you cant even compare Alexendar to Innocent, Innocent basically invented neopitism all he gave a shit about was empowering his own family, and so did all the popes before him, so when people say the Alexander 8th was the worst and most corrupt out of all of them, I say go read a fucking book, because he was no worse than any of the other popes before him
True...Alexander VI was venally no worse than most of the popes of the pre-Reformation period (and was probably shrewder than most as well), what forever marked the Borgia name was the ruthlessness of his son Cesare.
A historical series, The Borgias was set in Italy during the 15th century and told the story of Rodrigo Borgia (played by Adolfo Celi) - the future Pope Alexander VI - and his family, including his son Cesare (Oliver Cotton) and daughter Lucrezia (Anne Louise Lambert).
What was intended to be a gripping historical melodrama in the same vein as the earlier BBC series, I, Claudius, soon became an object of utter derision as the series was an outright critical failure. The BBC screened the series at the same time as ITV's lavish Brideshead Revisited with critics contrasting the high production values and stellar cast of Brideshead with The Borgias' studio bound production and frequent graphic violence and nudity.
The Sicilian-born actor Adolfo Celi is said to have had much difficulty with his lines, and his thickly-accented English was possibly the most derided aspect of the production. It is one of the few failures in the career of Mark Shivas, its producer.
I used to think that confession was an intelligence network and Saint Peters is filled with the sin of the world, I think more so after watching this :)
its showing what the true Borgias where like. dont get me wrong i like the showtime version as well but iy glrofies the borgia family not showing the true crouptsion and incest. forgive my english please i'm from italy
@hitmanlover oh yes...i completely agree with you.i am aware of the coruption and incest of that ... i was saying that this version is approaching to the real story and the things that happened then are just...horrible and hard to watch and that the 2011 version is smoother in details
@jojo24love I love you you crazy nutcase, you have no dignity or fear and don't care what history you steal or rape, no matter how absurd or deluded you sound you still persist with the zeal of a saint, in your denial of reality, you are insane with collective neurosis. You are the fruit of the evil tree of the Democrats, and when you and your kin get together you are a bunch of fruitcakes!
@javonoUTube crazy? you a self loathing fool. i never raped or stole history, the so called white man did that, cesare borgia was part of that, the renaissance period is when these people really took over, ''white washing'' history. me, fruit of evil? you want to get shakespare now. you are a clown. you are the fruitcake, you are watching the borgia's who were a bunch of faggots, and incest creeps. Are you mad, you are the real fruitcake you chump
This version of the Borgias is so much better than the current one with Jeremy Irons - I prefer this portly actor playing Rodrigo Borgia. Rodrigo is portrayed in a more benevolent light than Jeremy Irons. I watched the entire series twice when it originally appeared on PBS.
The cross you make when praying is an upside down cross! The upside down cross is a sign of lucifer, thus when you do that your prayer goes to the devil, not the almighty!
@plumpinator12 actually the upside down cross is the sign of St Peter, a upside down Crucifix however is a sacreligious act which is the sign of satin.
One Of the apostles was a traitor And tchief And Jesus knew Of it. In this way Jesus wanted to tell future generations that some of the leaders Of His Church would be dishonest, greedy And corrupted.
After all we all should be vigilant And prayerful in order not to fall into temptation.
Does anyone know where I can find this series in Spanish or at least the subtitles in Spanish or English? Please can anyone help me? I am Spanish and I don´t understand well spoken English.
@Pooternackle5 (con't) I dont support hamas and hezbollah, but there's a big difference between a group like the IRA, hamas, etc who fight for political reasons and CHILDREN BEING MOLESTED BY THE THOUSANDS and the cardinals and vatican and the pope knowing about it and letting it happen..that is a truly criminal and disgusting act they should be tried for. Think about all those innocent children scarred for life and that the church sanctioned and allowed it to happen? sickening..
@Pooternackle5 a couple? you mean a couple thousand? I'm sorry but it's one thing if there were child molesters and the church found and turned them over to the police....it's COMPLETELY different scenario when the church not only found about it but then treated the molesters as the victims and quickly transferred them to other diosces and parishes where they went on to molest more children.
@Pooternackle5 I was making a point that simply doing charity work doesnt absolve of you of greater crimes..I love for example how you ignored the much more important point I made that the catholic church's war on condoms actually helps increase hiv/aids, that they then do charity work for...something seems wrong with that. I also love how you ignore that this is an orgnaization (from the very top) that shielded and protected THOUSANDS of child molesters..no amount of charity can undo that stain
@Pooternackle5 Spare me the whole "oh but they do great charity work" Hamas and Hezbollah do charity work, does that mean we should view them in a positive light? And it's ironic the Catholic Church does so much work with HIV/AIDS patients, considering that MILLIONS would not even have this disease if the Church didn't outlaw condoms but instead focused on spreading them to prevent HIV. Also I think the thousands of children molested by priests would rather have despair than the Church
They were cold blooded men and women back then. No wonder why my Ancestors were burned at the stake these cocksuckers were pure evil.
The Knights Templar’s were killed by whores and devil worshipers from the Catholic Church. Still explains why ten year old boys still get ass raped in the Congregation. The Catholic Church is and was always a fraud. May god damn these evil freaks.
@gooddarkjedi sigh* im so thankfull to assassins creed because now alot of people know about the wonderful borgias^^(my brother owns the game and i was i big borgia fan way b4 assassins creed brotherhood)
@gooddarkjedi I was chocked when saw this on my tv yesterday. Then I asked my dad: César Borgia was pushed of a brigde in Viena in 1507 by Ezio Auditore di Firenze? (LOL)
Likewise, thanks for putting this up. I liked it, despite the critical comment. The music was wonderful and I was delighted to get it on CD recently (my tape version having been stolen in New York years ago!). Why don't the Beeb release it on DVD, it can't be that expensive to do it? I like the username - having looked it up, I don't think you can be accused of pillaging hidden treasures, for they are, indeed, hidden (or even deleted) treasures!!
