  • Gorgeous. It's so great to see fun with a horse. But I am getting suspicions one of my mares has been talking to Pokerjoe...she does literally the exact same thing, evers since she was two years old. She backs up then lies down....Carrots always work though :P

  • i wanna do thatwhen i grow upp!

  • This is sooooo adorable!!! :D <3

  • wow !

  • wow. That is quite the trust and bond! You should show this to the Parelli's and tell them to kiss your a**.

Joe is GORGEOUS!! And clever : )

  • @RuthanneHanlon Thanks for the compliment. Tommie has a unique way on how he trains his horses with the use of trust techniques and non-violent, consistent training. It is up to the individual to see which training produces the best result for them and their horse. The Parelli's have seen Tommie perform and have even hired Tommie to perform at their conference in Pagosa Springs. Tommie has never done the Parelli course and method, so he can't say that.

  • WOW!!

  • Can't believe how patient this horse is. In love!

  • This is a greta example of a connection between horse and owner. This is a hilarious video !!

  • Horsemanship and training at its best! A very funny act that also shows us beautiful trust that can be gained between horse and rider.

  • Omg I what this horse sooo bad!!!!!

  • PokerJoe, you have shown all of us what is capable between a horse and his owner. I am so touched by the trust you and Tommie have, and I hope my horse will trust me as much someday!

  • Great job!!

  • i want that horse!

  • coolest horse ever!

  • this is hilarious! what a patient horse :)

  • WHOA how did they get him to rear and buck like that?! wow.

  • nice! but will it hurt him to be down for such a long time?

  • That horse is faery payshint

  • well I'm impressed beyond words. thanks for posting.

  • I love this! I wish I could do this with my horses!

  • when the horse is upside down it looks like my dog , thunder

  • That horse is just so chilled! It's not fazed by anything! Love him. <3

  • DAY MADE

  • thats pure love

  • Beautiful =)

  • Absoloutly awsome! Wish I knew how to do this kind of training as would love my highland pony Lulu to have some stunt/tricks acts to really complete her CV!! We are working on driving soon then it is just trick/stunt training! Hope you guys come to the UK and come down to Devon as bet I could get a big crowd to come just by showing them this! You can come train my pony while your here!! XD

  • OMG, I love Tommie Turvey! I wonder how many times they have practiced this routine?! haha

  • Wow, so funny and lovely. They trust a 100% each other and of course... love each other. That was amazing. Favorite video ever for me!

  • I loved all of it. Thanks for sharing<3

  • wow thats one vary well traind horse

  • Omg this is so cute love it when he finally gets on then the horse bucks him off again!!!! Lol :)

  • The horse is so cute!! I wish I had a horse. 

  • I'd love to see them live! Truly Amazing!

  • That is so amazing! :) :) Love it!

  • Proper cracked up at this! Pure talent!

  • lolz lolz rofl this was a extremely funny video it was obvious that these tricks are unharmful to the horse which makes them ten times better and it looks like the horse enjoys kicking hm in the butt! =)

  • So adorable!!!! Laughed my head off!!!!!!!

  • My sister trained her pony using horsemanship. When he was about two years old, she got him to lay down on this big plastic cloth, and wrapped him in it. And he didn't mind, he trusted her so much. I love horsemanship, and this clip right here is amazing! <3

  • The horse is just like " Here we go again..."

  • i love the color of the horse brown mane white tail perfect.

  • how cuute :)

  • love that horses white tail! my god <3

  • it is very amazig how u have done that, but i have a question that conserns me did u hurt the horseto make u do what u wat cause this is amazing! the horse is beautiful !

  • @MxKxtheclan Thank you for the comment and concern. When training a horse to do this it takes complete trust of the horse. If you hurt the horse in any way or make him uncomfortable, he will not let you turn him upside down. Tommie gets his horses to do this because they know that nothing will hurt them because they trust Tommie. Pokerjoe and Tommie have been together for 15 years and have many more to come.

