you talk in a lisp. I stutter too wanting know no disrespect, is that a tip does it help I know alot of people who stutter and they sound like that because you're not really stuttering talking like that would be better than stuttering so I might try it. i would feel self conscious
@Sean544life Haha so yeah I don't think I usually talk in a lisp. Watching this video I noticed that, but I don't think I usually talk like that. I have other videos that you can watch and see. It's not a purposeful thing, anyway.
hey i my self studer and just like u wen im not on my playstation talkin to people im like wow i need to stop talkin im just in middle school and its hard to tell everyone over n over u know well thanks for ur advice i gess ill watch much more(".
@niayalaijah It is hard to keep telling people over and over, I start to feel embarrassed, like people will think I'm looking for sympathy if I talk about it too much. But it's better than people not knowing what's wrong with me.
Talking alone give you self confidence, that´s a fact. I see many guys and girls showing themselves to the world via youtube and that´s positive. I stutter too, a middle case like yours and yea, sometimes have difficulties to pronounce my name (Alberto). With my friends i can laugh but with other people ...well you know it´s different stuff. Im one of those who believes stuttering its just the tip of the iceberg for something deeper. Anyway, nice to meet you and wishing improvement everyday
@qarapalida Nice to meet you as well. That's what I'm hoping, by posting these videos, that I'll grow more and more comfortable with my stutter and with talking about it.
@majetn your wlcome, i was thinking, well, there´s plenty of books about treating stuttering that actually make things more confusing and i wouldn´t read more than two of them even if i had the time. Rather I would like to share a speech of a researcher that goes beyond the simple fact of blocking itself but focuses on the kind of life many stutters have been carrying ..."avoid avoidance" and stuff. hard but interesting. (link at your comment box, here i can´t) Seeya
Never let flaws get you down. I honestly think you are an amazing person. You are strong and courageous for doing this. I personally do not have stuttering problems but I used to have times where I knew what I wanted to say, but couldn't form the words. I really wish I knew of more people like you. Thank you for being such an amazing person. You are going to have a great life (: I hope that as you read this you smile!
I really am inspired by what you are doing to express yourself. I am not a stutterer myself but I do feel where you are coming from. It is truly a remarkable thing to see you get on the face cam and talk to us viewers. Again, although I'm not a stutterer, I can see how difficult it is to go through your daily life. If you ever need a friend, look no further, although we are complete strangers :P Hope to hear from you.
@HIGHonLIFE1012 Thank you so much! It's really great to hear from you and know that you understand. It's encouraging to know there are "normal people" out there who are more than willing to accept speech impediments. Again, thanks and keep watching!
you're almost like me. i cant say m's which sucks because my last name starts with an m. Same with b's, my first name starts with one. I can only order certain things when it comes to food, luckily i have next to no trouble with numbers so ill just say "number 5 combo please" I have become somewhat of a human thesaurus because of always having to find alternative words to talk normally. Also, people like us dont usually stutter when alone or with close friends. or when singing
@Negativerything Yeah totally! I've resorted to order combos before because they're easier to say. And I'm trying to stop thesaurus-ing and say what I want to. :-D
I've had blocks that I can remember since I was 10 or so (late 20s now) and I can totally relate to your videos (and @RememberThis1992's as well). I dread introducing myself to people and have found myself in the "forgot my name" scenario, as well as just using the forgot what I was about to say/lost my train of thought method while trying to overcome a block too. It's so frustrating and embarrassing.
Thanks to both of you and everyone else for posting videos regarding the topic.
@aguenter Thanks for commenting! Are you still in school? I wonder what I'm going to do in "real life" after college. I'm curious, what kind of job do you have? How does blocking affect that?
@majetn Nope, not in school...out in the "real world" and have been for some time now. I've worked many different jobs, and am currently trying to get my foot in the door to the CS field. Some days, weeks, months, and years are harder than others, but I've grown in confidence and self-worth considerably since my late teens, which has helped my speech a fair amount. I still have to use my crutch methods to communicate sometimes though. It's still tough, but I've found it gets easier with time.
@RememberThis1992 Wow! Everything is the same for me. Used to have repetitions, and eventually got myself to stop after saying the sound the first time. Now I have blocks where I would have repeated before. Saying my name is awful, because I hardly ever can and people think I'm stupid or something. And yeah, ordering food, drive-thrus, buying gas, it's all bad. And it's awkward when I block in front of my friends who didn't even know I have a problem.
@MannyPak1 I can't remember if I actually said in this video or not, but I hardly ever stutter when I'm by myself. There's a little more stress since I'm talking to the camera, but I tend to be pretty fluent. That's what makes it so frustrating, is that gets worse in certain situations. I need to figure out how to get a video of me doing it sometime. You should post videos!
I stutter to and dread interviews but I always do good after praying, Marissa you are a beautiful brave person.

as a light-medium stutterer myself there are also some sounds that i find hard to pronounce.. especially the S or the T.. i dunno why..
there's times one ends up stuttering even when excited or happy, at least for me.. weird huh =/
anyway thanks for the video, it was a pleasure to watch ^^
