  • finally, been looking for this video for such long time, underrated band

  • This is the catalyst of my visual surreal trip

  • Remembers me UNDER THE PIPE... without voice.

  • IS this from Incubus' new album?

  • Can't stop listening to this everyday

  • My musicianship teacher was ill so a random man came in and instead of teaching us about the classical period played this for us instead. It was so much better than the usual lessons :'D

  • This is not Incubus... are so better than them!!

  • Comment removed

  • sounds like Incubus. not bad

  • @lambdatempest you are kidding, please dont compare this amazing post progressive rock with incubus, cuz oceansize are in another level of music

  • @zancudero there are a few similarities between this song's chorus and the chorus in 'Nowhere Fast' by Incubus, i can see where he'd be coming from.

  • @zancudero come on, oceansize is progressive, incubus is progressive in various cases. we shouldn't compare, but the sound and the voice is similar, no doubt about that.

  • @progressiphiLe

    post progressive.

  • @zancudero there is some sound similarity on this song so i tend to agree with his comment. also, incubus are very good band as well :) no need to say who is better or worse. i can hear a bit of mike patton in the vocals at the start too

  • @zancudero took me a while to respond. no.. i am NOT kidding. This band may be on 'another level' .. but this sounds like incubus. there is no denying it.

  • But I am so fearful of the future,

    Ignorant of the present,

    And wary of the past...

  • I had always heard of Oceansize but for some reason never really payed much attention until Mike Vennart started playing with Biffy. Boy have I missed out!

  • i miss them so much.

  • reasently discovered this gr8 gr8 band to hear they're already dead. wtf

    ...such a shame

  • The lead singer has a kind of Brandon Boyd-Mike Patton hybrid vocal thing that he does...aka I DIG THE SINGING

  • Amazing !

  • this is amazing.im so drunk!!

  • excellent song, the guitar that enters at 0:18 sounsds like a radiohead style riff... does anyone feels the same?? just an observation :) oceansize rules

  • @irondeth33 Yeah, I know what you're talking about. Sounds a little like Airbag.

  • @comfortablynumb4 Just saying that Tool is the most popular alternative rock band, and Oceansize is better. :)

  • :(

  • So underrated, for no reason at all...

I'M BLESSED to have known you.

    This isn't goodbye.

    Later, Oceansize...

  • I'll miss you Oceansize.

  • RIP Oceansize

  • Just found this band. Where have you guys been all my life?

  • @Aspenshadow721 Waiting for you to find them.. You're in for a treat.

  • Oceansize is still spining inside my Prog-head...no need to words

  • Great Song

Love Oceansize at the moment!! Epic stuff

  • this is a realy a good sings

  • @antoinec327 This is a really a good bands

  • Finally someone worthy of replacing Tool. Was about time.

  • @ShanduMafia91 jao be dushane. my thoughts exactly!

  • @ShanduMafia91 lol I like both tool and oceansize, but tool definitely has more original and better crafted song structures..

  • @WickedWitchKING ..though the smoothjazz element in this one is quite original..

  • i like the Kafka reference at 2:53

  • @coolbraz What does he refer to? I cant hear what hes saying...

  • might just be the greatest riff i ever heard.

  • Brilliant stuff

  • oceansize, porcupine tree, pure reason revolution, MY version of 3 best neo-prog band

  • off beat and polyrhythmic wow!

  • It pains me that muse get number ones while these go unnoticed

  • @fantapple but Muse is great too. and yea this song is reli cool.

  • hell yeaaaaaahahhahaha

  • oceansize the only show i wached sober and it was the best show i've ever seen

  • Explosions In The Sky had a love child with Tool, raised it in the UK, and this is the result <3

  • @wreckedd Sounds more like A Perfect Circle than Tool in my opinion (but what does that matter anyway *insert rolling eyes here*)

  • inspirational...

  • To me, this band sounds like a combination of three different bands(no i'm not naming them!!) mixed up and turned into something completely different.

Really interesting, off to explore some more....

  • THIS video was the first thing I ever saw/heard of Oceansize. Nowadays, I can't imagine my life without this band.

  • @M1NDG4ME25 Click to google translate tool to Know what I wrote...SONO ITALIANO E SCRIVO ITALIANO...Un bacione dalla Sicilia

  • @19DrGonzo82 Fucker this is America.

  • @M1NDG4ME25 Traduci questo ora: Si IARUSU DO CULU!!!! Listen this song and shut up.

  • @M1NDG4ME25 Ah so that's where the internet lives. I did always wonder ; )

  • huh, looks like seven people accidentally hit the thumbs-down button..

  • reminds me of the video i made, long live creepy ink

  • woah just heard about this band. good but the chorus and the singer sound like incubus

  • @fissnoc ..he doesn't he sound anything like brandon boyd........