  • @MxKxtheclan I don't think he did because what the horse is doing there requires ultimate trust. You can't accomplish that through hurting the animal. Lying down like it did and letting a preditor which is what we humans are, is a huge act of trust because it is in a highly vulnerable position. It also would have kicked him if it didn't really trust him when he was under it's belly, and would definately have had a fit about his pushing through the back legs!

  • aww :')

  • i love that horse. that is an amazing horse. horses are the most amazing animals ever. that is why ilove them so much and that is also why i love to ride them.

  • BHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHHA LOVE IT

  • awwh! Ahahaha. too funny.

  • That is simply amazing how he trained the horse to do that!! And imaging all of the hours that it took..you can tell how much they love eachother.

  • @gramattmom Thank you. It takes specific training to get Pokerjoe to understand what to do, but not a lot. Once you teach a horse to look to you for guidance, you can do anything. It isn't the training of turning Pokerjoe upside down that takes time, it is the method of being consistent with him so he is comfortable with being upside down. Tommie has to maintain the trust between them and get the respect of a leader. This is how he trains all his horses.

  • His breyer looks WAY to chunky for this horse. Here he actually looks skinny!

  • @3luvanimals Yes, the Breyer was done in 2009, this video was from 2003 so Pokerjoe was a bit younger in this video. With the Breyer we matched the color marking and features as exact as we could, the weight is a little tricky. It all depends on the mold they used and this one was a QH stallion mold. Thanks for noticing.

  • Aw!!!! that is too cute!!!! I just love the relationship and love they show with each other. That's what horsemanship should be like! Mwa to Tommie Turvey and Pokerjoe!!!!!!! Great show! Thumbs up those who agree.

  • the trust and respect of that horse! its amazing! and he clearly loves that horse. the gentle way he asks him to do his tricks is absolutely incredible!

  • I was pmsl all the way through that!!

  • LOVE IT!

  • Holy shit talk about amazing, not to mention extensive training! I'm in love <3

  • I saw him do this act at Breyerfest 2009! It's amazing! :) I love Tommie Turvey :) Did you know that Poker Joe used to be very agressive, and Tommie SLEPT with him in his stall for months to get him to trust him. Amazing!!

  • wow! :)

  • O my god amazing

  • amazing!!

  • That was great ,I have worked with horses for 10 years ,this is so cool ,the horse is great, trust like that is really great between horse and human

  • wow how does he get his horse to do that?!?!

  • I have worked with horses most of my life and i think that that was outstanding.

  • so cool how you can train a horse to do all those things!!!

  • Austin Powers crossed with an amazing horseman

  • Wow!! that horse knows when he's meant to listen!!! He put his ears forward for a split second when they were clapping, then his master put his foot on his back & he turned his attention back to him! amazing xx

  • @NikkiScarletzLott Wow. You are very perceptive. That is all part of Tommie's training. If you can get a horse to respect and keep his attention on you, you can train them to do anything.

  • @NikkiScarletzLott You can also tell that at the end the buck Pokerjoe did was a very nicely trained buck :) not one to hurt the rider but one to dislodge him lol :)

  • That act is hysterical. I saw it in person at Equine Affaire in Columbus. The equine extremist is the best part of the show.

  • That was absolutely amazing, That horse sure loves his job!

  • That was probably the greatest act I've ever seen involving a horse. Simply awesome!

  • Either a very well trained horse or it was on stereroids some of that would have hurt a horse that wasnt drugged

  • @iluvmyhorseygus Pokerjoe is very well trained horse by Tommie. Tommie doesn't use steroids or drugs on his horses.

  • Hilarious ha ha

  • smarter than me

  • I bet I could do that with my horse.... JUST KIDDING! She would probably kill me...

  • I can do all of these trick with my horse!!!! They're soooo fun!

  • I know tommie. hes one of my dads best friends!

  • Waoh! Incredible! Sooo amazing. Favorite moment when he tends his back leg =)

  • what an amazing performance! enjoyed it loads! wish i could see it for real!

  • mwhahahahahaha to funny!

  • What breed is Pokerjoe?

  • @UberMan5000 Pokerjoe is an American Paint Horse.

