No, the song is called '50 Mission Cap'. But I am guessing the words have nationalistic meaning to Gordon Downie, so he made the quip about the song they were about to sing ('50 Mission Cap') having to do with having allegiance to the flag on your knapsack.
The hips worst shows are better than most other bands best shows...except when they played at the 2002 Olympics, for some reason they SUCKED that time...haha
we were there for this song our whole rgby club went to SEABIRD ISLand and watched this concert in fact you can see a few of us right in front of the stage
Did you read what I wrote. I said I play that song, nnothing about him playing for the Sabres I know how how story goes bud. And your right they all are missin out Long Live TH!
Favorite band hands dfown What a story this song tells. After I heard this song I did 4 days of reseach. Now I play this song before every Sabres home game, its a ritual it has to be done. This band rocks saw them in Lewiston NY Great show, great Bday present. May they continue their poetic prefection. Long Live The Hip!
You realize its about Bill Barilko right? He won the Leafs the cup, not the Sabs. Its rare to find Americans who like the Hip. I'm from Buffalo myself, and everyone I ask has never even heard of them. They're missing out.
Another Roadside Attraction was the best concert my wife and I have ever been to. We went to 93 and 95 both Markham Fairgrounds. Nothing has ever compared to that crowd atmosphere since, the band was SOLID we wish we could do it all over again.
Other than Gord this band does not change... Jesus still looks like Jesus, the rhythm guitarist has the same haircut, the bassist is the same, and so is the drummer, as far as I know.... and then there's Gord.... where did all that hair go?!?
gord is the bassist. gordon downie is lead vocalist, "jesus" is robbie baker ,rythm is the one and only paul langlois, last but certainly not least johnny faye -percussionist
Gord's Hip was on top in '93. 50 Mission Cap is epic. Long live the Hip!
