Agreed with im550, don't like the original romances, look up the mods that I'm sure are still around. I think there's even one that lets you win Keldorn away from his harpy shrew of a wife. >.>

I agree with some of the comments about they will never make them like this again..most rpgs these days are in first person view..and more real life..the baldurs gate series was like reading an epic novel...the way npc's communicated to one another..story, characters..the whole game made you use your imagination..and that is what made this game in my opinion one of the greatest rpg's of all time....

Hm. They probably should have spent more time on male to female relationships in this game. When you're a male character, all the females on the team are at eachother's throats, but only one male character will fall in love with a female.

I'm male, but I think the game would have been better if both genders got similar experiences from the game. I know guys aren't the only ones that play D+D. After all, that's likely why they put the romance aspect in the game in the first place.

I do think they have other relasionships aswell, but not to you as the player,, like that bard elf falls inlove with Aerie. But other than that, I think Anomen is the only character you get which fits to fall inlove with you lorewise, as other characters already have a family.(not all but most) And the game isnt about romance, its just a interesting sideline story.

True, but they've got all the female characters at each other's throats over the main character if he's male, but only one male character that falls for a main character if she's a female. It's a lot less on the female side of the storyline, whether it's the main story, or just on the side.

Not a huge aspect of the game, I know. But they appealed so much to being a male character, that a female character seems to be missing a good chunk of storyline.

It's definitely possible. BG isn't very hard at all to mod.

Then again, with mods, one could also have an intimate homosexual marriage with a trans-gender kobold, if one were so inclined. I would hope it to be for the lolz, but you never know-there are some pretty creepy people out there that would dig that sort of thing.

Have you tried any mods for BG? Best one I know is Darkest Day and it adds more NPC banter and increases the AI of monsters. Anyhoo, I'm just agreeing with you and also saying you can upgrade the NPC interaction.

I'll probably be shot down for this, but I consider Anomen to be the most interesting romance in BG2. He's a bit obnoxious in the beginning, but once you get past that his character really has depth. He's easily the most believable character. A real man with (very) real issues. ^_^

Mainly because I tend to play "sunshine pouring out of my backside" good guys, and it's hard to recruit Edwin when you're nice. ^_^

Lol. I'm trying to play a Chaotic Neutral Musician (bard mod) but it's hard to play it. He's a liar so I have to use good guy responses - which means I have to do a lot of pretending my campaign. (Because the game thinks I'm a goodie but I'm pretending I'm not; I'm just lying ). And yes I meant Edwin. I like him for a few reasons: he's an asshole and he's the (literally) best mage in the game - yet so many people would rather use Nalia or Imoen, why? I have no idea.

I'm currently trying to avoid sending one of my NPC's to stand in a corner for a quest but I'm having no luck. Yes, my bard does have Knock (very useful for the obvious reason) but it's the trap that'll set off the Temple alarm. :\

Mods are your friends. There is one that removes the gender restriction codes from the romances, and there are several mod-created NPCs that offer gay romance opportunities.
