I'm only using Digital output for connecting my home theater to my computer and i have a problem. I can't adjust speakers using Realtek HD audio manager because i only have to use digital output (it doesn't recognize my home theater as a speakers or something) what should i do?

Realtek primarily does on-board audio. Every desktop motherboard these days has on-board audio and I would say that majority of them use Realtek for the audio chipset.

The only other on-board audio that I know of off hand is part of the nVidia chipset for motherboards, and I don't mean the graphics cards.

If you're using something like a SoundBlaster or Turtle Beach sound card then don't worry about it.

I keep getting this error message saying that my audio-cable isn't plugged in or something. I don't use speakers, only a Logitech G35-headset. It's really annyoing when this god damn thing pops up when I play games and such. Any help?

@Sigbred Since that's a USB headset, they will show up to Windows as a separate soundcard, something that Realtek can't control.

For example, from where i'm sitting on the PC, my front speakers are at about 0.70m away from me, the rear speakers at 0.90m, the Center 0.80m and the subwoofer is right under my feet, i use it as a second chair for my feet lol,I have a fucked up positioning on them. So can I use your config or it's better to do my own?

@SpontanSquad - Hey, I know this isn't relevant to yer vid. But I was wondering if you might know the solution to a prob I'm having. I use SRS Audio Essentials to tweak my sound. On my XP machine I can use -both- the SRS and the built in RealTek EQ and Reverb Environments, but I tried this on my roomie's Win7 PC and SRS disables the Realtek so I can't use the EQ to add more bass / treb. I've tried many times to fix it so I can use both, but no such luck. Any ideas?

Hey, i got an alienware m14x and it wont install the realtek hd audio. It came with DELL audio by realtek, and every time i uninstall and try to install realtek hd audio manager, i just get back DELL audio by realtek. Anyway to fix this, or do i have to buy a new soundcard?

@Kaeden728 It's not really a glitch. Well it is and it isn't. The "rear" speakers in a 5.1 set up are the side speakers for a 7.1 set. I do think that it would make more sense if the drivers detected it correctly and set them correctly for 5.1 instead of you having to manually do that. The odd this is that Windows 7 Sound control panel plays the test audio out of all the speakers correctly either way.

I'm not sure if I have RealTek installed on my Audio Card and I don't know if that can be the problem but I just can't manage to get/install the RealTek Manager.

I managed to install all the drivers/codecs but I just can't install the Manager and that's the thing that I need because I have some problems wetting up my jacks and I don't know if there is some other program besides RealTek Manager that can help me out with the same problem.

To those not getting the Realtek HD Audio control panel to work: Make sure you're using a Realtek soundcard first. Usually it's only for on-board sound.

If the sound supports 7.1 as well as 5.1 make sure in the Realtek controls the "rear" speakers are set for Side Speakers Out. The default setting is Rear Speakers Out.

Speaker tab, on the double click the plug your rear speakers are plugged into, usually Black.

You can double click the images of the speakers to play a test sound as well.

@TranceElevation If you don't have a Realtek audio then the drivers won't do you any good. That would be like having a nVidia graphics card but you want to use the ATI drivers.

-i have the logitech x-530 speakers. in windows i have activated to be 5.1 surround, but on videos, movies, songs only uses the 2 front speakers and the subwoofer

but in games all 5.1 works (probably different configs)

-in linux, on the other hand, all 5.1 speakers are used even on stereo videos

Maybe badly plugged Speakers to "ANALOG Back Panel".You must go to your Motherboard and re-connect the speakers (green plug to the blue input, black plug to the green input and red plug to the red input).Now go to Realtek HD Audio Manager (on right site you have "ANALOG Back Panel") .

Now you'll have "Realtek HD Audio Icon" in Windows Task Tray :)

P.S - If you have 64 Bit System Search instalation in Program Files (x86) :)

Was literally about to do what you said then my computer restarted due to another update... and voila it appeared!!!! So perhaps it takes a while to configure? So if anyone here installs and doesn't get Audio HD manager after restart... wait a while and restart again or follow the steps below!! Thank you!

Okay... I used the link you provided and all it did was install the driver. When I fiddle with the driver properties I get the basic options and there is no Realtek HD Audio Manager like in this video installed, just the driver, I'm genuinley perplexed and not being cute/missed it in task tray or installed programs or whatever.
