I spool up and fly in Idle-Up Mode, on both scale and 3D helicopters.

I use normal mode for landing only.

That is the proper way to fly helicopters.

If your ESC does not support Soft Start, then you should spool up in Normal Mode and then switch to Idle-Up after take-off.

This is 450 class helicopter, Copter-X mechanics, HeliArtist Fuselage and Spektrum radio. You can build this Helicopter for around $500 to $1100, depending on the the components that you choose.

This is not a beginners helicopter! A beginner will need to invest 3 to 6 months computer simulator time before flying a real RC model of this class.

The E-Flite Blade CX2 is a good beginner helicopter.

On this helicopter, the throttle is a flat curve 100% throttle.
