  • Dale is a genius

  • he got an ax on this little piece of land, but no swim skills??? :O

  • whoever made that model ship really went into extreme detail.

  • Donald smokes? 3:07

  • Has there ever been a Walt disney cartoon where Donald actually wins?......Hmmmm....I'll take that as a No.

  • 0:01

  • and of course chip & dale win....again :( poor donald

  • how could they take the boat out ? :)) haha

  • @mandag34 blow the man down

  • Me: realizes sail was cut* WHA?! -:(

  • a ylvki

  • I thought this was about cookies x)

  • I loved how Dale sabotaged all his boats.

  • @gianteagle1 i don't love

  • There's a 3D Viewmaster reel with this episode.

  • Dale pwned Donald four times in a matter of seconds!! Dale so ruled this one!!

  • @Eliyora Lol, pwned, u got that from nigahiga... :)

  • @mandag34 It seems that Dale is singing "Aloha'Oe", which is a common cultural Leitmotif for Hawaii. ( Please don't mind the misstakes, i'm French )

  • DALE SMART IN THIS 1

  • What song is it he is singing? the sailor song on the boat I mean.

  • finally i can understand them!!!! 8D

  • 4:42 is Queen Lili'uokalani - Aloha 'Oe (Farewell to Thee). Sung much too fast in the cartoon, to the point of being difficult to compare, but the chorus in Elvis' cover makes it really obvious.

  • its funny how dale took apart all of donalds boats b4 he could get on them. Dale is awesome.

  • @regularjosh1

    Chip: He's coming after us!

Dale: *pulls out a pair of scissors* Don't worry skipper. *Donald realizes his sail was cut out, goes to the canoe*

Chip: Look what he's doing now.

Dale: *pulls out a hand drill* Calm yourself, Captain.

*Donald sinks due to all the holes in the canoe, goes to the rowboat.*

Chip: He's coming in a rowboat.

Dale: *Points to screws next to him* Don't worry, the situation is well in hand.

    *Donald's rowboat falls apart*

  • LOL at 4:05-4:11! The anchor is falling rapidly toward his foot and Donald does nothing but look directly into the camera!

  • Also when Donald starts the boat the flywheel is not turning after he pulls it.

  • Is it just me or do Chip and Dale actually start out moving backwards for a few seconds at 1:40?

  • @Tyvadia haha WTF

  • "Man overboard!" lol!

  • God what happened to Disney why don't they make good stuff like this anymore

  • This cartoon brought back some good memories. Such an awesome cartoon!

  • Nice to know ducks still can't swim...oh wait...

  • What is the name of the song that Dale sings at 4:42 ? I have been looking for it.

  • how they took out that ship from inside a bottle is a mistery xD

  • chips ahoy is my fav cookies :D

  • Donald Duck+ water- swim I think Donald never thought of that LOL

  • Is it just me, or are Chip and Dale stupid to laugh about their nut supply being chopped down...?

  • I eat turtles :)

  • I thought it was going to be about the cookie brand!

  • @Stinkfly3 XD

  • Quite ironic that a duck gets stuck on an island...

  • Anybody recognize the quacking Donald does before the Sailor diddy? It's Daisy's tune. Anybody interested in that song watch "Crazy Over Daisy" for it.

  • The cartoon ends before Donald can put together his own boat from the tree he chopped down. So, my question is this: does he ever get revenge on them once his boat is complete?

  • probably my favorite Donald & Chip & Dale cartoon

  • Dale is clever

  • I had this book growing up as a kid! Thanks for posting it and bringing it back to life for me! :)

  • that one was always my fav

wait practically ALL of them are awesome

  • my my, is this one of the better introes or something?

  • donald duck hates the water???????? he can swim

  • @luis23789 he one of those ducks that can't swim

  • extra donalds at the end when he's making the boat :L

  • Who get`s stuck with all the bad luck, no one but Donald Duck

    xDD

  • can u just SWIM?

  • wow a cartoon character smoking, never see that these days lol

glad to see Dale was the man of the hour this time.

  • ur hahahaha chip pand daie hahahahaahahahahhahhahaha

  • LOl, he will come to them and kille them!

  • its like im watching it in a cinema!!! very good quality!!!

