  • My history teacher brought me here. The man has good tastes in movies,I have to say...

  • now i know what series to rent in blockbuster

  • Jack is my homie

  • I just finished reading the book, I don't know how the book and the movie escaped my notice all these years but if the mini-series is half as good as the book then it's worth watching. I agree with people who used the word "masterpiece" at least for the book. I'll reserve judgement on the TV series if I ever get to see it.

  • @dgelcaganer10h I've both read the book and seen the miniseries. The TV adaptation is very well done, I'd recommend it to any fan of the book. Also if you liked pillars of the earth you should read world w/o end. I think it might even be better than the first book.

  • The Pillars of the Earth is a fucking masterpiece

  • WOLOLOOOO

  • Creative Monkeyz Brought me Here!

  • @XGod55 me2 :D

  • Great show i really liked watching it. one of the reasons is Hayley Atwell : )

  • I've een 2 episodes of the serie so far, and I can't wait to finish it! Unfortunately TV only broadcasts one episode each sunday so I have to wait a whole week...! Outstanding serie already!

  • I LOVED THIS SERIES!!!

  • I saw part one of that in history !!! It's pretty cool,!!!

  • -I love her!

    -YEEEAAAH!!

    :)

  • VALERAN FTW!

  • Hey, it´s that girl from Captain America!

  • This vid went viral on Palau

  • too short :/

I liked it soo much <3

  • I like that Prior so much ;D

  • Got this for Christmas, and I watched the entire miniseries in one day it was so good!

  • What's the name of the music playing? I've been looking for a very long time.

  • @Nineteen1900Hundred: it´s called "Kalki" , by symphonic metal band "E.S Posthumus".

  • @Nineteen1900Hundred E.S Posthumus-Kalki...type that in. You should be able to find it. I did at least.

  • WHY ISNT IT LONGER

  • 1:07 Blackbeard...

  • just listen from 1:19 to 1:21.....so funny XD

  • I want more of this!! :D Loving it so much!!

-And one thing more, why does Ian McShane look like a devil in this?? :P I've got scary.hahahah..

"One day you'll clim very high...ONLY TO FALL!"

  • The BEST thing my eyes have ever seen.. Thank you

  • Wish someone would upload this on youtube!

  • the woman should be Tess of the D'urbbeville.

  • this show is amazingly awesome

  • EVERYONE WANTS SEASON 2 :)

  • I'm at the 125th page of the second volume of the book right now(Portuguese version) and in spite of all my curiosity I stopped this video after 46 seconds because I do not want to spoil the good work of Mr Follet. He's a master of rising the tension and antecipation of what is yet to come in the story. After I finish, which I hope to be till the end of this week I'll get back here to see the rest of this trailer.

  • starz has amazing series man

  • World without end is just as good!

  • Just had a "Pillars of Earth marathon-evening", damn i love these movies..

God bless Ken Follet for writing this.

  • Wow, how can you say the characters never matched the book?? They came sooo close. The first time I saw Prior Phillip, I was like hell yes, blue eyes, how he says ¨God¨, he's perfect. Jacks awkwardness at the beginning, how he grows up, Jack in the end. Absolutely perfect. There were some additions I'm not fond of, incest, ruined Thomas the martyr's story. But really, Freaking Incredible very long movie. Compare it to ANY other book adaptation.

gandalf117: ya haven't read the book. Nuff said.

  • This is one of the best series ever made, and books. I love Ken Folett after seeing this and I must read his other books too. I've already read World Without end and im just waiting and waiting for the mini-series to be finished and that it will be as good as this

  • where I can see all story? If somebody know - thank you!

  • From an artist perspective, I think this is a great film. Well made, well thought out.. Beautiful scenery and romance. I fell in love with jack, i wanted to protect him and hoped nothing bad would happen to him....I adore jack, he was my favorite.

