as much as i like this phone for the fm transmitter, the rest of it is crap, the screens break to easy, the video player cant play anything, my music is all corrupted and nothing seems to fix it, when it tries to repair itself it hangs for hours without anything happening, i think i`ll just get a fm transmitter for my ipod instead.

I wish I hadn't bought this phone - it's put me off using Nokia ever again - phone won't charge from supplied charger, screen suddenly cracked, charging socket loose, earpiece intermittently working/cutting out, slow to load web browsers, Java container error messages, etc. HTC HD2 on order for me.

there is also another cool thing with n85 the navi wheel its like an ipod when u rotate ur thumb from the.....like the square bottons.

just go to tools>settings>general>navi wheel and turn it on.....it can work in music player, menu, contacts and photos

yes usually most of d nokia Nseries devices hav new transition effects based on its theme..some people just might think tat his/her phone doesnt hav a cool transition effect but its actually the theme effects which happens to be turned off..to turn it on is very simple just go to settings>general>personalisati­on>themes>option>theme effects>turn on..some people havent discovered it yet and they might be stupid enough to think it is because of their phone's version that doesnt hav the effects lolz

It's not lagging.... it's fine till now... even it sometimes stuck by it's own. and i got to reaply batery, but all the others are ok...

i got a lil porblem with butons (the ones down of the screen, the cover is getting somehow, u know, lifted up, if i try to pull it up, with not any power, it may get off...

i just picked up a nokia n85 for $290 AUD but i still had my n96, idk but for some reason the n85 doesnt feel right, the keypad is tiny, the slider is all flimsy and its still buggy, even with the firmware being 30.v, oh and the navi lags pretty bad, im just gonna refund the n85 and stick with my n96 :)

I love flat and tiny keypads, even though my fingers are big enough to say it can anoy me, but it's doesn't. Your not ment to push the buttons with the whole flat of your finger, just the tip. If you master that after having the phone for a while it's no problem. But I thought it was hard to hit the buttons when i first got a phone with small tiny buttons.

I don't think the phone has like it's own internet, but if your at home and have a wireless internett you can turn on the WLAN scanning and use your home net with the phone. Maybe it has it's own internet to, but I don't know. I've ordered it already so I'm getting it on tuesday next week =)

when u transfer a file to ur fone via bluetooth it ALWAYS saves it to ur phone's memory. So make sure the file u r tryin to transfer is not bigger than the REMAINING internal memory.

it is a lithium ion battery.

lithium ions can charge a full battery in an hour or less and there aren't any memory cells.

the old school nickel batteries were the batteries that had memory cells. only the nickel batteries would benefit from a long initial charge out of the box.

I'd forgo the n95 (or n96) as the n85 offers an almost identical feature set in a smaller, newer, and cheaper package.

Instead, look at the Nokia 5800. Looks to be an excellent phone as well but it's geared more toward music than photography (only a 3.2MP camera). I carry my SLR camera around with me, so it's not an issue, but it might be for you.

You won't go wrong with any of them, but if you're in a similar situation to me, go for the 5800, otherwise the n85 is a great choice too.

i just got my n85 its great! not perfect but great. Ive had ip3g 16gb, N96, Samsung onima, sony x1 in the space of 6mths all those phone suck. N85 is slim and fm transmitter :) screen is awsome ok its hasnt got touch but touch needs to still be developed ip3g has the best touch so the rest need to RD their touch. One gripe on n85 is Nokis PC Suite their is a bug MTP -google! and WMP11 nokia needs sorting in the next sw release. i wont be buying a new phone now until samsung onima hd drops >£350
