  • Your vibrato is perfect. Love the tune, too.

  • Hey bro just to let you know i got the 330(FIREGLOW)LAST AUGUST.THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE TO MY QUESTIONS,AND FOR YOUR VIDEOS.I THINK THIS IS MY FAVORITE OF THEM ALL.KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK(OR PLAY)I COULD LISTEN TO THIS ALL NIGHT LONG,AND I AM REALLY A ROCKER.GREAT TONE,FEEL,JUST KEEP PLAYING BERT

  • @mailman6161 Thanks man. I appreciate all that. If you make any videos of your 330, I would love to watch them. I love the Fireglo finish. I'd like to have a Rick 12 string in Fireglo....or Jetglo. :) Keep rockin!!!

  • So, are they sound great with a little bit of distorsion? what about chords, my teacher told me sometimes this guitars coupled sounds. Is that true. thank you, it's a beautiful guitar. Anyway I want to be sure, I'm between a strat and the 330/6, I want to pick a ric

  • @megamicron The Rick sounds amazing clean or with distortion. It is a very distinct-sounding guitar that just has that unmistakable Rick sound. I can't say enough about my Rick. Strats are awesome too. I have a '96 American Strat that I simply love!

  • not country

  • @ishmaelblues It's not suppose to be.

  • Very, very nice and enjoyable :)

  • I'm thinking of saving up money for a Rick. But I don't know which one to get a 325 or 330?

Do you think you could help? Great song by the way.

  • @waglet74 They are completely different in so many ways. The 325 is smaller, has more vintage-sounding pickups, has a tremolo that's not very functional, is a solidbody and is also way more expensive.

The 330 is semi-hollow, has hotter pickups, has a more of a medium-sized body, and costs way less. Hope this was helpful. You just have to look at your personal tastes and playing style. If you have more questions, please feel free to ask away! I personally absolutely love my 330 :)

  • @vela75 Thank you very much! I'll go to my local store tomorrow and then see which one is the most expensive, then I'll make my decision. :)

    - Peace & Love

  • Hey man thanks so much for your response.Few take the time to do so,and i appreciate it.My next question is if you could get a 330 or 360 for the same price, would you still take the 330?And do the finishes make them sound different?Jet gl. painted, fire gl. stained, maple natural Just curious as i am about to pull the trigger. Thanks again

  • No problem!

I would definitely get the 330, but it's a matter of opinion. They're both great!

It could be that Rickenbacker is making even better guitars post-price increase? The 360 may be a finer instrument now than it was. Just a guess.

As for finish effecting the sound... Hard to say. I would say it wouldn't make a difference, but maybe w/ the MG having no paint, it might have a more open sound, w/ more sustain/projection. Only a guess.

    Hope I was helpful!

  • Excellent Just a great sound, very very smooth. Does this guitar sound this good in an amp?.I'm wanting a Rick terribly, but can't decide between the 330 or 360.Have you compared the 2. Thanks for your music keep going

  • @mailman6161 The guitar sounds AWESOME through an amp. i just do these videos direct because it's easier, but man there is nothing like the sound of the Rick through my Vox AC15 and Fender Twin Reverb.

I actually had a 360, but sold it a couple years ago. I would say, without question, the 330 blows the 360 out of the water. I don't know what it is, but the 330 is a million times easier to play and sounds way better. It could be one of the those peculiar guitar things?? Hope that was helpful.

  • Really nice job there. What are you playing through? I just got a nice 360 jetglo. Wow they play easy.

  • @tatsandteles I was going direct into my Korg Digital Recorder, which has amp settings and effects.

Yes, there's nothing like a Rick!!! I had a 2002 Midnight Blue 360, but had to let it go a while back ago, but then I got my new 330 and LOVE it!!! Enjoy your new Ricky.

  • rickenbacker jazz tones are my absolute favorite in my oppinion they beat an l5 or any giant archtop in most ways

  • this wouldn't be good for jazz, would it? i've heard people say that they're too bright; but if you really needed to, would you be able to get the tones?

  • @29396 The Rick really isn't "ideal" for jazz, but you would be surprised at the versatility you get out of this guitar. You can get some very thick jazzy tones using the middle and neck positions. Maybe sometime I should post something with those settings.

    Thanks for watching.

  • The Rick, IMO, is an under-rated guitar. Has tones most wouldn't think of.