  • to vivlio gamaei...h seira ta spaei!

an kai kalitera na diavasei kapoios to vivlio prota, meta epivalete na deis thn seira.

katapliktiki doulia, vlepo tous xaraktires akrivos opos tous fantazomoun otan diavaza to vivlio

  • @Fiuksz1 why? the book and the film are both awesome, and the adaptation is very well done

  • They've ruined my favourite book. Thanks guys!

  • I read the novel, I could not put it down, if you liekd the show read the book they are both fucking awesome.

  • goustarw trela.

  • I have just finished reading the book absolutley fantastic, now i have just seen some of the video clips left me disapointed all I can say if you have not read the book then you will enjoy the film ,if you have read book you will be left very disapointed.. Ken Follett,s vivid discription of the charactors left me with a picture of what they looked like and I am afraid none of the actors in the film came anywhere near to what I imagined, must say I am waiting for the sequel

  • music is ES Posthumus nice

  • OH MY GOODNESS epic music what is it???!

  • @ReigningNinya1 I think it's Kalki by E.S.Posthumus

  • this series is AMAZING! I can't stop rewatching it!

  • this series is amazing. Very good story

  • The book is an absolute masterpiece!!! I love it so much! I am reading it like crazy!

Aliena and Jack rock, Prior Philip is the new definition of hero without a sword and the entire development of the cathedral brings in so much blood and ambition, you can lose yourself in it!

Ken Follet was a genius and this movie does him justice very well!

May The Pillars of the Earth hold their ground as icons of epicness!

  • Well I have never read the book and thought that the movie sucks but when i decided to give it a chance and watch the series i shit myself! I didn't stop watching even to eat and after i watched the finale episode i was stunned. The next three days i watched the whole movie again twice. One word - Masterpiece

  • @96valdeski

then why don't you just read the book? i love the movie too - but the book is so much better!

  • Prior Philip is the hero above all!

  • Hummm... Before watching it, I must re-read the book, with a great pleasure of course!!! It seems good, but I hope it's not too different from the book....

  • So i just finished the book and am debating about watching the show. How similar are they??

  • holy shit, why did they have to make an so epic show. and make it so short!! OMG!!!

  • I Watched this show once before and i thought it was awesome and am now in the process of watching it again but what i wnat to know is will there be a second series?

  • Does this movie tells anithing about the 2.nd part of the book? I've just finished the first book, and am díing to watch the series, but if it has parts of the second book in it, it would ruin the book.

  • I hope they film World without end aswell (the second book)

  • @We2Bored

    9,5

  • I have just seen the entire series on Blu-ray and it's brilliant. Since some people are complaining it is not as good as the book, they should know that the series is only BASED on the book so it's not meant to be a word for word production (which would be impracticable). All in all, this series is a joy to watch and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

  • Book is amazing now on to the series!

  • i've just finished this 1000+ pages book, great story,i bet the movie is as exiting as the book was

  • @TheRocker0016 its a series and you can watch the episodes online i thought they were great :)

  • I would like to see this!

  • this is the best thing I've ever watched, not kidding

  • Stephen may be the king, but Bishop Waleran is the ace!

  • Jack is sooooooo hoot!!! just as I imagined

  • The novel and the adaptation = my favourite tale of ALL TIME. I've cried every single time from start to finish. <3. Follett's characterisation and the casting is pretty much refined to an art.

The Pillars of the Earth, I bloody love you.

  • CAN ANYBODY TELL ME OTHER MOVIES OR SERIALS WITH A SAME THEME?

I JUST LOVE ENGLISH HISTORY MOVIES...

    THANKS

  • @skarlitsa Camelot is very good and its made by the same network. Theres also game of thrones that stars sean bean

i havent seen any of the series but just read the book

i think i figured out everyone else but not sure about her

    martha?

  • @kevdawg55 Its Queen Maud

  • Will the show end with episode 8? If so I am so sadden because I have been sucked in, drawn in! I loved this mini series! I am tempted now to go buy the book!

