  • Never EVER a bad performance from David.

  • I love him !!!!!!!

  • Clothes loading: 60%

  • The Thin White Duke was when Bowie looked *the* coolest (for me), but The 1980 Floor Show is the gig I'd have killed to see. Thanks for this.

He looks, sounds, and moves like a divine being. We truly will not see his like again.

  • Beautiful man, absolutely beautiful.

  • oh dear me he is just gorgeous!! and who is he talking to at 0:19?

  • the most GORGEOUS FACE EVER!!! Keep smiling so we can! LOVE you David!! XOXO

  • If I was a guy I'd turn gay for him. It's actually ridiculous how attractive I find this man...

  • @clamp2005 LOL I think there's a lot of guys fell hte same. Me one of tem. :)

  • @miniorangepanther lol me too

I really looooooove david bowie he is just so perfect, that out fit rocks and I love the shocked face at 0:30 <3<3<3<3<3

  • I love the dance at 2:23.

  • I think I died when he smiles and looks sideways whilst licking his lips...Ugh, why are there no guys THIS good looking anymore?!?1 or with HALF the balls Bowie had to wear this? Or the combination! Man, he had some kind of strong character going on stage like that. Every move he makes is so elegant, he always had a very atherial air about him. His charisma is also astounding, even when stoned! god I LOVE this man!

  • this is seriously the silliest outfit ever (the one with the keyhole)

    but I FREAKIN LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that version is the bomb

  • so bowie........

  • When he licked his lips at 0.41 I died and went to heaven :D

  • @Daphne8019

    My condoleances.

  • @Daphne8019 wtf

  • @seekah1 I am an atheist using metaphorical terminology and from your channel content I hazard a guess that you may have taken it literally? I believe in the power of Bowie's major organs and you can attribute their creation and power upon on whomsoever you wish!

  • @Daphne8019

OMG and the little head toss he does while he licks his lips! I died too!!!

  • i want my hair like bowie's

    great performance =]

  • just thought i should let u guys know this concert is now on dvd from germany available on ebay... so happy! waiting for a copy now thats in the mail! :D

  • I thought this video was Bowie at his best. The Ziggy Stardust segment of his career, I feel was the most entertaining and had the best songs. I remember seeing this video over 30 years ago and never seen it anywhere until now. As one other commenter said, it is too bad it wasn't made into a cassette/dvd. This video is really attention getting along with great music. Anybody responding negatively doesn't appreciate for the entertainment value and has a closed mind that needs opened up.

  • Super Mullet!! Love it!

  • Damn this guy is so charismatic, even standing still!! An icon and a legendary artist for a reason.

  • wow cool u look like marilyn manson but u were lucky make up frist ! after that marilyn manson make up all the times !

  • I saw this when it first aired on TV, sitting in the basement of my parents house in Hammond, Ind. It blew me away then - and it still does! Bowie was really at his peak - never better!!!

  • david bowie is a real legend

  • youve always been gay sonny boy..now back to your Mother's basement and pull it...you punx just make us piss laffing ,even after 30 years...Thanks for the larfs!

    Gemma

  • He really GETS into his music .. Unlike pop music people today .. I love you Bowie!

  • Comment removed

  • great great artist!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I watch this video the most of david bowie, they should really release this floor show on dvd!!!!

  • Wondering where original drummer, Woody Woodmansey was? Trevor and Ronno are here, but not Woody. That's Aynsley Dunbar on drums (looking quite a bit like Marc Bolan) !!

  • FWIW, I am a LADY who is a fan of The Gentleman and thinks he's got the face and voice of an angel -- and love the attire/appearance -- the sparkles AND the keyhole and the kiddie-fruit-drink-red hair. And he's got the bare-torso thing going! Go, Bowie!

  • Bowie was my 1st Concert 1974or 75

    I was 15...LoVe him Forever!

  • <3 OMG david i <3 u

  • 2:20 YES!! haha

what a voice! a wonderful man!

  • im so happy i found this vid ive been dying to see his keyhole outfit! weeee!

  • i love how easily and suddenly he gets into character at 0:43 . his face, everything totally changes. i especially love the emotions in his face when they return to 1984 at the end. Hell, I love everything about him, throughout the whole piece. Can't get enough of him. : D

  • Oh wow. David Bowie is the original "Frank 'n Furter". He should get credit for that....and a lot of things.

  • @erinmerle I am so glad you said that as i see a awful lot of Frank n Furter in David Bowie and nobody agrees with me !!!!!!!!

  • The only God I've ever had!