  • when they make this its so much more like hq simpsons the bg

  • is it just me or is it really quiet?

  • @Mr1234getonthefloor the sound isn't good cause the ones of this year are so old, they lost a lot of the sound in restoration

  • @TheGreshProject

That's not the reason. There are films from WAY before the 50s with crystal clear sound. It has to do with either the quality of the DVD print or (more likely) the upload.

  • Doanld has always been hot tempered, but I dislike how Disney made him malicious later on.

  • @TenderTrap86 - Later on? What do you mean? Don has always had a bit of malice within him...

  • @mamamuas he think he ment mickey mouse club house he doesn't lose he tempers alot but he usually happy

  • @brb1006 my sister's friend's little brother hates that show cause It just isn't funny with Donald's "modern voice" and unbearable joy

  • @TheGreshProject yeah it get's a little creepy at moment's and it is annoying when chip say half a sentence and dale finishes the sentence chip said if you notice that in ep's they appear in

  • haha, dale should have been the skipper lol

  • I <3 Donald Duck but always I Hated the chimpmunks chip and dale...

  • I DONT KNOW

  • When they showed Donald at the end, he was making another boat. What happens afterwards? Does he get his revenge on Chip and Dale later on? Just wondering.

  • @Dac719 no, in the origanal versoin it sinks and they laugh at him

  • did he say oh shit

  • @623jrs When?

  • Did you know? The Chip And Dale Found Applecore In The Tree

  • 1:15 - For a second there, Dale thought he was Jesus. It happens to all of us.

  • ..How the hell did they get the ship out of the bottle?

  • This is one of a handful of Donald shorts directed by Jack Kinney, who was otherwise mainly responsible for Goofy shorts. Other Kinney-directed Donald shorts included "Der Feuhrer's Face", "Duck Pimples" and "Donald's Diary".

  • @disneyfan85 He should have made more! :)

  • @darmokthegreen Well, his mainstay at Disney was Goofy, although Jack Hannah did direct a few Goofy shorts.

  • @disneyfan85 Yeah, Hannah did the Goofy shorts while Kinney was working on features during the 40s.

  • @darmokthegreen It was during the time when Disney shelled out all those package films after the war. Kinney also was a sequence director on "Pinocchio" and "Dumbo".

  • You do have to wonder how they got the ship out of the bottle. 1:50

  • 1:40 Chip & Dale are sliding the wrong way for a couple of seconds. lol

  • I really wish someone would wise up and put these kind of cartoons back on tv instead of this load of crap they give our children to watch now! I love these cartoons and can only find them here. Thanks whoever posted them. Really considerate of you.

  • @bpsmiller263 You should be able to find these in a collector set @ best buy and what not. They were selling them. And for a while I could only find Oswald! So who knows what they have now.

  • It goes by so fast you miss it----at 5:26, they re-traced an old shot that looks like it's from around 1940 or so. You can see his proportions are a little different and his overall form is rounder and "squishier", like all their animation was 15 years earlier. Then it cuts to the next shot and it's back to the harder, more streamlined 50s design.(You'll notice they didn't bother to change his smile to a scowl to fit with the new scene---guess they figured it was so quick no one would see it.)

  • Nice find!

  • dandx dxmariaadx dxdxdxdx mama mea este buna

  • @Marbles471 You're right - It's probably from "Put-Put Troubles", which is from 1940 and also has Donald with a motorboat.

  • @Marbles471 ya that is hard to find I had to use the link 4 times before I got it!

  • @TheGreshProject

Yeah, it's so quick, I'm not sure how I ever noticed it to begin with.

  • @Marbles471 It was likley just someone using a different style as they had multiple animators that worked on these. You notice that but not the scene where Donald has the boat in his hand and yet no sign of Chip and Dale on deck? It don't matter for either becuase it just a good old cartoon flubs and all.

  • @roaklin

The chipmunks thing is a flub. But that quick shot is definitely not just a style difference. The differences between Donald's 1940 and 1956 designs are pretty distinct (eye spacing, body shape, etc) and so is the difference in the texture of the animation---30s and early 40s stuff was very rounded and soft, and it got more streamlined and solid over time until by the 50s everything felt harder and more compact. That quick shot is definitely retraced from an earlier one.

