Monkeys are cute and cuddly as babies but I don't know if I would want to own one. I hate to say that considering since they are a cousin to humans but very distantly.
They need a lot of care and attention. This capuchin seems like he's happy and etc. I think it looks fine but yeah, a bigger cage might be necessary. But who knows? Maybe at this early time in having him that's all they had for the time being. I don't know.
awwwwww tht is soo adorible and yall needa quit hatein on him the monkey is happy look at the other videos idiots if u look u will see hes jus fine where he is if they released him back to the wild he wouldnt know what to do dumb asses! U GO BOO THE MONKEY lol sooo cute
That cage is rubbish, and what are you going to to do when he hits sexual maturity and turns on you? Hes cute now, and from what I've seen partially potty trained, what are you going to do when he starts playing with his poop, peeing on everything, tearing up your house, biting you, breaking things, when he starts having mental issues due to lack of proper primate socialization. You made a 20-40 year commitment to a perpetual brat...I'll feel bad when you are forced to put him in a rescue.
Well he is going crazy in his cage because he is a bloody monkey and monkeys were not put on this earth to be locked in cages in homes. Their natural habitat is in jungles and forests with other primates they can interact with and not be made to look stupid or answer to dumb humans. Here's an idea, give him a HUGE area to climb and play in with lots of ferns, branches and toys, or else release him back to the wild!
@smithhayleyerin You CAN'T RELEASE HIM BACK TO THE WILD, thats terrible advice. He was raised in captivity. If you released him he would die. The best his future holds is that he will be given to a rescue that will do their best to give him as natural a life as possible. You NEVER release a captive bred animal to the wild unless you have the resources to rehabilitate him and you know he will not be the victim of poachers.
seems like he wants to get out. he must get bored to death in there, im sure hes smart enough to get some sense of frustration hes trapped in there and youre not, calling his name out repeatedly.
I wonder why this animal is jumping around and "going crazy" in this tiny dog kennel? Maybe because in the wild they have hundreds of acres to roam free, as well as other nonhuman primate companions! The pet trade is killing of primate species, and is causing detrimental health issues like disease and neurosis. The ownership of nonhuman primates as pets is immoral and irresponsible. If you love nonhuman primates donate to organizations or learn more about them and DO NOT support the pet trade..
@allmonkeysarewild what about other animals? dogs, birds, hamsters, ferrets, cats, lizards, bunnies? People still keep them as pets. And what about food people eat cows and pigs and chickens.
@OwrKeeng ...Well then, you clearly don't know anything at all about monkeys. The monkey is panicking and displaying severely abnormal behavior. The guy doen't even seem to realize that he's torturing the poor thing. He's a wild animal, not a toy. When he approaches adulthood he's almost guaranteed to attack and monkeys like this can do some very serious damage. What will the people do then? Euthanise the monkey? Stick him in this cage to live out the rest of his 30 or 40 years? Drug him?
@OwrKeeng If you look into it you will find that it is true. Monkeys are taken from their mothers as infants, far before weaning age, in order to be sold as pets. This is KNOWN to hinder proper brain development. They're hard-wired to be part of a complex social group. Without this they suffer and in effect go crazy. They start doing repetetive behaviors like rocking back and forth, pacing, spinning - it's exactly what you see in humans who have gone through unbearable experiences.
@OwrKeeng - Monkeys can and do severely attack - they're wild animals! They never have been domesticated and so you can't use the same criteria to judge whether they're "well cared for" as you can with a cat or dog. Monkeys just don't belong in people's homes - especially not with people who taunt them like this guy's doing! Because people are generally unfamiliar with thier behavior, they often don't even notice how damaged their monkeys have become.
@OwrKeeng As I said, you clearly don't know a thing about monkeys. Because an ignorant person without the ability to empathise with another living creature just decides that the monkey seems "fine", it doesn't make it so. The monkey is clearly distressed and probably has a long, horrible life ahead. If you are really, actually interested you can do some research and see that a monkey in a cage is in no way better off than a monkey living wild as it was born to do. But I doubt you really care.
@McFrealy I've looked at the other videos and see absolutely nothing that tells me that Boo is "super happy". If you will read my previous comments you'll see why Boo will never be OK as long as he's kept as someone's pet in their home. It's barbaric and cruel. Poor monkey!
@McFrealy - Really my own thoughts, based on many years of experience rehabilitating ex-pet monkeys and studying them in the wild. This is not a good situation for the monkey, and the monkey is NOT acting "normal" or "happy". And, unless the owners drug the monkey or remove his teeth or something along those lines, he will eventually attack and he will probably spend the rest of his long life in a cage on his own. It happens over and over again - people too selfish to listen to the facts.
@robotronfilms If you watch monkeys in the wild they are not in cages, they have miles of rainforest and they spend all day travelling foraging and socialising in a normal monkey fashion. This monkey is clearly psychologically damaged and living in "half a room" is not going to help that. Poor thing has decades of suffering ahead of him.
@allmonkeysarewild yeah i agree and thats why i dont get pets becuase i had a cat and i let it go because i felt that it didnt want to be traped inside it was always lookinng outside but good point i totally agree
@tyonthafly how did you train boo not to "go to the bathroom" on the floor? every othere vid Ive seen with capuchins as pets they put diapers on them...
@MrOsorum - capuchins are NOT domesticated animals. Domestication is a measurable process that takes place over generations of selective breeding, and this has not ever happened with any species of primate. All primates have a basic need to live in a social group with others of their own kind and what is shown in this video certainly, clearly, is abuse. The monkey is clearly already psychologically damaged. Whoever is keeping him has GOT to learn something about primates and their needs.
@allmonkeysarewild lol watch the other videos please. this family loves this monkey and lets him run around outside all the time. he only is in the cage for a limited amount of time per day while the family is at school/work.
@ryanw00dddddddd - What this family appears to "love" is the novelty of spending time with a really interesting and amazing creature - but if they had any real love for Boo they would make his needs top priority - they would not have allowed him to be pulled off of his mother in order to be a pet - they would send him someplace where he can live with other capuchin monkeys and have something approaching a normal life - they would recognize that he's a wild, not domesticated animal.
@allmonkeysarewild Well said! These people don't really care about this monkey...It's just something fun to have around the house (until it reaches puberty)
@allmonkeysarewild - I have to agree with this... If anyone with half a heart has seen these babies snatched away from their mothers they'd agree with you also. It's so incredibly heart breaking for both the baby and mother. I'm sure they take care of Boo and care about him but that doesn't change the fact that he was torn from his mother's arms so that someone else could pretend to be his mother instead.
wow people stop complaining about the cage! If you take the time to look at his other videos then you see Boo it always out having a good time! He is barley ever in the cage!
I had the weird experience of having a capuchin dumped on me for a 2 hour monkey-sitting stint. The furry gal groomed my arm hair the entire time, which hurt like crazy after just 5 minutes! Fun animals, though!
as a fellow person who lives with a capuchin....you really need a much bigger cage, and some ropes, and you have to buy him new toys every month. They really seem to like the cat houses. They can die if they are not enriched enough or become severely depressed from boredom, which leads to death.
Aww...

He isn't going crazy, he is agitated and anxious. The space is too small.
That's the behaviour you see when monkey's are kept in cages for animal testing.
You need to get a way taller cage, ceiling size. Or just keep him out at all times.
