  • wow dre got better as a producer

  • I remember listening to this on kiss 104 out of atlanta back in the day. I thought it was the Beastie Boys at first. But I remember them doing a short interview and letting everyone know who they were.

  • It's very Bestie Boy-ish. but any young rapper is very influenced at first

  • Dude, this kinda proves that Ice Cube is the best rapper ever. He made this shit in the 80's and he made an album in the late 2000's. I don't think anybody can say they been around longer than him.

  • @Imsupafly420 L.L cool J

  • @Imsupafly420 LL cool J has been around for a long time also.

  • damn, he was so different in his voice, his larynx hadnt fully matured yet, he was still great.

  • Ha, never heard this...

  • Can anyone say Dre Dre Dre Dre?

  • lol ice cube doin old school rao

  • Lol, Ice Cube tries to be Ad-Rock, he said it himself. Dre wanted the group to sound like Beastie Boys and that's why the song is like it is.

  • CLASSIC!!!

  • I haven't heard this shit since I had the 12" when I was about 14---FUCKIN' DOPE---gotta love the Beastie's sample----

  • This was Ice Cube's avenue into Dr. Dre's and Eazy-E's N.W.A. going into late 1987.

  • @ehbautista Well Cube and Dre did shows together thats how they ended up knowing Eazy

  • Actually, no. It was a style of rapping back then. The '80's were still growing pains for hip hop artists either following a style and/or creating their own identity. CIA was like a makeshift crew on yet another makeshift record company for hip hop artists of that era. I think all the Beastie Boys and Run-DMC samples made it sound like they wanted to be like the aforementioned. This was early 1987, while Dr. Dre was in between his World Class Wreckin' Cru indentity and N.W.A. project.

  • I remember this. They were trying to sound like the Beastie Boys. Back then everyone used to "bite" rhymes and sounds of more famous groups.

  • This came out way before dopeman by ice cube and eazy e

  • theres definetly some beastie boys / run dmc influence in this

  • did dr.dre produce the whole album?

  • @ogfunk187 yeah, the WHOLE album, ALL THREE tracks!!

  • @russdascrub1 ice t wasn't in a group with melle mel he did a song with melle mel ice t use to roll with africa islam and donald d their from the bronx that's why ice t always had love in ny where ever ur gettin ur hip hop history stop gettin form there cause it's wrong

  • @ekeb1 cube been trash for a while I don't know if ur old enough to remember after cube left nwa he came to ny to make his first and best album then he run up outta here after he stole king sun song wicked

  • Is my memory crap or is there a dub version of this track somewhere? I remember hearing it on the radio without the lyrics.

  • they had to be influence by the beastie boys

  • sounds like DOPEMAN BY eazy e and cube

  • hardcore ass motherfuckin got damn shit!!!jam box special

  • Yo much PROPS for putting this up!!! Anywhere I can cop this? even a download till I snatch up the vinyl.. ?

  • thank so much...dang, this Ep changed hip hop for us in the dark UK....same time as the House Calls Ep, with Cabbage Patch...fresh....

  • Dam dude ice cube sounds crazy! Haha

  • hhahha young ice cube sounds good

  • Know your history in rap music.. Ice t was actually from Ny and was in a group with melle mel in the early 80's

  • Ice T was born in New Jersey and raised in L.A. I didn't know he was in a group with Melle Mel. Melle Mel was in Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five in the late 1970's and early 1980's

  • @russdascrub1 I don't kno' 'bout him bein' in a group wit' Melle Mel in the 80s, unless U refer'n to the Zulu Kings wit' Afrika Bambaataa, Afrika Islam, etc. True indeed, Ice is from the Brick City aka Newark, NJ, 'n attended schools out in Summit, NJ!!!

  • lol ice cube sounds funny on this classic shit..

  • Classic shit, 22 years! Dayum!!

  • Cheers for the capital rap show, my twin deck stereo with mad equaliser and detachable speakers, vinyl mat and nike wind cheater memories oyu just gave me :D

  • mannn... after 20yrs + later it still sounds DOPE!

  • i first remember hearing this in maybe 1987- 98..... loved it then, love it now, imaginemy surprise when i heard n.wa and the words "ice cube"!! lol

ICE CUBE IN EFFECT, AND IM THE POSSE LEADER / LOVE MY WOOFER BUT HATE MY TWEETER"!!! superb!

  • I find it awesome how they sound almost exactly like the Beastie Boys on this track. :)

  • it even samples the beasties on this ep!

