@jackel2116 that's a great question. I have heard rumblings about the failure of Aryan theories based on DNA — but sanskrit is so clearly an Indo-European language, we have some serious cognitive disconnect here. Indian commentators tell me this is wrong, Western grad students tell me this is great... Somewhere there's truth. Maybe not here. :-)
Wait a second. Aryan invasion theory was discredited? I just graduated college and was taught that theory as part of a Hinduism class taught by a multiple doctoral teacher in the subject. Was I really lied to point blank?
@Jackel2116 ofcourse u were, i can not beileve western countries would give such false info and not update their books, europeans do not have anything superior than eastern culture from ancient world , so they have lied, thank god to DNA, who can not lie. I have learned sanskrit, very similar to national language hindi.
hinduism is way of life, not religion, right name is sanatan dharma (eternal law). Do not worry i took religious class in my college here in canada, and they still teach some wrong stuffs about hinduism and india. Talk to ur professor, he might be able to give right info if he is keeping up and not living in 1950.
also, you have misrepresented info about caste system....pls if you want to learn about hinduism, see interview of DR.subramania swamy on hinduism or read complete works of swami vivekananda .
@MsTruthforce I'm not surprised that the caste system is misrepresented in this video. It's based on a limited information set and a limited explanation made available to my students and me. This version is still better than what I learned 20 years ago in school. I'm no longer teaching this class, so I am unlikely to correct the video or do the research, but I voted up your comment to show that I appreciate your addition to the story.
Aryan invasion theory has been discarded, b/c DNA result do not support it. Theory was invented by british to divide indian indepence movement. Rama and krishna, both were born in India, both talk about verna (caste system), how could they be aryan then? There is no mention of word aryan anywhere in vedic scripture. Yoga comes from yogasutras (purans scripture-part of Hinduism). I do not understand, why are u spreading such false information? Please do your research.
@MsTruthforce Thanks for pointing out that Aryan invasion theory is discredited. American schoolchildren's textbooks often hold information that is as much as 30 years behind. Any "new" scholarly opinion takes time to work its way into Midwestern universities that write textbooks. Then California and Texas must concur that the 'new' history is acceptable to teach to students there.
I am a sixth grade (12-years-old) history teacher, so it is hard for me to deviate much from the text I teach.
