I have been tracking RSE sounds and "sprucing them up" with a wav editor track by track... especially the sounds unavailable in RSE (see my YT vlog) but from what I've seen so far, I think GP6 is going to work as a stand alone software that wont require any sprucing... just lay your vocal tracks and viola! It's done. I cant wait!
Hi, I am a guitar teacher and in my opinion it's a pity that you focus so much on sound. Layout is much more important. First of it will use a lot of processing power which means that schools (who would be a good primal purchaser of such a program) are deprived of it because many can't afford more powerful computers. Cheers, Pat
guitar pro 6 doesn't focus only on sound, the main focus keeps the layout. Many improvements have been done : better rendering quality, voicing, much more notation elements, easier editing...
The next videos should show some of them.
About the processing power, gp6 doesn't require an high end computer.
I knew that. The thing is that I think this is a bit the wrong focus, too much on sound details. They left away too many improvements form v4 to v5. I still like the software, but I won't by it for merely some new sound effects. What's really was great in v4 is that you were able to define distances between staves. Great would also be beat alignement and horizontal chord grids. I made this suggestion prior to v5s release, but it was discarded unfortunately.
If you knew that you could turn off RSE, why did you complain about processing power? Also, just because the sound gets a lot of attention from the devs, doesn't mean it's what the focus is on and it doesn't mean they leave out the rest. You can't pretend to know what they're focusing on because as someone who doesn't work for Guitar Pro, you have no idea.
In my oppinion, the end goal is to be able to play with the original version of a song, hence I will hear the original sounds in the end anyway. But I admit some motivation factor in being able to hear better sounds.
The reason i'm using guitar pro is to compose songs. As I can only record my voice and my guitars, I like to have great drums/bass/keyboard/strings sounds in GP. That allows me to record my creations and make them sound natural.
(And the realistic sounding guitars are also a good way to know what sound fits the best in a song, and the settings/effects/EQ to use)
I agree, that's why I also like Band in a Box or Ableton Live. They are all great tools. The thing I am having trouble with is, that I am asking for some improvements on the graphical side. Sure, GP has a great way for entering notes. I like Finale for it's layout possibilities like having beats aligned across the page in a vertical way. Almost like monotype characters in printing, i.e. used in Notepad. What I have trouble with the most, is that I feel like talking to amateur copyists, sorry...
As for your suggestions; "horizontal chord grids" already exist, they're called chord diagrams and you can even display them on your tab given the proper settings. And I'm not sure what you mean by "beat alignment" (it could be simply displaying the page in multitrack view), but it sounds like something that's already there and you haven't noticed it or something irrelevant.
Thanks for the compliment that my demands are irrelevant. I am sorry, but this tone is a bit new to me. Looks like I am incompetent to demand such silly things. I don't know about you, but since I make a living teaching music since being 16 years old and having used notation software since 1988, perhaps I could claim to have a little bit of a clue of what is being talked about.
enzmusic, from what i have read you are coming across as a child yourself. i mean no disrespect but you honestly sound like your having a childish hissyfit over people not understanding that "you know music".....i say that its not that they don't understand....its that they don't care. simple as that. everyone has their own wishlist for GP6. get over the fact that other people don't like your ideas. move on, become an evolved human being. shut up and calm down. :)
Don't worry, this is just a small transitional video to announce a work in progress. There is so many improvements on RSE, for guitars and many other instruments too, and many improvement on the whole application. More videos will follow, and you'll see it by yourself ;-)

i hope you guys find a way to work with vst's like Toontrack..
so people could use this more often as a learning tool for drums because the guitar stuff is all ready their....
like a guitar hero game type set up that reads your midi as you play along and let's you know how and when you F$%^k up. @ THE END...
i love guitar pro but i do find myself using Music DNA allot more..
hey why don't you guys incorporate that a single helix that has all the octaves etc..
beats tabs and music staff