  • @equineextremist omg those two have the most amazing bond i have ever seen. pokerjoe is such a well behaved horse. we have a rescue that will just stand there when you crawl between her legs but she's still to untrusting to let you roll her on her back

  • 7:57 the horse was like " hello honey" -.-'

  • what a magnificent animal. That horse is so tolerant and they preform so perfectly with each other. I can only imagine the amount of time spent to accomplish some of those fantastic tricks!

  • The reins are being pulled a tad hard, and in some parts the horse looks as though it can't be bothered to do it anymore! But, I giggled on some parts!

  • this is funny !!

  • I LOVE his color! Such a pretty boy! :)

  • I love his horse. It was like a performance with two humans, since the horse knew his cues like an actor.

  • n'aww hes so cute! wish i could get the breyer of him, if it ever comes out of retirment i so will! wish i lives in the usa so i could see him but unfortuanetley im in the UK:(

  • this is Hilarius!!

  • he pulled the reighnes to much but awesome show

  • AMAZING!!!

  • I have breyer form of him! :D

  • @84horsecrazy Yes, Pokerjoe was made into a Breyer in 2009. His model was retired in 2011 and he will be performing at Breyerfest 2012 in Lexington KY.Come see Pokerjoe, Tommie and his amazing horses. July 20-22 at the Kentucky Horse Park. The movie horse, Odd Job Bob will also be there!

  • @nhopkins07 Thanks for sharing it! Maybe Tommie will get out to your area someday!

  • This is the most amazing horsemanship footage I have ever seen, I have ridden and competed since 4yro successfully, I am passionate about all horses and have a special bond but never have I seen such trust and respect thankyou for sharing with us in Australia

  • @Busnet100 Make sure you check out Tommie's YouTube Channel, EQUINE EXTREMIST as well to see his other acts, horsemanship tips, and cool stuff. Tommie performed in Australia at the Asia Pacific Equitana in Melbourne and at the Spirit of the Horse Show in Perth. We hope to get back to Australia soon. Thank you.

  • This is soooooooo amazing!!!! It was so cute when he bowed. A horse at my stable can bow they're so clever :D

  • This act is still awesome. I can't wait to see it again!

  • This is amazing. How long did it take to train? The trust you two have in each other is amazing.

  • @Huxtable23 Tommie has been performing this act since 2000. Tommie's way of training is to get a response out of his horses. He wants them to be horses, think, and look to him for guidance and interaction. This is where he creates that incredible trust, unlike a horse who is trained over and over and over and ends up with no emotion or spirit. Thank you for nice comment.

  • The relationship and trust he has with jim is amazing, you can really see the bond between them :D

  • That Was The Best Video I Have Ever Seen On You Tube.I Own A Blue Eyed Overo Paint I Love Her To Death,She Bucked Me Off Yesterday And It Didnt Feel The Best In The World.I Dont Know How You Can Get Bucked Off Like That All The Time.Amazing Simply Amazing!

    You Are Wonderful Trainer!

  • he has to be a very good horse to lay like that for Tommie because if a horse lays on his back for too long, his insides will crush his spine and destroy all of his ribs!!!

  • @Dandyizbeast Yes,Pokerjoe is a great horse. As for being upside down, you are a little over exaggerated there. I consulted vets who put horses in this position for surgery and will leave a horse like this for up to 2 hours. I put Pokerjoe (or any horse) upside down for no more than 3 minutes, so the risk is minimal to the horse. I am at more of a risk of injury. It is more dangerous for me trying to keep his balance, holding and staring at his front hooves. Thanks for your concern though.

  • This is incredible!!!!! They are like best friends, thats really wonderful trust, Pokerjoe looks relaxed and both having fun! I may not be much of a horse person, but i sure love to see rider and horse who look like best friends 8D

  • oooommmmgg this is amaing!!!!!!

  • omg TOOOOOO cute! that's tjhe coolest horse EVER!!

  • He reminds me a lot of Buster Keaton and what he'd do with a horse if he could. XD Brilliant pantomime, I love it! Pokerjoe is a beautiful horse, he's definitely the type that will let Tommie do anything to him (play with his hooves, lay on him, etc). Love the white tail, I've never seen that before.
