I thank God that I was alive to hear these people. Look at the band and backing singers, these people look like they've been together for a long time.
What is wrong with the audience? Are they deaf ,with pain in their feet and knees? If that was Kanye spittin on the mic or a sorry vocalist with about 20 dancers on stage to distract from the horrible vocals, that audience would've been yelling and applauding out of this world.
There is absolutely no reason that those people should be sitting at the end of that performance . Aretha Franklin and Stevie wonder are two of the greatest artists this World has ever seen. Most people don't even know

Lord.... y'all pray for the 18 souls who dislike this..they obvious don't know real music, true vocal talent, musicianship, or what a real performance is when they hear and see it. This is one of the best examples of musical magic ever.
we'll still be listening to these great music 1, 5, 10, 20, 30+ years from now. I'm not picking on these songs...but these songs, for example: black & yellow, I'm coming home just ain't this memorable because they aren't relevant now and they won't be relevant 30+ years from now. How sad we don't have many True artistes like we had then. Only a few hand full like John Legend and Alicia Keys that still keep it real.
@meyniak side bar to your comment. do you know that stevie us to use the talk box like in the early 70's? so ironic that the technology that was so invetive is now overused
@mjjcng8958 you are right! just saw a video with stevie on the talkbox. interesting....anyways he is still a legend and am glad he doesn't wholly rely on automated accompaniments.
@Norelleism You've got me confused - Rachelle's is a whole different song, just with the same title (not the one Stevie Wonder wrote). Too bad the titles cause that confusion.
Wow, what a wonderful film, such Joy and such a magic combination of Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder having fun and making beautiful music. Home made chocolate mousse for the ears and heart!!! Shame the woman they are singing about sounds like a stalker, perhaps she was just misunderstood? Whatever, Thankyou for positing this and thankyou Aretha and Stevie et al
I wonder if the crowd knew how lucky they were to see two of the greats perform together?? Damn I'd sell my best friend for a time travel ticket to that show!!
Aretha we love you and you will be in many a prayer in these coming months to help you beat cancers ass!
Stevie we love you too, hope to see you both on a future tour!
Can someone please explain why this boring-ass crowd aren't on their feet, cheering the shiz-nit out of this performance...before, during and after?!! "Reta" and Stevie tapped on this door...two times!!
@a1d2h she certainly is in popularity status but the material is not in the same league. how can if i were a boy compare to this.......never in the creation
Does anyone know how to get rid of the check marks in the little boxes on the left of book marks? I have a lot of them even though I haven't "voted" one way or another on the video.
Thanks! Indeed a legend. Been a fan of George's for decades. Incredible chops, but his sense of groove is just uncanny! When he and Billy jam together, it's about as close to two musicians 'knowing' each other as it gets!! Tunes like "Stratus" and "Rush Hour"
Stevie composed this song when he was just a kid. what kid expresses them self in such a mature maner Stveie should be placed in the same catagory with song writers like Lennon
@DREDWHITEHEAD..that's actually a very astute comment to make because Wonder, McCartney and Lennon aren't particularly known for their singing. What the 3 are known for are their innovative records. I mean the Beatles' Sgt Pepper, Revolver, Magical Mystery, etc, were truly revolutionary in terms of their lush sound. They really pushed the boundaries of what could be achieved in the studio in the late 60s and then look at what Wonder did with synthesizer with Music of My Mind, Innervisions, et
This will always be one of my most favorite songs by two of my favorites. We have got to take care of our Queen... she had a bad fall last week. Bless You Queen...pls make a speedy recovery...
wow. a few hundred million dollars on stage here! I see GEORGE DUKE up there jammin with Ree Ree & Stevie... and the shot of Kenny Lattimore & Chante at the end put a nice touch on the clip. Dmn, these awards and events really brought together some fantastic talent. SWEET!
Stevie co-wrote this way back in 67 and his version is sweet, innocent and genuine but Aretha just totally re-invented and perfected it with hers. This is a bit slick and showy a rendition compared to the recording but a treat to see the two duet.
@ronintheusa Lmaooooooo you must be smokin'...I saw Katharine's performance and she did well, but she can't touch Aretha vocally, especially when she was in her prime...so sorry.
did Stevie have a falsetto? i can't think of any song i've ever heard him use it if he had one. i mean with his range i doubt he needed one, but i seriously can't think of any time i've heard it...
John Legend used this music for his song "do what I gotta do". I think it's great that Stevie's music has been so influential in other artist's music. He IS a legend... nuff said!