  • well i just found out cus steven wilson form porcupine tree said there where a good band and they are fucking awesome as someone said............

  • Oceansize are my new music obsession. I found them linked to Bloodbath of all places!

  • Davvero un bel SOUND. Ottime le voci.

  • i absolutely love these guys :D

  • ESTA CABRONSISIMA :B!!!!!!!!

  • @lemilemur really, it is xD fucking awesome (:

  • Yes get out the 80's lavalamps and lets make a video :-)

  • Where can I get this?

  • fucking awesome

  • im happy i found this...

  • how the hey am i just now hearing this greatness. sounds sort of like opeth and billy howerdel

  • where bouts this band from?? there deadly

  • @dannyirwin, Manchester, I believe.

  • now thats some art.

  • This song is great,yes.

Love it,now one of my favorites.

  • Award for: "Best video of the under rated artist of the century" goes tooooo.....

    OCEANSIZE - CATALYST

  • I totally love prog and this is a great example why!

Wonder why people are still listening to ordinary music!

  • @MyLordCamelot Music is music, people like what they like. It's as simple as that. If you have to wonder why anyone is listening to anything than you'll never truly "get" music

  • Well, that wasn't a serious remark of mine.

I just used it to underline my devotion to progressive music. I also listen to other kinds of music.

  • I LOVE Oceansize's sound. So textured and cool.

  • Vocalist reminds me a bit of the guy from Incubus, especially in his more scream-y parts. Great stuff this, though.

  • forgot how good Oceansize are, probably the most underrated band ever, the fact they aren't fucking huge is criminal! they get compared to Tool, but are at least 1000x better!

  • 1000x better than tool.... Wow man...stop saying bullshit... this band is good but they certainly get some of their inspiration from Tool. Tool create a Wave, you just can't compare Tool with this band...

  • well that's just, like, your opinion man

  • Dude...Tool is an amazing band ...the two are genious....BUt tool is more of alternative metal...or art metal/rock...this one is prog...i love the 2 of them

  • dude luvinhas tool and this are also my favorite.

  • When I awoke with a start today, determination was set.

Filled with expectation, sacks of soul to collect.

But I am so fearful of the future,

    Ignorant of the present,

    And wary of the past.

    And through the door

I shuffle quietly down the hall,

    Identical corridors and artificial lights.

  • omg this is soo great why havent i heard of this before?

  • Great video

  • can someone tell me what time signature this is? im pretty sure its not 4/4 :/

  • sounds like the beginning is in 7/4 to me, verses in 6/4?

  • it varies throughout the piece, from 7/4, to 6/8, to 4/4...so yeah...all of them at differnt times in a different order...work it out ;)

  • the intro is in 4/4 (the guitar strumming) althought it may not seem it

but when the riff comes in, it goes from 4/4 to 3/4 every bar

  • Nah, it sounds like straight 7/4 to me. I don't think there is any reason as to why it should be mixed meter.

  • its mostly in sevens.

  • It changes throughout. Just like every oceansize song. I don't think you could name more than 6 or 7 of their songs which stay constant.

  • seriously one of the most badass songs I have ever heard. The lyrics are amazing, they just seem awesome.

  • this is the first time i heard them...they are brilliant...anyone knows who directed the video?

  • try wiki. . .

  • this and Music For A Nurse are my favourites by Oceansize. They are such a deep band. The lyrics can mean so much. Brilliant. :)

  • Commemorative T-shirt

  • Very interesting video

  • cool video from a very cool album

  • Saw them the other night supporting Faith no More..they went down well!

  • 55 minutes is perfect for an album.

  • Is there anywhere i can download this version?

  • it is available as a .mov file on the Catalyst CD single.

  • ok Cheers :)

  • @MagicMoose18 and then you convert it into a Ninja. I mean an .mp3...

  • love this song!!!

  • Seeing them on the 21st live :D

They're supporting Biffy Clyro at The Corn Exchange, Edinburgh.

I met the drummers brother on the bus today and apparently the drummer has a PhD in drumming, one of only three in Britain. It's how i came across them. I didn't even the were supporting Biffy so i'm very happy cause they're AWESOME!

  • Best scream in modern rock,

reminds me of Wedstock, haylofts and Jasmine x x

  • wow nice band :)

  • They gigged with Hopesfall. They MUST be good... and they are. ;) Ordered the album yesterday. over 70minutes... long album, haha

  • I typically see 40-55 minute albums as short albums, lol. CD's can hold up to almost 80 minutes for a reason. :p

  • Neal Morse's "One" is 79 minutes and 55 seconds long.

  • Quote: "NOBODY does it fucking better."

You, sir, spoke the absolute truth.