  • @taeboluver just finished reading it litteraly five minutes ago(i refuse to watch movies/series until after reading the book...becuz the book ALWAYS comes first)...i highly reccomend it....i havent seen the series and ill admit it looks good...but the book must be much better...its damn near a thousand pages and i finished it in a week...and with amazon you could get it for cheap...just my opinion that you SHOULD buy and read it :)

  • Al Swearengen in the middle Ages?

  • Calling all fellow lovers of the Pillars of the Earth! I finished Pillars of the Earth quite some time ago and since then I have yet to find another book that I love as much as this one any suggestions?? (I've already read World Without End)

  • Love it!

  • best thing i have seen in years...

  • fucking brilliant!!!!!!!

  • Matthew McFadyen...exactly how i pictured Philipp :) And Eddie Redmayne...wowey~ This guy definately needs more public attention!

  • this is an old movie.....

  • Are Ian McShane and Rufus Sewell related ?? There's a strong resemblance.

  • How can medieval characters wear short hair!? Such a shame.

  • @gemmasasha Some had to hear it short almost shaving due to parasite infestation ...

  • I must say I am reading the book and have 300+ pages to go before I finish. I can't put it down! Thanks for putting up this video.

  • I must say I am reading the book and have 300+ pages to go before I finish. I can't put it down!

  • i want some world without end too!

  • @RedandaMusic They are currently in pre-production. Check out Ken's website for details!!!

  • yep

  • Ian McShane ftw!

  • So.... When does World without end come on TV? I really wanna see Merthin and Caris :D

  • This is a fantastic story. I have watched it over and over again - 10/10.

  • be worth watching this inbetween Game of Thrones

  • man i red the book in one day..and in greek is like 1245 pages...my mother though i had epilepsy or something..i looked like linda blair mixes with frodo after that..it rocked thoug..jack and aliena rock..man i said that too many times...i guess i m loony afterall

  • @LizaAtromhthMerenta haha, that's funny. Great series too.

  • I was not a reader at all, but i read the book in a few days,Ken follet can put the reader in the characters mind and keep him stuck for hours while images flow like a movie. The movie adaptation was made very well too with great actors.(it is not about the tudors...unfortunately they arrived some centuries afterwards).

  • guy who glued all this pieces together for this trailer should get a freakin oscar

  • Good series.

  • just finished watching this and it was AMAZING!!!

  • Currently reading this book, absolutly amazing. Loving every moment of it. Haven't gotten very far but I can already tell it'll be one great

  • please someone explain this to me, im a big fan of the tudors, so im thinking this would interest me...Is it about henry vlll ?

  • @roxylulu1 No it's a story about people in the the time of civil war between King Stephen and Matilda but they call her "Maud" in this story for some reason.

  • The best long movie ever made

    thats my opinion

  • By all means its not a historic masterpiece, but good sound entertainment and the show in its own right is a fairly good production I feel with good acting performances. I understand you have a different view and that is your prerogative, but your slaughter of the storyline on the basis you present is, for me atleast, a bit off the mark.

  • Ace... Good enough!

  • looks low budget

  • @blakasassin1 but it is actually sufficient budget.

  • @Ri7en really

  • @blakasassin1 I think so. Its not Avatar, sure, but its not Sinbad the sailor either.

  • could you all please shut up about religion? i just want know if this movie is worth watching.

  • It's filmed well, but I hate how it raped the original story. If I was Ken Follet I would not have let them destroy such important storylines. They might as well remove his name from this production. I'm sorry, but that's how I feel.

  • And lets all go fight over a church! Whoohoo!

  • gay

  • Blood Blood Blood....this is what really happened in your culture nothing but blood and greed

  • @jumpingonglass You want blood? Just wait until islam starts to rear its ugly fucking head. THEN you'll see blood.

  • @islamstillsucksallah Bullshit .

  • @islamstillsucksallah WELL SAID

  • @islamstillsucksallah stupid paranoid fuck. i'm more worried about the pedophile catholic faggots.

  • @MsDDiddy Eat shit and die, moslem lover. What's with the 'Diddy' shit for a screen name? You a nigger or something?