  • @Marbles471 no its just cause hes bein throwin backwards by the thrust

  • @foncannonman

    Trust me.

Go look at "Put-Put Troubles" from 1940. The shot appears at about 2:21---the direction is reversed, but it's the same animation.

  • @Marbles471 Good eye

  • @Marbles471 I understand what you mean, the artists and the colorist colored back ground a bit softer so you get a better sense of depth.

That is normal in real life it happens the same.

You can see the same in nature or in cities etc

The artists creates by soften the colors and outlines, also more speed in the background when needed.

  • At 2:07, Chip's teeth look funny. LOL!

  • RKO Radio.Hmm...even Randy Orton was in the oldies.

    LOL

  • oh my god......i had this cartoon stuck in my memories :)

  • a duck that do not swimms? ahahaha

    nice one donald duck

  • Dale Take All The Boats Away This Is Funny!

  • One of my favourites. Funny how Donald is a duck and can't swim across a lake. Awesome cartoon, I totally remember this one from years back.

  • Comment removed

  • When did donald start to smoke?

  • Actually, the real question is, "When did he stop?" XD

  • lol when did dale find time to disable donalds boats??

  • @bigbuuma16 Problably at 4:23 they had a deleted scene of Dale Disabling the boats.

  • @yousuck785why The Music is a Hawaiian song.

  • Chipmunks.

The REAL scourge of the seven seas.

  • this donald duck cartoon is too funny.

  • Yo Donald! You do know that your a duck..

  • @utubedano actually I dont think he does cause in early to bed he says "Maybe I'm just a duck. But I'm human" lol

  • now that was geniuses 3:19

  • I love this in wide screen view. But the volume was uploaded or recorded too low.

  • My kid loves all of the Donald videos and so much and so, she watches it everyday!

She, however, wonders why Donald doesn't swim on his own when everything fails! :-D And she is 2.5 years old!

  • Good job making sure your kid gets to see decent cartoons even when Television won't let them :)

  • @mommynme2009 lol, I missed that fairly obvious point and I'm 35!! You'd have thought that he#d take to swimming like a duck to water!

  • Sometimes, when I watch Dean and Sam in Supernatural, I get reminded of Chip And Dale. These two chipmunks are too much! Too adorable!! :-}

  • 5:52 they do exactly the same movements xD

  • 1:54

  • I love the part in the beginning where they're on top of each other in the tree and one gets donkey-punched.

  • I was thinking Dale Spewed on Donald coz of sea sickness

  • I had no idea that this was in Cinemascope. I saw this cartoon on VHS. The opening titles were like any Disney cartoon.

  • Well, in the Disney A to Z offical encyclopedia, it did mention that this cartoon was filmed in cinema scope so it didn't surprise me.

  • I had no idea either! I'm just finding out now!

I'm confused why they would have made a "standard" version with regular titles in the first place, since Disney cartoons had almost no television life until the 1980s. But whatever the reason, that's what ended up on the VHS release we've always known until now.

  • Disney was all over television from the very beginning! The Mickey Mouse Club and the Wonderful World of Disney both began in the 50's.

These great cartoons were shown on tv regularly for decades, it's only now that they've become very hard to find.

  • Sure, they were shown on Wonderful World of Disney and Mickey Mouse Club, but never with the titles included. Mickey Mouse Club only lasted a few years, and WWoD usually sliced and diced the cartoons to mix them into new material. In terms of being shown intact and on their own, I don't think Disney cartoons were shown much at all until the '80s.

(That's the extreme opposite of WB, whose old cartoons used to be EVERYWHERE on TV.)

  • and even then in the 80s you only got to see them on a premium cable channel

  • @Marbles471 There were probably still a lot of cinemas at the time which didn't have cinemascope-sized screens.

  • Jack Kinney's last Disney picture.

  • Best quality version. Thanks!

  • I prefer the standard intro, thisone is like Beezy Bear. Why did they have more than one intro?

  • Love u~

    Thank for upload~

  • Love this episode. Finaly Dale is the one with the good ideas and did he just hit Chip for doing something clumsy at 1:05.

  • Yes I think Dale hitting Chip is unique to this episode. However Dale is the star of two of the best episodes in addition to this one: Chicken in the Rough and Test Pilot Donald. Although he doesn't take the lead, he's always creative and independant.