  • the slight ambience in this song and the visuals do remind me of my bloody valentine too.

  • Oceansize FTMFW!!!!!!!!!!!

(porcupine tree fan here as well :P)

  • argh! the edit of this song sucks! probalby cos im used to full version which is mind blowing

ah well why am i complaining

    its still the 'size

  • I found this band today, as I'm a fan of Porcupine Tree. This is a beautiful song and video

  • porcupine tree ftw

  • Heh, that's actually the way I found them too. Porcupine Tree is awesome. Oceansize is cool too.

  • It's almost the best parts form some of my favourite bands.

    But not quite. Good though.

  • such a beautiful song

  • perfect symbiosis of music and pictures...a definite visual masterpiece

  • who is the drummer? he rocks!!!!

  • go watch divine heresy's drummer o_o

  • Mark Heron

  • I AGREE

  • I AGREE

  • Now this is an AWESOME band. Like totally badass to the core, no holding back. They remind me of my younger days listening to Swervedriver, Shudder to Think, Quicksand, Jawbox, Hum, Sunny Day Real Estate, Chavez, etc.

  • "Badass to the core". Superlol

  • also my bloody valentine and mogwai

  • how dare you compare oceansize to such shit as my bloody valentine. >:(

  • Good band

    No

    Great band

    Hmm

  • it was an honor to see this band live.

  • J'adore...

  • I discovered this band just a few weeks ago and all I can say is: FUCKING AWESOME!

  • agreed

  • Felt the same when I discovered them last summer.

  • fuck yeah!

  • Oceansize are fu.., eeeh very good, indeed !

  • nice,very nice music.

  • i saw these supporting the smashing pumpkins. i though they were very good

  • This song it's a MASTERPIECE!!!!!! trully beautiful and almost perfect...

  • incubus roots are funk & these are progressive rock

its like comparing an orange & a biscuit

    anyway...oceansize are fu**in brilliant

  • Oceansize are awesome live. Incubus are ok live. Catalyst is a fucking awesome song.

And S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is a seriously good album.

  • Incubus are great live

  • I love Incubus, but they aren't even close to the same league as Oceansize.

IMO, Oceansize are the best band in the world. Even better than Radiohead. Yep, I said it.

  • Oceansize, yes. And Pinapple thief, man !

  • de lo mejor que he escuchado ultimamente... OCEANSIZE rocks!!!!!! grettings from costa rica!!!

  • WOW.

And I thought Incubus was good.

    These guys fuckin rock!!

  • incubus suck family sized donkey balls. they're diet rock for girls that don't like their music too loud

  • ....? Have you ever listened to "S.C.I.E.N.C.E"? I'm assuming no, because if you'd had you wouldn't have gone out of your way to sound like such a cock-eyed fucking chud.

  • aw did i hurt your feelings princess? the truth is the truth and i've had enough of their "music" inflicted on me to make my mind up. cock-eyed fucking chud. wow thats clever. got me right in the feelings with that one

  • Inflicted? You sound like you're being held down and it's forced down your throat?

.. and calling me "princess" is no better than calling you a "chud". At least me calling you a "chud" doesn't make me sound like a homosexual.

  • music down the throat. interesting. i meant inflicted as in listening to it was painful and i don't make judgements on things without experiencing them first and at least princess not only made sense but was used to imply that you come across as a bit of a bitch. chud just means to bite. moron

  • How am I a bit of a bitch? By explaining to you a clear point that "S.C.I.E.N.C.E." was clearly not "diet rock".

.... and on that note... diet rock? You sound like a housewife who uses made little terms she heard entertainment tonight. I think the "princess" would be you... princess.

  • so calling me a cock-eyed fucking chud is what you call clearly explaining a point? well i'm convinced. can't really argue with that logic now can i?

as for diet rock, what can i say, it just felt appropriate and i'm irish so i don't know what entertainment tonight is i'm afraid.

i like the way you turned the tables on me and called me a princess. didn't see that one coming. very original.

seriously though you should really think things through before you go picking on someone bigger than you.

  • Bigger than me? I'll just completely ignore that statement soley on how fucking stupid you sound saying it.

Interesting. How when I called you a chud, there was a little statement before that about "S.C.I.E.N.C.E." is not "diet rock" (again... whatever the fuck that is). But for someone who was so ready to ask whether or not you made me cry... whic his stupid in itself... you were rather quick to read something rude I said before the point made.

  • so basically what you're saying is i should have ignored your outrageous insult which i fully deny! and instead just been totally convinced by your rhetorical question and non existent statement? because let's be honest friend (do you mind if i call you friend? i feel we've become quite close over the last few days!) your reply went from question to insult with no statement whatsoever.

ever heard the saying "it's better to be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt"?

Keep working on! making good music.
