Many of us in rural areas (and urban areas) hunt to subsidize the food budget. We also are sitting in the middle of a collapsing global economy and see hunting as a way to further support our families in tough economic times. Furthermore, those of us who farm don't see "living off the land" as a bad thing (you do; like it or not). It is a skill set I would recommend to all.
If this government continues with the "quantitative easing" (printing money)it is going to quantitatively "ease" us all right out of the grocery store. Have you noticed the rise in grocery prices? So I hope you liberals will excuse me if I continue to eat!

@p8ntballfrenzy I don't know what the laws are in the UK but, in the US you typically take a hunter safety course and once you have passed the safety course you can then apply for a license to hunt for example a white tail deer. Your son would have the time of his life and you will create a better bond between you and your son.

@NJsportscrew Quit acting like a pansy. Atleast animals in the wild have a slight chance of escape. Cows and other animals on dairy farms and meat processing plants have no chance to escape or survive. They're just lined up for slaughter, one by one. If you're so against cruelty towards animals, thank a hunter the next time you run into one. PLUS Animals in the wild are are natural and healthy, unlike animals on the slaughter line, which are malnourished and pumped with steroids and chemicals.

Non-hunters are never going to fully understand what it means to be a hunter. I hunt, I love hunting, it is such a surreal experience and I understand it's not for all. Do I feel sad when I kill an animal....sure, but I also understand that this is just life, this is what our ancestors did to survive. Besides many of the hunted species are overpopulated and are actually doing damage to their environment . I can continue to list cold hard facts but you get the idea. I will always be a hunter!

@gepridecmc eh... not many people die cus of bears... 3 (known/reported) fatalities in 2010, and only about 30 of them in the 2000's... these are sport hunters... they just hunt to kill them and maybe(????) sell the hide.
It is interesting to see the level of interest on the videos from both sides. To put some of the misconceptions to rest here is a little about the video you don't know. On the so called "ass shot" the bear was broadside and spun to leave just as the hunter released the arrow. On the bear that was shot twice the first shot was a little back because the bear was moving faster than it looks but the second shot was quartering away and a perfect heart shot. The bear went 20 yards and died.

@BackyardFLPB No you're very wong. An arrow under it's effctive range is far more deadly than a bullet. This is because of the broad head tips used these days. These have basicly 3 to 4 razors on them and if they hit any vial organs or arteries, the animal will bleed out within mins. rather than hours/days with a bad shot with a bullet. Trust me look it up, arrow shots can and do kill game much faster with a bad shots than bullets do.
@LiveFreeOrRIP do you have any idea what its like hunting?? when you finally see something after waiting about a hour you get excited heart racing you have to be able to pull up the bow quiet enough not to spook the animal and control your breathing so it doesn't hear you then if you've done all that you hope that animal stops for you to get a good shot and if it's at an awkward angle you don't want to waste your time sitting there for nothing... you take a chance

@Pottan23 not much a bear can do to a camouflaged hunter (and those who are with him), because the bear has no idea the hunters are even there until it has been shot. even if it did try to attack them instead of running away I'm sure more than one of the other hunters there would just take out his rifle/bow etc and shoot it.
Except we don't disrupt nature and it's life cycle. We breed those animals specifically for eating. Hunting can have an impact on the environment and eventually can lead to extinction. Just look at the dodo bird. Not here anymore is it?

Non-hunters are never going to fully understand what it means to be a hunter. I hunt, I love hunting, it is such a surreal experience and I understand it's not for all. Do I feel sad when I kill an animal....sure, but I also understand that this is just life, this is what our ancestors did to survive. Besides many of the hunted species are overpopulated and are actually doing damage to their environment . I can continue to list cold hard facts but you get the idea. I will always be a hunter!

It is interesting to see the level of interest on the videos from both sides. To put some of the misconceptions to rest here is a little about the video you don't know. On the so called "ass shot" the bear was broadside and spun to leave just as the hunter released the arrow. On the bear that was shot twice the first shot was a little back because the bear was moving faster than it looks but the second shot was quartering away and a perfect heart shot. The bear went 20 yards and died.

Just because it didn't involve animals doesn't make it any different. Also, you are aware that most hunting kills are taken to butchers where the meat is either given to the hunter to consume, or sold at the market for other to consume? @BackyardFLPB No you're very wong. An arrow under it's effctive range is far more deadly than a bullet. This is because of the broad head tips used these days. These have basicly 3 to 4 razors on them and if they hit any vial organs or arteries, the animal will bleed out within mins. rather than hours/days with a bad shot with a bullet. Trust me look it up, arrow shots can and do kill game much faster with a bad shots than bullets do.

@LiveFreeOrRIP do you have any idea what its like hunting?? when you finally see something after waiting about a hour you get excited heart racing you have to be able to pull up the bow quiet enough not to spook the animal and control your breathing so it doesn't hear you then if you've done all that you hope that animal stops for you to get a good shot and if it's at an awkward angle you don't want to waste your time sitting there for nothing... you take a chance
