.

Learn to be cautious with your words and actions- you are a girl, but regardless.

I used to be like you- I realized this was just a vulnerability. Bury your emotions, save them for someone you care about. Not this shitty internet.

  • The thing is though, I'm ready for that. I'm bipolar, and strangely enough, the odd things that make me who I am - I'm proud of them. I'm not afraid for people to redicule me for my "insanity", or just saying things that go against what everybody else thinks. I used to bury my emotions.. for a long time. But I had no one I cared about. Every time I confided in someone close to me, they'd betray me. So I don't care anymore. I'm not afraid, I'm not going to hide. This is just me. Bring it world.

  • Fair enough.

  • @xTommyGirlx HELL YEAH! nice words from the bottom of your delicated soul. Like that words, man. Just needed to read it.

  • @xTommyGirlx

I signed in just to give you a thumbs up

  • @vnikosv

    Thanks, man :D

  • @xTommyGirlx Amen.

  • @xTommyGirlx

    lol,"come at me bro"

  • @xTommyGirlx If only it were as easy as that. Being who you are, I don't guess but know that within x days, weeks, months this little, and good, prep talk had to be replaced by something else. In a way, while you can call being m-d, being 'pure at heart', you can also call it needing to suffer, and to elevate yourself in your suffering; to reach out and keep feeling misunderstood, whether you are or not, and so live Rilke's "Who's alone is in the mystery."

  • @xTommyGirlx

    Love your spirit.

  • Sorry, I was just having an irritable moment. I think I don't take well to being put down.

  • I know where you are coming from, nobody does.

Just don't make so much of an effort, you know?

  • I know there are other people like me...

Yeah though, I know what you mean.. this kind of stuff just spills out of my head. All I do is write it as is.

  • Then I am sorry.

  • ah, no prob. Thank you ^^

  • When I listen to this song, I think about all of my friends, past, present and possibly future... and I see just how lucky I am to have lived the life that I have, but I also see how unlucky I am to have had friends who have turned on me, and also those that have stayed strong, and even renewed friendships with people I thought i'd never talk to again.

  • that comment totally must've been fate or something, as the thought of friendships.. in all of those sense, were exactly what had been running through my head as I got the notification of this reply. And I like what this song gave you very much :)

  • Friendship is like the stem of a beautiful flower and we are the blossoms that are produced from it. Without friendship we could not live.

  • I share the same with you

  • @zackfair5580 your not unlucky. it happens to everyone. some people just suck

  • This is a great one. Emotion, building.

  • One of Eluvium's cinematic tunes, this one being somewhat melancholic and bittersweet. Classy tune, cool video, even if pretty one-sided.
