A lot of it here seems to be driver skill. The two Jeeps always have a faster running start and know exactly where to steer. The others that get stuck every time must have been getting pretty embarrassed by the end.
You can still lift for bigger tires, regardless, the diffs are only higher if you have larger tires. It really doesn't matter though, have owned a ZJ and am on my 2nd WJ all three excellent vehicles and do as advertised.
Ahh but I have owned a Land Rover. A 2004 Land Rover FreeLander HSE. Yet it is not a Range Rover, I still loved it. I never got it stuck, and while off roading, I was never worried about it getting stuck. The All-Wheel Drive is amazing on it. But I, love my jeeps. We southern boys dont care about how comfortable something is as long as it does its job, and that job is doing anything and going everywhere. Only in a Jeep baby :D
Yes, johanj81, I can name a SUV that has the performance of a Range Rover and still keep the comfort of a Range Rover: Its called the Jeep Commander. Look it up. Buy one while your at it. You'll save yourself 30k and save your friends a few trips out to the mud hole to come and rescue you.
Okay, it´s official you havent been in a landrover. Claiming that a Commander is as comfy as a Range rover, is like claiming that the royal bed is just as comfortable as the guilitine. And besides the Commander is not as capable as the range rover offroad. It does have slightly better ground clearance, but that´s the only advantage.

Jeeps are real lowtech vehicels. they have the refinement of a 1967 tractor. sure they are a little bit capable offroad, but so are atv´s and if you buy a good jacket they are just as comfortable too. i would rather push my range rover than drive a jeep.