  • yeah I thought the same thing when I heard this song

  • this is the shit...

  • Daaaaamn

  • while the rap revolution was taking place in the east coast (PE, BdP, Rakim,BDK,Ultra,Marley,Shan, etc), we had to listen to this, outdated rapping, and tired beats. it would be some time before dre, cube got my respect. As far as image, and content, they were ahead of the game.

  • east coast ain't got shit. West coast fo evah!

  • They sound like the Bastie Boys. And I think the Beastie are from New York.

  • No east coast no rap N***A

  • Yeah, they started it, West Coast extended it and kept it because east coast didn't have to many rappers.

They got Beastie's and ll cool j and some other dudes. west got Ice-T, DOC, NWA, Eazy E, Arabian Prince, 2pac and so on. I ain't sayin east never got any shit. Biggie and DMX got it kickin

  • uhhh... beastie and "some other dudes"?

They had mobb deep, smif n wessun, triple six mafia, bone thugs, WU TANG.

Those are not just no name acts kid. Learn your shit. East is way better then west. Not saying I don't like some west coast but east kept it gangsta. West brought rap into commercialization which was it's downfall.

  • Oh Wu-Tang yeah. I don't like any of those others. Bone Thugs was from midwest?

But hey, it's a mather of opinion.

  • bone thugs are from Cleveland, Ohio which is deff close to east cost.

ya it is a matter of opinion and yer opinion sucks!

cant believe u dun like mobb deep, especially the infamous album.... dun forget about Big L, nas, gangstarr.... east shits all over west

  • Gangstarr and Nas is dope, but Mobb sucks. Man you say MY opinion sucks?

West got The DOC, Dr. Dre, Snoop, had Eazy E and 2pac, Ice Cube, Ice-T, King Tee, Jay Tee, E-40, Too $hort, Xzibit, NWA, Coolio, MC Hammer, The Game and more, if I took time to think about it.

Eastside also got MOP and Rakim, though. I ain't saying I hate eastside, I just say west is better.

  • With you Ekeb, Also let's go back earlier....that eary electro hip hop sound was fresh....Unknown, Big Beat, Techno Hop...awesome ish baby!!!!

  • For one when was the last good Ice Cube album ? D.O C lost his voice .. NWA broke up years ago .. Who the F is arabian prince. Pac has been dead for a while... You are obviously someone who is still living inwest coasts raps hey day but that rein is been over.

  • Ice Cubes last good album was 2008: Raw Footage. DOC still got his lyrics. Arabian Prince? If u don't know who that is, sorry u ain't able to discuss hip-hop. Pac still realisin good shit, though he's dead. And the rest of those I mentioned u obviously gave bright fuck about, cuz u know I'm right. Anyway, last time a good hip-hop/rap song was made was in 2004! Except Ice Cubes new album, Eminem and Nas'. and the ol' days are always better then the shit dat comes out nowa days

  • Ice cube is doing kiddie movies , Arabian prince Isn't he from dude from wack ass wrecking crew... Pac is good because he was actually from the east coast first . I can only agree with you on 1 thing ...the old school stuff is way better than the crap today..But what do you know about oldschool ? Oldschool is anything before the 90's in my opinion..These cats today are saying everything the've said in 88 .. Money cars and women... That's why I would download this bs rather than buy it ..

  • Further more, I have been dj ing since 15 yrs old and know what I am talking about. You mentioned some from the west what about Mc eit , Dj quick, King Tee , Rappin fortay, The luniz, Pharcyde, Get a clue cuz... I know more about this music than you do . You cant fuck with me man..lol

  • @theone8th means nothing where pac was from, hell dj premier is from texas so i guess that means the south owns the east when it comes to production with your logic right? yell

  • @BOX5 Nah it doesn't matter where the fuck you are from but people here seem to think they know about these people and don't even realize where they originally came from but I guess you had to read the previous comments to understand what we were talking about..

  • Dope comment BOX5

"It ain't where you from it's where you at!"

The west coast sound was dope until everybody started sounding the same using the same g-funk sounds with the high-pitch synthesizer and talking about the same gangsta shit over & over after the classic albums "The Chronic" & "Doggy Style" came out, after that I tuned out and got all into the underground Hip-Hop sound from the East & West Coast, some of the greatest Hip-Hop to ever come out, 1990-1999!!! Wu-Tang, Gang Starr, etc!

  • first time i heard this song good song

  • Miss the god ol days...

  • Comment removed
