  • wouldnt a Orangutan be more fitting ?

  • "Why's the librarian a monkey?"

  • SIT

  • They should clearly have hired an orangutan.

  • I wonder was Discworld out yet and they were parodying that of did Terry Pratchet was inspired by this? :)

  • i wonder if that inspired discworld or was it the other way around.

  • that gorilla would fit in with my school XD

  • I love how the British say "lie-bree"

  • "you see africans are not required to fill in their species"

  • @tortugitsa applicants. .....mr freud would have a field day !!

  • @tortugitsa Hey, I see what you did there!... Naughty, naughty! >:(

  • Does he work at the Unseen University, perhaps? :-D

  • Maybe it's just me, but I like to think that Terry Pratchett watched this and it sunk into his subconscious, morphed into an orang-utang and emerged as The Librarian.

  • So this is where Terry Pratchett got the idea?

  • Terry Pratchett's homage to this is great.

  • hahahahahah mr pattinson is adorable :D

  • @Origamigeek1 Indeed :)

  • Everyone knows that orangutans make the best librarians. ;D

  • @Spazzbert Get out of here Rincewind ;)

  • @Chadner every sketch i watch makes me ask the same thing

  • "Ah, Mr. Pattinson! SIT!"

  • it's 'applicants' APPLICANTS!

  • :DDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • @SirDoofus0 I think it's just a coincidence.

  • why this deception?

    hahahahahahaha

  • *coughdiscworldcough*

  • Look down the comments, I'm glad I'm not the only one who misheard "Applicants" as "Africans" !

  • Did terry Pratched use this idea, or did Monty python use his idea.

  • @SirDoofus0: Orang-Utan or Gorilla....good question!

  • @SirDoofus0 A wonderful question. If Monty Python writing this sketch in 1969 had been able to time-travel forward to the late 1980s and steal Pratchett's idea for the Librarian, then he could later sue them!

  • @milmascaras1001 It's an ape you cunt. A fucking APE. And I won't even get into how utterly moronic your statement was.

  • @milmascaras1001

No it doesn´t! It represents how stupid where those guys! XD

  • YOU are the racist for thinking this nonsense.

  • @milmascaras1001 maybe you're the racist, you are the only one that thinks it represents a black person.

the joke is about how companys prefer a monkey (a stupid worker without experience that would do the job for a misery money and never complains) better than a librarian (a worker with experience that will ask for a good salary and give them trouble)

  • @milmascaras1001

Really? So what does the dog represent?

Anyway, they were about to give the gorilla the job!

"Seriously" though, the picture of a Roman Centurion is clearly a symbol of Jewish oppression, those anti-Semitic bastards!

  • "ah mr. Pattenson... SIT!"

    chapman was amazing

  • completely random question... what breed is Mr Pattenson? He's a good looking dog!

  • Seems like a golden retriever to me.

  • really?... I have a goldie and it def doesn't look like that, nor have I ever seen one like that... still there is a lot of variation within the breed. Not entirely convinced but you could be right. Or maybe its a mixed breed and so the plot thickens.

  • Well, I can't really say I know that much about dogs. I just thought I recognised golden retriever. And it is a very common dog in the UK, as you probably know yourself, so it seemed likely to me.

  • Ahh, the good old days, back when people could poke good fun at the ridiculousness of 'affirmative action'.

  • "what was that picture?"

  • @ElectricEdgewave192

A picture of Chapman disguised as Cesar, from the sketch about the mice men (where we discover Cesar was in fact one).

  • @ElectricEdgewave192 was chapman gay by the way ?

  • @gorthorki Even if he was, so WTF???

  • @gorthorki yes, but he was a very funny and quirky comedian!

  • @gorthorki Yes, he was. And what??

  • is this where terry pratchett got his idea?

  • Woot? The Librarian, my dear friend, of the invisible university is in fact an Orang-Utan, not a librarian in a Gorillaskin!

  • im not suggesting that Mr. Pratchett stole this idea, i'm just saying that this might have gotten his creative juices flowing and he added his own twists. to imply that terry is a plagirist! hah! that's sacrilege!

  • @mrmoe18 That's what I thought when I saw it too. Color of Magic came out right around the same time as this, I think it's highly possible he was inspired by it.

  • @Megabyxos "The Colour Of Magic" = 1983. This sketch ~= 1968

  • @asdsrules

    Noo... that's utter nonsense.

  • ?

    erhm...

  • hum he didn't say 'africans' but 'applicants' xD

  • Oh lol!

    I missheard it!

I thought it was funny anyway

  • "..being a gorilla, you would tend to frighten people" he he he :D

  • Well, UU had an orang-utan...

  • ha i love apes ( must not say monkey or will get my arms riped off) as librarians it just suits .

  • "get out mr librarian-fib seeing as you are not a gorilla but only dressed as one trying to deceive us in order to further your career!" lmao... priceless!

  • Love this sketch!

"I can't pretend that this library hasn't had its difficulties... Mr Robinson, your predecessor, excellent librarian, savaged three people last week and had to be destroyed..."

Does it (or will it) possibly ever get any more random than this!?

  • It's not "random", it's too well thought-out. This isn't random humour you moron

  • @Chadner It does get more random than this, you'd be surprised.

  • They should hire Conan the Librarian for the job. XD

  • eric idle as a gorilla....nicee

  • what WAS that picture...

  • it's Julius Caesar... from the Mouse Problem Sketch... Or so it seems

  • Caesar and a Roman soldier appeared in the link before this sketch.

  • @ digorrybio

    SSHHH!!

  • haha lol amazing !! thanks for uploading:d

  • It's applicants are not required to fill in their species. Don't make crap out of it

  • Yeah, but I won't be surprized if terry got some inspiration from here.

  • From Discworld ( Terry Pratchett) wasn't the librarian of the Unseen University an orangutan?

  • He is. But I think they were first, before the discworld.

  • I thought of this initially, but the characters are completely different. Still coincidental though.

  • Keep in mind that that was an orangutan. This is a gorilla. Completey different.

  • At least they didn't say monkey.

  • i love!

  • lol

  • LMAO...lol lol