  • I completely agree. There's nothing like a Rickenbacker. Most people never even consider them because you never really see them hanging in guitar shops like Fenders and Gibsons. Ricks are amazing. Thanks for watching!

  • You're quite welcome. The first person I think of when I think of Rick''s are Byrds.

They're whole early sound was from the

Rick. Then of course The Beatles. Even

Fogerty played one w/Creedence. Can't forget others lke Tom Petty, etc :)

  • Peter Buck of R.E.M., Johnny Marr of The Smiths, Pete Townshend, Paul Weller...The list goes on doesn't it? :-)

I'll be getting my 330 jetglo finish in 3 weeks...can't wait.

  • We could be awhile goin down the list of names :) i KNOW you're excited :)

  • Great song and love the tone

  • Thank you. :)

  • Hey man just wondering if you could tell me about the bending of the string. Does it become easier after you play it for a while because when I tested this guitar about , I found whilst bending the strings I couldn't really get much out of them. I felt like I was restricted from getting some big bends out of the string. Thanks

  • Ricks are harder to bend because of the smaller frets. BUT, having said that, if you put lighter gauge strings on, it bends extremely easily. It won't bend like some guitars that are more built for speed, but it does bend really well with the lighter strings.

It took me forever to decide to go to 9s. Once I did, it was night and day. Don't give up on Rickenbackers. They are amazing guitars!!! You just have to use lighter strings on them.

  • what gauge strings do you have on your 335?

  • I use Gibson Brite Wire 10s on the 335.

  • is it harder to bend on these guitars?

  • It is harder. But, I have 9's on the Rick and have lowered the strings as low as they will go. It is now pretty easy to bend. It's not as effortless as my 335 though. You get used to it and the sound the Rick puts out is WELL worth it.

    :)

  • amazing! I really enjoyed that, you play a Ricky like no other!!

  • Thank you very much!

  • Thanks for showing you can play more on a Rickenbacker than Ticket To Ride!!!! That was beautiful. You need to get your behind into the studio and start crankin out CD's. I've seen people with far less talent have sucsessful music careers. Good luck, and keep posting.

    Mike

  • Thank you for the compliments. I really appreciate that.

    :)

  • i have a Rickenbacker 330/6 think there so versatile unlike what people say about them being a Beatle/ Byrd guitar with high gain pickups you can play loads... what are using to get this sound though?

  • I know. People must think.."Who has used a Rick...., ok, The Byrds, The Beatles, U2, The Smiths, Tom Petty, etc...." "I guess that the only this I get to play on my Rickenbacker."

They are really versatile! It's amazing all the different sounds you can get out of them.

I believe on this recording, for the lead, I was using the onboard effects on my Korg digital recorder...Reverb, delay, and overdrive.

  • Thank God! I was beginning to think I was the only person who could hear and appreciate the versatility of a 330.

  • I guess that's the way people think. I noticed that when you search for Gretsch videos, the majority of the videos are of people playing rockabilly.....and some people think that the Tele can only be played in country. Whatever!!!! :)

  • Love it:)

  • Thank you. I appreciate that!!!

    :)

  • Is it easy to play lead on a ricky? Or even strum aggresively?

    Thanks

  • This particular guitar plays like butter! The action is set really low and I use 9's on it. This is definitely not a heavy metal guitar, but it is still very versatile and plays super easily.

  • isn't the neck very thin?

  • Well done once again.

It might be time for you to quit your day job.

    Cheers,

  • Thank you! Well, I am not quite ready to do that! :) LOL

    Thanks for the compliment!!!!

  • Great Love the Ric sound...

  • Thank you!

    :)

  • Wow! Jason this one is so awesome. I am blown away. You have surpassed anyone guitarist I ever knew including myself. You have reached beyond a guitarist, you are now a music composer.

This is a truly beautiful song. (wiping the tears away..) I love it. The sound is cosmic and very pleasing to the ears, especially in headphones. I see you have now added it in High Quality as well.

I this one should be submitted to a professional agency as a hit single. Gorgeous guitar too.

  • Wow, that's about the best compliment I have ever gotten..... seriously. Well, I give credit to the Lord for my playing.

You are an awesome guitar player yourself there bro. You need to get yourself that Strat you've been wanting, so you can strat rockin' out!!!! :)

Next time we come down, we'll have to play some music!

  • cool sound :D