  • oh david :) lol

  • Very nice video thanks for posting! pretty dress, pretty song, wonderful voice. BOWIE!!!!!

  • Totally clasiic!!!!!

  • killer stuff

  • Bowie rocks! Who cares if he's gay? No wonder he has style.

  • he's not ;-P he's bisexual

  • I'm pretty sure he wasn't gay, he was just coked up. Considering he's married and all now

  • He is bisexual. He aid that in a bunch of interviews.

  • yes, bi and gay are not the same though

  • I was lucky enough to see this when it aired on the Midnight Special back in '73. Thank you so much for posting these outtakes. I've never seen them till today. It was the most awesome show ever to be presented on the Midnight Special. Bowie & Ronson RULE

  • i think diamond dogs would have been a stronger album had mick ronson played on it

  • No Gemma, George Orwell's widow would not allow David to title the show..The 1984 Show.

Thus he had to re-title it ...the 1980 Floor Show..play on words, obviously.

    Dr.J.Jaeger

    Toronto

    Luv on ya baby...phone me.

  • 1980?

  • Looks weird seeing Ronno playing a Diamond Dogs song. Nice though

  • This is so cool, can you get it on DVD anywhere?

  • my god, gorgeous.

  • on my effing god LOOK AT THAT OUTFIT change!!! HOOOOT sob

  • Diamond Dogs !!!!

    thanks for posting thiss

  • Gemma ,Mrs. Orwell was going to block the title ' The 1984 Floor Show'...thus The 1980 Floor Show...simple.

The 'keyhole' design was a takeoff of the Dutch director Kristan Tzara's movie unfortunately I cannot recall it, but thats where David grabbed the idea from sweetie...

    Luv on Ya!

    Jeff

  • Beware the savage jaw,

we recall this the week night it aired...waht a night...then we saw him twice in one day with the Diamond Dogs Tour of early to mid 1974...Thanx for this, whoever you are...

    Dr.J.J.

    Toronto,Canada.

Our 2 Diamond Dogs shows in one day...Only in beautiful, underated Toronto,Canada...Sorry you kidz missed David there....'Didn't hear it from me....yeah...',unquote...1980 Floor Show.

  • I love this man.

  • I love the outfit :D

  • BOWIE is the love of my life. fantasic xD

  • Awesome concert, should show on television more.

  • the keyhole is from a Tristan Tzara play that Dave enjoyed as a youngster..watch it,rent it,whatever...learn about this talent before he is gone forever...

  • Try this headphones or nice speakers.. TY

  • XD

    my my

    that outfit...

  • This is much funkier version than the later album version! It's great.

  • Simply fabulous!! He looks as gorgeous as ever, beautiful.

  • I love Bowie

  • Always my Fave version of 1984, had it on the bootleg as a kid. and I remember seeing it on in concert back then as well.

  • this is very cool. Thanks for posting!

  • i love the way he says dodo. his accent is sooo hot!!

i am soooo in love with him!

if i were around then i would have found a way to get to him!!

    MMMMMM........yummy!!!!

    =P

  • Just love David, he's not perfect but who of us are. He's brought me so much happinees in my life with his music !

  • Bowie looks cool with red hair

  • RONSON.

  • One word: Impeccable!

  • Maschio anche cosi' !!!! strepitoso !!!!

  • Killer outfit! wow

  • Emperor !!

  • Speaking as a straight woman I could care less with whom hes been sexual with I would so go anywhere he wanted me to lol

  • He is so hot

  • check out the mistake the saxes make at the recap. in the final performance they do it again only its not as loud so you cant really hear it.

  • Jenna, what Dave ordered was the entire Marque Club's walls be painted black to give the ABC,Midnight Special, from this club ,in London, depth.

Bowie said it falied miserably,as you can kind of tell from even the lousy Youtube reception...but ,alas...they went ahead, obviously and this was the absolute LAST time Dave would be in the guise of Ziggy.

He went overseas with the Diamond Dogs Tour a few months later.

  • I wish i could have been there!!!!

  • Holy shit! I love this video, it's great.

Also: wicked rad costumes. I'd wear it. ^_^

  • that isn't even fair how sexy he is AND how freaking talented he is, if I was a man I would go gay for him, but as it is I am all for him anyway!

  • Marry me David!

  • really good. I would argue that these were some of his prime years...but he has been good all through his career!!

  • No matter wether your a guy or a girl everybody wants to get in his pants!

  • That's for sure.

  • For 6 minutes and 12 seconds I became gay for David Bowie

  • your not the only one buddy ;]

  • lol

  • @AdamShanklyUK LOL. He is one of the few famous that I would love to share a bottle of something with and talk the night away.

