Feel free. Unlike the right, these people respect free speech even when they disagree. Of the 20,000+ people out that day, there were about 10 counterprotesters. 5 held flags, had signs saying "Bomb Iran," tried to provoke confrontations, and were probably cops. The other 5 were from the Fred Phelps clan and had the usual "God Hates Fags" message and equating the US's coddling of "the gays" with our dead in Iraq. Perhaps these are the groups you could join.
Clown bloc is exactly what it sounds like. Its a mix of street theater and direct action. Rather than dressing in all black (ie black bloc) Protesters dress as clowns. It evokes the same response that Code Pink or Grannies for Peace use to their advantage. Because how do you pepper spray a clown in the face?
Thanks for the original comment, Captain 1968. If you did 5 seconds of research, you'd find that these people live in New York, aren't hippies, and are nearly all employed (rent ain't free in NYC). Probably not in jobs you'd approve of, of course, since you sit in judgment on high: teachers, day care workers, lawyers, professors, dancers, music instructors, union organizers, office workers, writers, and more.

I do have a life and I am making a more of a difference in the world than these people protesting. Talk about wasting 6 years of your life people protesting since 2002 and what have they accomplished?
yes, obviously every single person there has only protested and done nothing else in the last 6 years (or more).
i'll tell you what is really a waste of time: posting comments on youtube. this is the first and last time i'll be doing it. prove to me to you have a life by not responding. i sure won't be.

First I do not have to prove anything to you. Let me remind you who contacted who first. I suspect you are a member of this group but I may be wrong. These RMO's are not taking protest seriously it is a party for them. If you want to protest and it makes you fell better then go ahead. But you will not accomplish anything. I have a life. I have traveled and worked in New York, Michigan, Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas and now West Virginia. And I plan to visit Iceland or Ireland.
What are you guys talking about! I saw them in person. And as a political activist and a former band geek, I really loved it! And there is nothing wrong with having fun while protesting something as serious as the war. That's really what is missing in today's antiwar movement, is any sort of antiwar culture. Good job guys and girls, keep it up!
Im a big fan of you guys, I saw you in the LES bike art parade last year and you were GREAT.
Hugs from Argentina.

When I see videos like this I think to myself maybe the Europeans are right and Americans are stupid.

Thought you Euro's would have understood street theater.
What would you have these guys doing throwing petrol bombs and rocks instead.
eyewrenchee 3 years ago
obviously you aren't aware that the Europeans invented notion of "clown block".