  • @islamstillsucksallah hahaha a muslim hater and a racist. how shocking!! i bet you're one of those fags that pretends to love jesus but is really dreaming of a cock up your ass. you like it rough faggot?

  • @MsDDiddy Go suck your mudhammad's pig cock.

  • @islamstillsucksallah considering mohammed hated pigs and didn't eat them, it would seem a bit contradictory for him to have a pig cock, would it not?

  • @MsDDiddy Yes, trust the filth of islam to consider pigs dirty. But it wasn't pigs that flew planes into twin towers. I've never seen a pig behead anyone. Only the filth of humanity - moslems.

  • @islamstillsucksallah indeed but what do muslims have to do with this show? seems to me like you're a sad pathetic christian fuck who doesn't want to take responsibility for his own religion's actions. pillars of the earth is about the corruption of the motherfucking church dumbass. go make your retarded comments on trailers for muslim television.

  • @MsDDiddy Keep your mouth shut, moslem. No one has given islam any rights to speak.

  • @islamstillsucksallah hahaha and yet i'm still speaking bitch!

  • @MsDDiddy Yes, indeed you are a speaking bitch. You said it, not me. Now, drift along, you stinky little fart. Your imam wants you.

  • @islamstillsucksallah I said it not you? are you retarded? shut the fuck up you inbred redneck and proceed to fucking your sister....i mean your wife and shove your bible up your well-used asshole.

  • @MsDDiddy Up your mudhammadan cunt, you non human slimeball. No one gave you permission to breath human air. Now fuck off and go jihad your family.

  • @islamstillsucksallah hahaha first learn how to spell bitch. did jesus not teach you that? what a shame. at least muhammed taught me to be literate you stupid faggot.

  • @MsDDiddy Fuck YOU, you mudhammadan non human cunt. May your hijab get caught in the cogs of a machine and choke your filthy head off, faggot.

  • I started watching this on Netflix yesterday and i finished the last episode today. I have to say that i liked the series it was much better then id thought it be, and i recommend it !

  • Typical period drama. Nothing but betrayal, adultry, madness and bloodshed.

  • What is with the fucking evil pricks winning and giving it to the good characters again and again in this series? It's like watching kittens getting raped!

The good characters are trying to build a cathedral while the evil fucks are rich and powerful and they just go and rape, kill and screw with them as they wish.

What a cheap way to invoke sympathy! Unbelievable crock of shit!

  • @gandalf117 it's called real life

  • @MrTonymcmahon No, it's not real life! It's a cheap cinema trick to keep the viewers watching by invoking sympathy and desire to get some kind of retribution by the end of the series.

It's cheap and annoying and far from reality, in other words it's a crock of shit.

  • @gandalf117 I think you're describing standard dramatic structure there - the protagonist must face an ever increasing number of obstacles till they break through in the third act. Blame Aristotle - he invented the three act play.

  • @gandalf117 who said "What a cheap way to invoke sympathy! Unbelievable crock of shit!".

Much like your namesake Lord of the Rings? Total evil against the innocent good and all that jazz? Sauron isn't excactly a villain with many sides to him. And what flaws do you see in Gandalf?

Just enjoy a decent story of good and evil. While predictable (like LOTR) it can be enjoyable, if you insist then try to present some valid points for your disgust. Atleast Waleran deserves some sympathy in the end.

  • @Ri7en LOTR is fantasy adventure while this is more like soap-opera fantasy. Decent story? Just look at the portrayal of the characters totally childish and unrealistic. That adds up to a cheap story not decent one.

    valid points:

    1. What kind of a woman marries for money? well, there aren't any good female characters left after she did that.

    2. What kind of a knight is completely dependent on his sister for money? is that how it worked in the middle ages? really? lol

  • @Ri7en more valid points:

    3. The worst of them all has an intimate relationship with his mother. Raped the only hot female character and killed the only realistic character. He burns, rapes and kills and he remains rich and unpunished until the last episode I guess.

