Billie Davis I think it's on you tube, but i like Juice newton the best of all the people that perfromed the song, even thought skeeter has a lovely voice.
@brodcaster1956 From what I read Chip Taylor wrote the music and lyrics.a group called the turnabouts along with singer Merrilee had recorded it first then Skeeter Davis,also in 1981 Juice Newton
@brodcaster1956 No Billie Davis had a hit back 1965+-. I am not sure if she was the first. She may well have been. Juice Newton also covered the song amongst others.
Chip wrote this and offered it to connie francis but she turned it down, Billie Davis was First UK release but it was recorded by a few people in USA
