@GeistvonWut From memory Maynard realized it wasn't going to get the go ahead by the record companies and so took the material he had been working on and published it himself. I hear it did cause abit of a stir between them but with Trent appearing on a Pucifer song I don't think it was serious.

This is for people who like Maynard's voice, I mean seriously If you do not find enjoyment in Maynard's voice then tool is probably where you draw the line. Aye there might be some profound meanings behind the lyrics.
Smart people music would be considered to be Pink, Zeppelin, classics..... proper technical finesse.

@vivalafiends no its not maynard is still writing lyrics this has the same frontman as tool but with audioslave it was backing members of RATM and chris cornell writing lyrics so the shift between tool and a perfect cricle is not as significant as the one between audioslave and rage against the machine if u dont believe me listen to maggies farm by RATM and then listen to doesnt remind me by audioslave

@Metalguitarfreak you're right, billy howerdel is the founder of APC. He originally wanted a female singer. When Maynard read the lyrics that Billy wrote, he saw himself singing them.