  • @AdamShanklyUK Me too, I became a gay guy I mean. But really II saw this when it came on tv in 73- was never the same.

  • yeah! Straight men go gay for david. :) can you blame them? It's out of their hands. David s to sexy for his own good, and that sexy voice doesn't help you get less fame, david. damn you for being so hot! And damn you for being the first thing I think about when I wake up, and the last thing I think about when I go to sleep. But I still love you! :DD

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!

  • Davis is an hero ,i think he did help a lot of bisex or gay guys to eccepts his sexuality, people began understand that stop hiding his way to be means to be brave, means to be really free, and in a country like mine, where the "holy pope" live, this was so important.i completely agree U!!

  • was it you who replied? i agree, David is beautiful. Ive never seen this outfit... actually said "WoooooW!!" heheh Dave's mah idol <333

  • Simply fabulous!! He looks as gorgeous as ever, beautiful. Sexy. I'd love to eat him.... er I mean meet him!! : D

  • You were right first time lol

  • hahahahaha! he is absolutely delicious! : D

  • Oh, baby! How I wish I was there.... Love David!!!

  • now I see where marilyn manson (circa 1997) got his inspiration

  • What the fuck is that thing with the sort-of pink keyhole he's wearing? :D

  • you're supposed to be a Bowie fan and all you do is say nasty negative cimments about him? A real Bowie fan doesn't do that.

  • Totally agree! Last month this guy entered my channel page and left amsg saying: "You must be a woman to like David Bowie like that!" What's that supposed to mean???!!! (C'mon!)

  • to margotandmilla (just so no-one thinks I'm calling bowie the following!! Cos I'm NOT!)WTF!!? what a moron!! all ages and both sex's love Bowie!! I have people assuming I'm a guy and calling me a faggot for liking David!?? So now I have on my page FEMALE!!! but what would it matter if I was a man and fancied him?! whole lotta love and peace : D

  • (to pagey29)Well, that's the point! People like that just dont get it! Admiring Bowie's work has nothing to do with being male or female... Stupid thought! His work is just BEYOND that: It's Art!

    See ya, friend :-)

  • yes, totally true. You don't just "go" gay!anyway he was never actually gay, he just experimented a couple times, he always preferred women.... he even said years later that he was never actually gay. OMG I gotta watch this again to answer you! I'm about to self combust! is it hot in here?! :)

  • It never really mattered to me all that much, all I knew as a kid was there was something to his music that I really identified with. I think it was the alienation that he writes about all the time. But, David saying he was bi probably saved my life. He was the first role model I had. It really meant a lot. All you had then were the stereotypes on TV and here was someone who said he was and really mattered. Thanks David!

  • chill, lol. Just people fooling around, saying there appreciation for Bowie in a sillier way.

  • has anyone noticed how Bowie's ziggy mullet has been the ONLY successful mullet ever? my friends, only Bowie could pull off a mullet without looking like a fool.

  • Yes unfortunately you may be right, but I bet HELLA fans would grab this if it was for sale on DVD! Bowie is so rich though he doesn't need the money. At least "The Best of Bowie" DVD has some classic Ziggy era performances!

  • retrogrrrl, I bet the DVD's of this would sell like hot cakes right! ^_^ HE'S SO AWESOME, HE'S A LIVING GOD!

  • I just read that Bowie wants to release it on DVD but CBS or whoever owns the rights wants an ungodly amount of money from the Bowie camp.

  • but doesn't Bowie have an ungodly amount of money himself, enough to pay for it?

Still though, it's HIS work and he owns all the rights to all his songs (every single one!) so it's asinine for CBS to deny him the rights to it.

  • i have a vhs copy

  • When the hell are they going to release this on DVD!? I would LOVE to have this entire show, outtakes & all!

  • no one before, no one since, musically imortal, there is only one david bowie!

  • Well said, you have encapsulted what many are feeling.

  • Ah, look at the smugness in his face... But he can get away with it!

  • 00:45 David Has a realy cute look on his face! :D

  • Come sempre, .... Bravo !!!! Spettacolare

  • I love the version at the tower 2

  • i loved 1984 the first minute i heard it on the diamond dogs album. and i love this version even more

  • damn... this is actually the first time ive heard Dodo! XD WTF, its because its not on the Diamond Dogs album. i feel like such an ass.

at least now i know that i love it.

(and i just love how they tear that costume off his body!!!!)

  • yeah, that pursed lip is beatiful, really. I wish I could be him.

