Sounds pretty dangerous lol, I don't think I'm able to do that in big scale, but I'm sure I can do it in a smaller scale. It's actually a nice idea to see how destructive these would have been centuries ago.
This is really cool. How did you learn to throw these? Obviously it takes great skill and patience to learn how to throw them. And i can see that someone has already fallen to your flame shuriken . The outline of a body on the board haha good work,
hey dude: first you say: >I won't tell how I made the torch as some people may misuse this information.
but in the vid you say:> i added too much fuel
if you wanna keep it a secret pay better attention! XD this is pretty cool, but i dont think smth could be used in the past, cuz as houzan said, you must be very close to make it pierce into the wood, so it would be better and safer to make it by hand(maybe it would be possible to throw it into some straw that catches fire)
it was used though, the weapon was called endokuken, i have a scroll of kajutsu there were arrows and shuriken and various devices used to set fires from a distance.
flaming arrows- yes, throwing torches-yes, grenades-yes, chinese rockets- yes-
but a shuriken?? how should they be used? bcoz as i said: you cant throw shuriken at far distances and if youre close: using a torch is far more better
doh! I deleted scot's comment by mistake sry, oops
Well as scot said 10m would be ok for shuriken throws, but in this case I'll have to say a lot less, since the fuel goes out when it's not burning enough or if the distance is too long.
If another fuel was used you could throw further, however the shuriken would become a lot hotter too and you could burn yourself.
These shuriken go out after about 3 minutes once they burning heavily. That would be incredibly dangerous in the old japan.
Yes I only use reverse hanten-dahou at short distance, I tried it at longer range, but not only does the shuriken have less power, but the flame goes out as well.
you can tell the level of shurikenjutsu of a few of us just by the sound the shuriken makes entering the target, unlike certain others who lack any skill. the phrase nonstealthy slam bang dull movements put so eloquently by sandershop comes to mind
yeah, I even noticed that if I do some extra footwork I can put more power into the shuriken, giving it an even greater penetration (only works in short range) I don't always move that much while throwing, but when I add extra power my movement is a lot bigger.
hey thats wrong thats not the nintaijutsu way. you have to buy a crappy knife thats kinda shaped like a naruto kunai on ebay, then you have to go to the fireworks store and by a box a little kids smoke bombs, then you use ninja duct tape and tape it to the handle, then you throw it at the floor and run away because theres people in the public park you're doing it in and your mum would yell at you if she saw you in a cape and mask acting like an idiot.
Awesome mate!

I love how there is a trail of smoke when you throw them. Awesome video.

I kinda loved using these fire shuriken, I'm pretty sure I'll make a second vid during the summer. I just have to redo this!, it's so sweet!
But next time I'm going to try throwing some fire stars.
crazyseba666 2 years ago
I'd like to see that.
BladeThrowerH 2 years ago
oh plz, plz, throw these into a straw thatched roof demo! those would sink in so nicely up to the fueled area =D

dokter213 3 years ago
The body is just for for a better focus. It's harder to concentrate at a whole area rather than just a small area (the head in this case)
I learned how to throw with an akido student and then practised myself during months...then years...
I'll keep practising and practising with my shuriken, untill I'm at my best.
I've learned some extra details about throwing certain shuriken right here on youtube, but the main throwing techniques are nearly always the same.
crazyseba666 3 years ago
This is pretty cool, I might try this, with Hira shuriken though.
Haku92292 3 years ago
You're supossed to do it with shaken => those are called ka shaken, this was just an experiment.
I'll try the ka shaken sometime later on, but the fuel and everything is a lot different and the whole concept is a lot more dangerous.
It is still possible, so I'll give it a try.
crazyseba666 3 years ago
Yeah, I'm kind of a pyro so dangerous doesn't apply.
Haku92292 3 years ago
It's not just dangerous, it's not that as easy as you think. It's gonna be pretty great if you can pull it off successfully.

he didn't say what the fuel was though. in old japan fire was very dangerous there was paper everywhere, these tools would be very effective.
scottbaioisdead 3 years ago
yes, fire itself was very effective, but the use of such a shuriken to set things on flame isnt the best idea

>First I throw with half spin, then with no spin in direct hit.
If you hold like half spin first, and then, throw like
reverse no spin,
I named this throwing
"Reverse Jiki-dahou or Reverse Hanten-dahou"
It is photography of 124 ,125 and 168 pages in my Shuriken book which Mr.
scottbaioisdead has.
This is really good to throw the spike which Firing back.
One defect is weak in power to stab from long distance. However, if it is less than 5m, it will be effective.

By the way、
title "Kaen Shuriken" is better and cool.
火
"Ka" or "Hi" is a meaning of fire.
Kaen is a meaning of "blaze or flame"
火炎
Kaen is very cool as Japanese pronounce.(^_^)
HouzanSuzuki 3 years ago
hmm thanks, it sounds very cool indeed, I'll change it right now!
