The first Red Faction was inspired by the Total Recall movie.

Red Faction Guerrilla is probably inspired by John Carpenter's movie Ghosts of Mars. The Mauraders are like the miners who were infected by the alien virus, became savages, hacked up people, wore their flesh and bones, and had a bunch of grisly monuments and trinkets. Even the EDF scout car looks exactly like the rover in that movie.

@Boom55667 Dude, its amazing. go read a review if you want more detail. It is effectively set on Mars in the future, where the EDF run a Dictatorship over the colonists. You join the Red Faction after your brother dies and liberate Mars, a sector at a time. Its third-person viewpoint, but plays like a FPS. You have to destroy outposts, assassinate, raid and capture various objects like any decent guerilla soldier. Get it, you won't regret it.

@LongLiveGoth i luv third person shooters and scifi, so that's wat caught my eye, but ive played the demos for both the 1st and 2nd games and wasn't impressed. details of the story and gameplay dont make sense at times, which bothers me. i once got the game lost planet for the same reasons im interested in this one but that game was just god-awful. i just want to kno more about it because there seem to b a lot of things i dont like about it but ill watch sum reviews b4 i do anything

Red Faction really has gotten boring. I still own the original, and I haven't bought any of the others. Red Faction 2 wasn't as interesting, and the latest RF games just seem to be another realistic looking interactive action film, yes a film, where you play as a soldier blowing things up. What ever happened to an interesting story line and a plot?!

This game sucked balls. First I could never get it to run on my PC, specs way above the required, just some weird bug. Then, I got the 360 version and immediately wished I hadn't. It's one of those game for open world faggots, that's just boring beyond belief. The new one is much better than this, that isn't saying much but still.

There are 3 Red Factions so far, the fourth will be released on either May 31st or June 1st, depending on your location. The first two Red Factions were First Person Shooters, but then Guerrilla took charge and turned it into a third person shooter with amazing physics. Red Faction: Guerrilla is the latest yet, and Red Faction: Armageddon (also being developed by Guerrilla Games) will be released in late May/early June.

BELIEVE ME. First off this is MY OPINION, and you are all entitled to your own. But trust me 1 & 2 for PS2 were far more enjoyable. Frankly, I thought this one sucked. Put graphics aside people and you'll see. Games used to be much better...and actually had good replay value. Don't buy into these gimmicks of social status BS...like "oooh look how crisp these graphics are", disregarding everything else important to a good, fun game.