  • This thing real is tough sounding. That sax and guitar are so wack. I think Bowie is smokin, and that whole show was awesome. Even Carmen was ok, though the Stooges would have been a better group to have for the special.

  • I love how he purses his lips when he concentrats! ^^

  • Dave is 5'%' approx. when I was backstage at Station to Station, I was like, 4 ft, away from th Duke, and I am only 5'9"...

  • i saw him at station to station too, it was the most exciting thing I have experienced but I was not backstage- I was right at the front just in front of him during the concert however. It was utterly amazing. I also saw his diamonddogs/youngamericans tour

  • DID'NT HEAR IT FROM MEEEE...YEH....

  • That is a badass suit he wears. I lovwe how the guys just rip it off, awsome.

  • THE 'KEYHOLE DISGN', dAVID SWIPED FRON tRISTAN tSARA'S vOLTAIRE MOVEMENT PLAY, ENTITLED 'lA COUER DE GAZ'....OR, IN ENGLISH...THE GAS HEART.

  • Cool information.

  • tristan tzara was one of the first dadaists btw, which came out of the ennui after ww1 in which many suffered much loss and pain. one of the elements of dada is to shock. i think is is very helpful in todays society, which is so apathetic and dull. I saw this concert on tv when I as 13 and it blew my mind in a good way and i have never been the same since, and still love bowie and nomi who are the only dadaists around back in the 70's as far as i know

  • Not that I think he is making a fool out of himself of course, but whatever he does, he's getting away with it.

  • I LOVE this combo...1984 and Dodo are both good songs, but they are SO much better combined.

  • Actually, on second thought, I like this version of Dodo better. 1984 kicks ass no matter how you cut it, but the other version is better.

  • I feel so priviledged to b watching this!!

  • seamusxx12-you are exactly correct on that....

  • saw it on the Midnight Special and yes , although Dodo was already recorded,it was 'in the can', only....I'm also glad we have it now forever....D.Dogs,which I went to in '74 as a 15 yr.old was loosley based on the whole 1984 experience...but you knoe that...best!

  • omg he sounds just like me at the start! when he speaks before singing!

  • Does he?? :O I love his voice :)

  • i love this song and if george orwell's wife would of let bowie come out with the 1984 play which is what he wanted to do it would of been excellent , but since he wasnt aloud he ended up puting all the songs he had written for the play together to form the diamond dogs album.

  • Not all the songs went into DIamond Dogs, unforunately for me. After I saw this show, I went out and bought every Bowie album, just to get the song DoDo. About 20 years later I finally got it as part of a 4 CD set (along with the story as to why it was never before released. It was well worth the money and the wait, however -- there's just some specia, 1984 quality about this partially finished song by one of the greatest musical artists of our time!!!

  • No other star comes close to bowie or ever will.

  • i totally agree people will try but just make fools of themselves :P

  • Bowie's own words are "The reason why I come up with something quite good is because I dear to make a complete foolout of myself from time to time"

Not his exact words, but you get the point.

  • get it onnn Bowie!

Love how he's gettin into the music.

O he just HAD to strip XDDD Go Bowie Go!

Yes. I agree. Glamour at its best.

  • I never tried to read into David's words, he may change his mind next week as regards what they meant. His words imo were just another audio instrument !!

  • Just watching it again....thanks.

  • He looks flawless, with porcelain skin, glamorous eye makeup, and delicately highlighted cheekbones. To me, he is the definition of glamour.

  • The only other intelligent indidiual that used the word, adjective 'porcelain', in ref. to David's skin...way to go pal!JEFF in T.O.

  • The keyhole design is a takeoff on Tristan Tzara's movie 'La Couer de Gaz', the Gas Heart....one of David's faves....Jeff

  • I love this man!!!

Thanks a lot for the vid!

  • I wonder what "fell off" in the beginning. hehe

  • An ear ring i think.

  • "Another memo to screw" First time we have heard that line in the F.S. video.

  • you're right ! I always believed that was due to the poor quality of the video that was around so far, i never tought it had been erased for censorship

  • Yes it's a bit like "Falls swanking to the floor" in "Time" in the Floor Show.

    What is sawnking ?? LOL

Interesting 2 note in the (final cut) take of "Time" in the broadcast version of F.S. notice "We should be on by now" Bowie misses his cue in lip syn, he's playing with his fingers, but not in the outtake version.

  • He had to swanking, as he could not say 'wanking', ABC,the early '70s, you can figure the rest, you must be old enough.....Great vid...anyone who want a copy, I've got one!Jeff

  • Excellent. :-)

  • anyone think dodo was a message to defries?

  • Mmmmmm A bit like 'Fame' maybe ?.