    4. The king is evil, selfish and power hungry maniac who gets crazy visions. His rival queen is a cold, ignorant and stupid bitch. They both get their asses liked by an evil power hungry cleric. Is that what all royalty is like?

  • @Ri7en I can give you a lot more valid points if you like but here is not the place.

Like I said eventually this whole series boils down to a cheap, annoying drama meant only to induce sympathy and desire of retribution into the viewers.

When I watch a series I want to enjoy the characters, their actions and what I am watching. I don't want to just get hungry for revenge and keep watching only because I want to see the evil pay and get defeated in the last episode.

  • @gandalf117 commenting while piss drunk ftl. Lol. You got some valid points sure, the realism isn't needed for a work of fiction though in my opinion. I don't feel the characters are as polarized as you make them out to be either.

    1. Are you serious, no women marry for money and status? Bit naive I feel. She is "good" after her rather forced marriage which she does to fulfill an oath. As you yourself point out, it is good writing flawed characters who aren't heavily polarized as good or evil.

  • @gandalf117

    2. Is valid and I agree it is hardly realistic, but it can be refreshing to watch some medieval style entertainment where a woman infact has power and abilities on her own.

    3. He is a tragic character colored by abuse and the incestous relationship with his mother. He is clearly tormented and while not sympathetic, he is still deserving of pity.

  • @gandalf117 4. No, not all royalty is like that, dunno why you go there. But there is certainly some kings who has been evil, selfish and power hungry maniacs who gets crazy visions. One lopped the heads of his wives as he grew tired of them. Another had human torches in his courtyard. A third believed he was god. Plenty of stories to go around. Power hungry clerics have also been prominent throughout time, aspiring popes who assassinate and bribe their way to Rome has been known to happen.

  • @Ri7en I went there because it's too much evil. You are right that there were some really crazy monarchs in history but why put them all in one movie? You said it very well - the characters are polarized. That polarization tends to go too much towards the evil side. I mean the balance is screwed. After I saw Tom undeservedly killed and Aliena wrongly married to that prick I stopped watching.

Other than that I love medieval stories and the actors in this one unlike the writers did pretty well.

  • @gandalf117 I'd recommend you watch past that point when the tragedy is complete. But as in most tragedies, there is also catharsis. It's all a bit simplistic and predictable I agree, I guess it is difficult to do 1000 pages justice even in 8 parts. :) Up to that point some are quite polarized towards evil, but if you haven't picked up on the nuances by then, you will see that these individuals are tragic persons in he end who also deserves some pity despite it all. Atleast thats how I felt.

  • @Ri7en I appreciate you taking the time to write back in response to my critics. I will probably finish watching all the 8 parts. You have proven an avid supporter of this series. One would think that you were even somehow involved in it :)

I am a true fan of sword fighting and the medieval genre. If you know any other series like this one feel free to recommend one. My favorites are Rome, The Sword of Truth, Merlin, but I am sure you have already seen those.

  • So good! Just finished the mini series last night! There were a few small twists from the book, but overall they did a really great job putting the book on screen. Very well cast

  • that was amazing,I saw it ,it was sunning

  • The Pillars of the Earth rocked my world. Hard.

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE SOO MUCH!!!

  • I'm after second tome. God, I hate Will...

  • does anyone knows the name of this song ?? ... btw, I haven't read the book, but after watching this ... I think I would have to do that !!

  • The book is great and this series does it justice!!

  • penis.

  • the pillar to the right or left, Id make my home with pillars all around it But Im not an architect, not sure if thats possible lol

  • great movie...love it

  • Woah...Tom Builder is much more handsome than I pictured him in the book O.O

In that case, I don't blame Ellen for falling in love with him despite their large age difference.

  • Amazing such a good series, and abit sickening just how much power the church had back then.

  • I read the book and this looks spectacular! Ken follett is one of my favorite writers and anything he does I have to check out. I saw that he produced a film that got an oscar selection called white wedding that comes to dvd soon. im interested to see it bc the trailer looks great! Whiteweddingmovie. com

  • Anyone know the name of the kickass song in the background?
