Watched this in my animation class the other day and it creeped me out so so so much. Everyone was laughing and I honestly had no idea what I was watching.
@sqccccccccc It's only after Hillsborough that people had seats. People would get killed.
It also picks fun at a system on the point to explode with bottled up violence. With the ending bum scene it feels like some sort of Freudian "distraction".
The players all look the same, they kind of just accept the death, only the last couple do anything about it by fighting back, perhaps this is a symbolism of best for last?
I think it's just supposed to be absurd violence to show how stupid and obscene it all is, but connecting it with everyday household objects connects football violence with violence at home.
the players do not fight back, they let themselves be slaughtered, it looks like they are waiting for the opponents to show them their imaginativness in killing.
People watch sports for the violence not the game itself. The violence is sold to the audience (cookies). The violence isn't limited to the stadium, but seeps into the outside world.
It's true. Football games are steeped in xenophobia and violent brutish thuggism. You'd think these sports would bring people together but the rivalries spark up tribalistic bullshit. It even happens here in the united states - check out the recent L.A. Lakers riots. It's too disgusting for words. People rioting over 7 figure salary mercenaries run by bloated plutocratic owners. It can't get more stupid and pointless. Welcome to human history.
The music?

To understand why this is so violent you have to remember it was made before the Hillsborough incident.

I think it's in the nature of men (like any other animal) the need for competition, thats why we like sports so much
