holy shit i remember seeing these vid's back when they came out... now you're making insane fucking remixes for established artists... i take that back, now YOUR an established artist! fucking sick!
needs some texture. or...variety? idk how to say it. change up the beat, and some build ups and beat drops. The beat is so redundant and so it the melody. you've got a good base, now build on that.
Hey, I got a quick question. You've made remixes. Did you have to send them by mail to the A&R quarter of the label which owns the rights to the music to be able to sell it on itunes and other only sellers?
i have reason i dont use it at all i still use mpc kurzweil k2000, and a bunch of other synths and verbs i think there is definatly a diffrent sound with fl and reason
never used Ableton Live, and i dont know much about it. can you use plugin synths etc. ? i just got the novation bass plugin for cubase. sounds like the real thing. think im gona spend some good money on a 8 in out sound card and start using a desk agean. miss the hands on gear. my music will probably still sound shit lol
funny how a few people i know struggle to get a good original sound out of the subtractor without having to use the combinator. but they have no problem making a sound with my super nova or jv1080 etc. reason is good but it still has a long way to go before it becomes a main stream studio tool
yes your right, and also, a lot of big producers dont use reason. name 1 big producer that has dumped all his studio gear and only uses reason? and i dont mean just using reason for 1 track on an album or just using it for drum patterns
all i can say to reason die hard, loyal to the death fans is, if you use reason only, your music will have that stale reason sound. crappy reverb and crappy synth sounds. combinator is ok but you have to mess around with a 1000 synths to make 1 good sound
Could you have a listen to some of my most recent tracks mate and let me know if they sound like Reason 1,000 from miles off? I'd be gutted if they did. Cheers.
nice track mate, put together well, think it could do with some vocals. im sorry to say it mate, you can tell its done with reason. its not the artists fault, its the reason program. you can even spot radio advert jingles made with RE. think its the synths and reverb/ delay effects etc. still a good program but im gona start using cubase n hardware again, i will always find a use for redrum. been playing my old tracks and they sound better than my RE tunes
oops sorry mate. commented on wrong track? im impressed, did you use reason record too? if its done with reason, i take back what i said, i been messing with sound moduals and synths since the 80's i even built a basic analoge mono synth when i was 16, but i now struggle to make an original synth string with reason, unless i spend hours doing so. and im also starting to hate the reverbs, seem to spend hours messing with the synths rather than making tunes. good track :)
Dj Khalil uses reason as a main production tool. And he produce beats for 50 cent, akon etc.. And his beats sound amazing. Hes one of the best an Aftermath staff producer. Reason rules man! Check "still kill" from 50 cent. Its a killa beat produced in reason.
if you have read some of my old comments, i said reason is great for drum programing. i love the redrum, i use it for nearly all my drum programing. in some ways its better than using a real tr 808, 909. i just think reason mixer and subtractor, malstrom, and the small red reverb delay effects are shit. i even find a use for the nxtt. think im going back to cubase, plugins and hardware, and ill rewire the redrum
you done some good stuff and you obviously know reason inside out, but im sorry to say mate that some of your tunes do have that reason sound, i cant put my finger on it, might be the reverbs or the synths? what i dont like about reason is that if you want to make a good sound, or copy another synth, you have to combine loads of stuff, the subtractor is good for bass but shit for strings as a stand alone synth. its a good program to use with others but not as a stand alone tool
thinking about it, its def the reverbs and some presets that gives reason its distinct sound that im bored of hearing. if you listen closely, you can spot radio adverts songs etc that has used reason, the phaser sound stands out a mile, its not just me, loads of people i know who use reason are saying the same things. gona rewire to cubase and ditch all the reason affects. and just use reason for bass and drums. shame they never added the RB 303 to RE4 would have been worth buying
im so bored with the reason programe, it just seems to kill any idea's i have. starting to dig out my hardware. wish i never sold my mixer and juno. think its the synth sounds. you can spot a reason track a mile off. or a track on radio that has had some reason input
i make my own sounds, but the reason synths are shit. like i said, you can spot a reason track a 1000 miles off, going back to cubase and hardware. and using reason ONLY for the redrum
I'm not hating at all, but this isn't even close to the Grum remix. The bass in this track would be cool to learn too. I think it would be really hard to emulate the 80s retro sound in reason and I would go with a older analog synth like a prophet 5 etc.
This would def not be the sounds I was looking for the future synth tutorials for 80s sounds no offense. If you want some of those artists tracks hit me up;)
what are you talking about i use both reason and fl so dont chat bias stupidity for things like sample based music fl is champ but when it comes to dance music and general mastering speed i love reason. All software has its uses
I wanted to reply about dubbymacky's claim, that Reason's sound engine is week! It's been years sence I used FL and from what I remember, it did'nt apeal to me! But I did notice Reason is slightly off when it comes to sound quilty! But that could be because I was spoiled with hardware for many year! Regardless Reason is amazing, and I am thrilled to have a regestered version of 4.0! And if you use samples and make your own patches, you can get much more from the software! Get Record aswell!!!
i am a long time fan of reason its just everything sounds grand except the kick drum and bass just doesant sound pro to me at least with fl studio you can get vst plug ins and all that
that's only half true. The reason factory sound bank doesn't have good metal samples but torrent some refills man, or sample yourself or something. I've made some brutal ass shit with reason. Brutal.
Thanks again! Great song. Any guesses as to what Anoorak and those Valerie bands are using?
I love their analog sounds and am doing my best to engineer myself away from the trancey Reason presets, so any tutorials on synths/or tips on refills is much appreciated.
lol sorry... but honestly, it's OBVIOUS. I've been messing with Reason on/off since ver 1, and over time, I noticed that my stuff just sounded better once I PRETTY MUCH ditched presets. I use SOME for a jumping off point, AND I do make my OWN presets, but yeah. Look to Aphex for inspiration.
if you watch my other videos you can see that I no longer use presets and create my own sounds 100% from scratch. (my second refill is coming out next week) this was one of the first songs I ever created which is why I was using presets.
@luckydatevideos hey if u make a hit, fuck if u use presets or not, just as long as its ur sound and true to what ur tryna convey then the critics can yappity yap yap. good shit on the tutorial vids homie. pz
i wanna get a free download of reason 4 :)

actually they don't. big producers use logic, cubase, protools and/or hardware.
