If you tell a bisexual person that they're gay, they are going to disagree with you and say that they're bisexual. That doesn't mean that they're ashamed of being sexually attracted to the same sex - it means they want to be identified as they truly are. So why is it wrong for a biracial person to want to be identified as both black and white? That doesn't mean they're ashamed of being black, it means they don't want to be categorized incorrectly. They might not want to be categorized at all!

That being said, America is the manufacturing and distribution plant for negative black image worldwide. Business been booming since the profit potential from rampant slavery was seen. Besides, if I only identify with my black side, does that mean I hate white people? I would just like to be accepted by both races, or at least one or the other. The truth is, I am not fully accepted by either race. If anything, many biracial people are more likely to have an inferiority complex, instead of a superiority complex (because the rejection by both races can lead some people to have low self-esteem).
Please, do not assume biracial people think they are better than you, just because they do not reject one side of their heritage. What if I told you, you can claim to be related to your mother and her side of the family, but not your father and his side of the family, or vise versa? Does this seem logical to you? It isn't. You are right, people should not hate their own race. I am mixed, I have curly hair, but if I straightened it I could easily pass for white (actually, many people think I am just white). Yet, I have never tried to pass for white. I always claim I am both, or sometimes I just claim black. I do not have a superiority complex. The problem is, most black people I have met assume I do. So, they are often rude to me (especially darker sister), until they get to know me.

Imagine if I told you you had to categorize yourself as either "male" or "African-American." If you picked "male," would it make sense for me to say you hated women? My very fair-skinned biracial cousin even made it a point to marry a very dark-skinned black man because she didn't want her children to be seen as "different" in the black community like she was. It's just too difficult to handle. You have no idea sometimes how hard it is to judge by looking in the mirror how dark or light you are. Besides, if I only identify with my black side, does that mean I hate white people? I would just like to be accepted by both races, or at least one or the other. The truth is, I am not fully accepted by either race. If anything, many biracial people are more likely to have an inferiority complex, instead of a superiority complex (because the rejection by both races can lead some people to have low self-esteem).

What if I told you, you can claim to be related to your mother and her side of the family, but not your father and his side of the family, or vise versa? Does this seem logical to you? It isn't. You are right, people should not hate their own race. I am mixed, I have curly hair, but if I straightened it I could easily pass for white (actually, many people think I am just white). Yet, I have never tried to pass for white. I always claim I am both, or sometimes I just claim black. I do not have a superiority complex. The problem is, most black people I have met assume I do. So, they are often rude to me (especially darker sister), until they get to know me.

Imagine if I told you you had to categorize yourself as either "male" or "African-American." If you picked "male," would it make sense for me to say you hated women? I know Swedish is a very good half to have, but it is mixed with Nigerian, that's my problem. My mother is Swedish and my father is Nigerian. And no he doesn't really know that I hate the Nigerian side, only my mom knows, I can tell her anything. ya my dad is half black and half white but he always tries to whiten his ancestry, which he never did before til he met my racist mother, btw filipinos are racist. He never talks about his black ancestry but always about his white ancestry. But when we are around family, my fathers family. And i know what you mean, my grandma, if u told her that she was black, she would do the same thing. Screeeech! What? All the biracial people I've known, including family members are very proud of their blackness, almost to the point of overcompensation. My very fair-skinned biracial cousin even made it a point to marry a very dark-skinned black man because she didn't want her children to be seen as "different" in the black community like she was. OK, Let me say a few things.
Being biracial myself, I can tell you now, I do NOT hate my blackness. It's just the fact of the matter that I DON'T LOOK BLACK. I have predominately white features. When I am with other black people they treat me differently because of that. So it is definitely a two way street. And Don't feel so hurt, because white people do it to me too. I claim Mulatto, because that is what I am. I am both black and white. I tend to try and avoid the topic all together

It's just too difficult to handle. You have no idea sometimes how hard it is to judge by looking in the mirror how dark or light you are. I have big lips, BUT I have a thin white nose and WHITE PEOPLE HAIR. YES So some of really struggle with the feeling of not feeling like we belong in either category.
