-- maybe i read to much into it but i'd say the whole movie (all three parts) is about the absurdity of 'growing up'. the scarecrow is you or me in the future having no fun trying to make money and life sucking. that's why the 'time-machine' is made of kids' toys. the movie is an awesome tribute to adolescence!
