The AT specification allows power consumption up to 25W. Avaya Energy Saver (AES ) was compared to Cisco EnergyWise in the independently verified report. Testing confirmed AES lowered power an additional 9% when the dimming feature is activated while EnergyWise only option is termination of service.
This series compares to Avaya’s 1600 series which has considerably more line and navigation keys. At Avaya, our customers want 10/100 choice with low power consumption and understand IP Phones use 80% of the power in a VoIP network. Cisco’s 8900/9900 have no 10/100 options and are designed to support 802.3at.
That is very kind of you to recognize that energy efficiency interests consumers. The energy, dollars and CO2 savings of Avaya's 9600 IP Phones vs Cisco 7900 is similar to what CFL light bulbs are to incandescent. We tested the Cisco 7900 series as it most closely matches the features of our 9600 series. Consumers should know Cisco’s 6900 series design uses the entirely proprietary 12 year old SCCP protocol which locks-in consumers to a Cisco design.
So when Avaya paid Tolly for this "independent" report did no one think to use the most up to dat Cisco Phones or indeed to implement Cisco EnergyWise?
Combine this kind of energy saving on devices and networks with increased home working and we can make an impact on our total energy costs!
